  1. Excellent advice. I would imagine many are just not tightening evenly or not experimenting enough. Haven't really had issues with it drooping and initial movement feels great to me. Actually feels like it is something mechanical which is great. Tightening down both then backing them off is a great way to approach it.
  2. This mod is absolutely fantastic. DCS should really just have this implemented by default makes customizing the game to your liking so straightforward. Eventually they really should add a setup within the controls setup UI to add additional custom key commands and have them get stored in Saved Games data. Huge thank you to everyone who has put time into this and the community key binds. I wanted to mention it might be worth updating the install/setup description to mention the InputCommands path should be different for those on DCS Open Beta. I think some follow this: "New commands are configured in the Saved Games\DCS\InputCommands directory, lets go through how to configure a hold command for the speedbrake on the F/A-18C Hornet. Without realizing they need to put InputCommands in Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\
  3. I was looking into using Helios to make some control setup a bit easier and avoiding having to modify .lua files every time I update DCS. Specifically doing a custom single press bind for eject. I like using one button as a modifier on my collective and them pull back on the collective to use it as an ejection lever. I can set this up in DCS with a modified LUA file no problem. I am brand new to Helios and didn't see a simple way to setup a bind that uses a modifier but I'm guessing I'm missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I like having the collective and throttle setup to use at the same time so I can use the throttle for other things in the Apache and vice versa.
  5. It is setup to have just a few mm of clearance from my seat and to allow my hand to grip it and pull without hitting the throttle on the left. and as I said I moved my throttle down and forward from where it is in this photo for more natural ergo position and still no issues with it contacting. You want to make sure your flaps lever can still have full articulation without hitting the grip depending on how you have it setup. i actually setup my collective to be an eject lever when flying fixed wing aircraft it is great haha.
  6. Works great if you are smart about the mounting setup. i actually have my throttle lower than this and still have no clearance issues just requires a little experimentation. Here is another photo.
  7. I use my VIRPIL collective as my eject lever when flying fixed wing aircraft. It is really annoying to have to modify the Input lua files to add additional command for single button eject whenever there is a DCS update. Would really love to have a non-bound by default option for Eject (single press) so people that want to bind it to a single press can do so. Yes I am aware of the other tools that can be used to do this, but have no desire to use those. I have mine setup to press big red button on collective and pull back on the lever to eject and it's great. But right now I have to adjust the lua files after each update with an extra line for this. {pressed = iCommandPlaneEject, down = iCommandPlaneEject, p = iCommandPlaneEject, name = _('Eject (push just once)'), category = _('Systems')}, I feel like it would be totally fine to simply add this line to the appropriate lua files for each aircraft without even changing the 3 button press that is expected elsewhere. Wouldn't be an issue for anyone that doesn't manually bind it, and make a lot of people's setups that much easier. Thanks!
  8. Is the mod download site down? I was looking to install it today but the entire site seems down at the moment?
  9. Would love to try to integrate a damper like this on my Ace Torq pedals. It does seem like it might have a few could mounting points for it. Man would be so nice if Virpil would offer damper kits directly.
  10. This isn't an issue at all. Don't even think it's accurate.
  11. Combat + will be most accurate to modern fighter behavior. Move forward over detent to activate axis to button for idle, lift and move back to activate axis to button for engine cutoff. Combat + also lets you push through the afterburner detent or lift over whatever you prefer. For Apache I would just set your saturation so you have 100% before you have to push through the detent. Or if you prefer just keep as is so you need to push through for more collective. And +1000 for following imacken's setup guide.
  12. https://imgur.com/a/XefozF9 Check the Imgur link here more photos posted there with more details. I am going to lower the throttle down a bit to make it a little more accurate to most modern fighter cockpits, was sitting a little high. It seems like most cockpits have the base of the throttle sitting right around the base seat height. Lowering the throttle also provides some extra clearance for the collective grip so win win. I also ordered some additional stick extensions I think raising the stick another 75-100mm will have it sitting just perfect.
  13. Question for people here that have sat in some modern fighter aircraft like the A-10C, F-15, F-18 etc. I am thinking my throttle is maybe mounted a little too high up? This is a pretty good balance of comfort and still being able to fit my collective but I think I could actually mount it a bit lower without compromising anything. Any thoughts on that? I guess the ideal would be to have your elbow at close to 90 degrees as possible right? My side stick mounting height is pretty much perfect as is I think.
  14. Finally finished transforming my driving sim rig to driving AND flight! Super happy with this setup it took me quite a lot of research and time to get everything just right. I managed to fit almost the entire VIRPIL catalog onto my rig after some very careful planning and measuring. Here is an Imgur post with full details for each photo. As well as more photos of the details: https://imgur.com/a/XefozF9 Here is a list of all the hardware: RIG -SimLab TR1 rig, with additional parts from SimLab and a few custom parts. The rig is only 500mm wide so very easy to put in smaller spaces. A bit wider with the HOTAS stuff mounted of course -OEM Honda S2000 seat (I have a highly modified S2000 that has Recaro seats so used this extra OEM seat. it's a great balance of comfort without getting in the way of flight sim stuff. Not easy to get your hands on so not really recommended unless you already have an extra laying around haha. -SimLab keyboard tray mount -SimLab mouse pad (modified to use countersunk mounting bolts) -SimLab shifter mount w/Fanatec shifter side mount -SimLab extra mounting points (2x) for mounting HOTAS on each side of seat -SimLab VESA mount to mount helicopter collective -SimLab TM Warthog stick and throttle mount, modified to mount VIRPIL hardware -Blue mic arm with Shure MV7X mounted to additional 4040 profile on side mount DRIVING -Fanatec Podium Racing Wheel (DD1 for Playstation/PC) -Fanatec Podium Endurance Module -Fanatec 320mm Alcantara wheel -Fanatec Clubsport shifter, mounted to shifter mount with SimLab Fanatec side mount -Fanatec handbrake mounted to shifter -Fanatec CSL Elite pedals modified with custom Tohatsu 25mm spring FLIGHT -VIRPIL VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base, universal base mount -VIRPIL VPC WarBRD Base -VIRPIL 200mm flight stick extension -VIRPIL VPC Constellation ALPHA-R grip -VIRPIL VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle -VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Base -VIRPIL VPC Hawk-60 Collective Grip -VIRPIL VPC ACE Torq Pedals I have been a VERY long time DCS watcher but finally decided to also become a full DCS enjoyer. Got super excited when they released the Apache. I have started off learning the A-10C II and loving every minute of it. Looking forward to learning to fly all the Warbirds, helicopters, everything. I love always having a new aircraft to learn all the small details it has been an absolute blast. I have been able to experience a lot of really cool flight simulators when I was growing up, even sitting in an F-16 cockpit at Oshcosh when I was 12 years old. My first ever flight sim I ever played was F-22 Lightning II from 1996. And had the chance to experience high end flight simulators at various airshows as I was growing up. But never had the chance to have my own flight sim setup at home until now. So yes I may have went a little overboard but who's gonna stop me? If anyone has any questions happy to go over details. Make sure to checkout the Imgur link it has captions for each photo and way more photos of the details.
  15. You can use axis to buttons to map the stick to function more as a hat, but I don't think there is a way to use the depress as a toggle to change it's behavior. You could have the stick setup as an axis as normal, and then use the depress as a modifier in DCS to only trigger the axis to buttons commands when it is depressed.
