  1. I'm wondering if multithreading changes this discussion or if the cache still makes the difference.
  2. Nearly a year later, now using a 5800X3D and decided to try the new multicore DCS. I wish I'd tried it with just the new CPU but pleased to say this mission holds FPS now around 60 even when everything hits the fan
  3. I hadn't realised I should land 2nd and it seems to work if I just get their first and land then wait for him to do his touch and go.
  4. It's probably ill advised but I find it easier to lock target onto him to make it easier to follow Re: the fuel tanks. I've done this mission about 8 times and most of them I ran out of fuel! I guess I need to read up on connecting tanks. I tried just sending rear to front but time to check the manual Enjoying it though, I must be if I'm prepared to try again and not just skip!
  5. I need to test by doing the whole mission again (which is a bit time consuming) but starting frrom the checkpoint a few times now I have no idea what to do and nothing seems to happen. I am betting when I get around to just starting from the beginning it will trigger and make sense.
  6. Ah the kneeboard can move. Not the tablet which pops up. Also the tablet is available in the kneeboard.
  7. Thanks. Still no luck but as you say I must have to find where to click for it to move.
  8. Oh! I tried that. Didn't work. Will give it another go cheers! No issue at all if its movable.
  9. Speaking of comms. Mission 2 if you start from the checkpoint, you haven't had a chance to tune the channels in and the tablet covers it over. So by the time you have entered the tablets waypoints it might be you've missed something. Maybe put the tablet somewhere it doesn't cover the kneeboard?
  10. I've had the Apache since release but I relearn it once every 2 months or so
  11. Yeah done. Also had to flick squelch up otherwise it was not nice
  12. Thanks. Makes sense. I just wanted to be sure as still not confident with Comms.
  13. Sorry if this ia a rookie error but would I be right in saying you can't use the normal radio comms for wingman e.g. engage ground targets? He ignores me except for when I'm prompted to hit space to let him fire via the mission text. Also there's a wingman 1 and 2 shows up in the DCS radio comms but only 1 seems to be with me. Cheers! Loved the first mission.
  14. By the time I put the targets in mid flight it worked but the FARP I couldnt see anywhere, so I wonder if its 1st three letters are different from the TGT ones.
  15. Average flying time would be good to know, as we can't save it and some of us don't have a lot of flying hours available
  16. I'm not bothered if a work in progress helicopter has issues. I think almost everyone here knows its not finished. Personally I feel there could be better, more detailed comms of what devs are doing though. For it to be an "open beta" which implies open beta "testers". I just don't enjoy flying/testing it when the response is often "works fine here" or a one liner days/weeks later in the patch notes related to the issues being reported. That's my choice though, I don't have to fly it. No worries.
  17. Thanks for the response. To be honest as a casual simmer the only thing which concerns me is his personal experience of it being really hard to fly compared to real life inspite of trying different controller settings. He is using one hell of an expensive and uncommon setup though. He comments on how tippy/rolling it is and the constant sas which isn't accurate. Views also recently shared by another real pilot on youtube as mentioned in this thread. I just wish it was a bit easier to fly Maybe that will come in time.
  18. Another real pilot talks about it here, along with his views on the flight model in general.
  19. Same here. Hadn't been on it for a good while and pulled up the controller info panel to see the green collective line and thought "oh was that a thing last I flew?". I feel so much better just hearing schoolio64d say its not normal and that he barely heard the sas saturation tone in 6 years! Thats all I wanted to know...am I doing something wrong or is this just not right at the moment in the beta? Now I know.
  20. I think it's because it can no longer keep you stable in a fixed position. It feels like it happens far too much right now though and holding force trim up doesn't seem to stop it for long.
  21. I've been away for a month or so and its a bit disappointing these sas issues (stability and the noise) are still present. I changed mine to a cow moo a long time ago otherwise I would just get really irritated and turn DCS off right now for Apache. Fingers crossed its a priority to be fixed.
  22. I completely understand where you're coming from based on my own experience. Im just having a break and seeing where it is after a bit more development.
  23. I'm the same with instant trim cyclic. My pedals though are dampened and don't spring back so I have springless selected. My stick is capable of doing that too but I soon realised leaving it sprung with instant trim worked best for me. Maybe I will find that eventually with the pedals too.
  24. Thanks for explaining. I'm now confused how this works if you have instant or central for cyclic but springless for pedals I take it the real thing has magnetic locking and force trim for pedals, not just cyclic?
  25. That's interesting. I should say I don't use force trim for pedals as mine are springless. Don't know yet if that's something I'll reconsider but I don't feel like I need it on them. Going to read your settings in more detail next time I fly.
