  1. I personally think the best way to go is VR + this cockpit. Some people say you can develop the muscle memory needed to find buttons. For me, the most annoying, immersion breaking part of VR is grabbing the mouse to click stuff. I tried leapmotion as well and it's useless. I don't even bother turning it back on after it bugs out.
  2. It indeed an air vent, it seems to have a butterfly valve to close it and in the sim, it has been modelled closed. That's what confused me. This picture from a cockpit tour in youtube titled "F-16 Cockpit Tour, Test Pilot, Edwards AFB" shows it open:
  3. I was wondering as looking at it, it doesn't seem to do anything. Attached picture for reference.
  4. Good to hear. It puzzled me at the start too.
  5. The reason for this behaviour is that the F-16 has a force sensing stick in real life rather than a deflection type and it's modelled like that in game. To 'simulate' a force sensing stick with a normal joystick, add -25 curvature to the axis curve in the control menu to the pitch and roll axes.
  6. There seems to be a bug in my pc with Opencomposite and OpenXR Motion reprojection, where activating Motion Reprojection prevents 'Create fast mission' missions from being created. As soon as the loading bar for creating the mission appears (after I've chosen the parameters like the plane type, time etc), the game gets stuck on that frame and only solution is to restart the game. Multiplayer and Instant Action seem to work fine.
  7. I just got the leapmotion controller and the current implementation is quite useful. I suggest an option to toggle leapmotion 'hands' for situations such as startup or accessing buttons on the sidepanels (since leapmotion hands disables mouse pointer). Till we get that option ingame officially, I was wondering if it's possible to change the settings of the special tab in the ingame menu by editing a file, with an external program. I thought of making small jitters (to disable hands) in the throttle input and joystick input with autohotkey but my throttle and joystick already make those jitters so that's a nogo unfortunately. You can change the settings in the options.lua file in the "C:\Users\<UserName>\Saved Games\DCS\Config" folder but I am trying to figure out how to 'trigger' this change in setting ingame.
  8. This is without reprojection. For some reason on my system, unless the framerate goes above ~55 FPS, it gets stuck at 45 FPS. Like there is a 'detent' at 45 FPS.
  9. Reverb G2; Initial back to back test on Syria, on the ground, in F/A-18: Steam VR: ~33-45 FPS, juddery mess Opencomposite: ~43-45 FPS, Butter smooth! On my R5 5600x and 1080ti system, with SteamVR I had to play with a PD of 0.7 ingame to not get a sickening juddery image. With Opencomposite, I can easily run it at 1 PD without any judders. Even when I am getting approximately the same FPS in both cases, Opencomposites is much much smoother.
