  1. What sort of performance increase does Dynamic Foveated Rendering offer on a top-end system, like my 4090/7950x3d? Is it enough to maintain a 60fps minimum in a relatively busy singleplayer mission?
  2. I think DLSS simply won't work with DCS - looking at other flight sims, such as MSFS, all digital cockpit displays become extremely blurry to the point of almost being unusable. This may limit DCS' implementation of DLSS to aircraft with analogue steam guages.
  3. Why are you asking about SteamVR and OpenXR? Will that lower GPU bottlenecks?
  4. I haven't actually tried since MT came out. However, it seems like it's still a GPU issue, as it seems most VR users are experiencing GPU bottlenecks during the busier missions.
  5. It appears that even with DFR, a 4090 still can't push enough pixels to maintain the Aero at 90fps in anything other than simple missions. As a result, I'm gonna sit it out until the 5090 comes out.
  6. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'm not interested in free flying or basic missions - I play DCS mostly in campaign mode, or co-op with mates. These missions tend to be relatively complex. Alas, looks like I'll have to wait a while, but at least my wallet loves me.
  7. I've scanned this thread, but can't find the info I'm looking for. Basically, will my 5800x3d (soon to be 7950x3d) + 4090 system run the Aero at 90fps courtesy of the new DFR, during most missions? If so, I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and upgrade from my G2. My wallet will hate me, but if I can get reprojection-free visuals with this killer HMD, I have to give it a go.
  8. No, they are basically the same resolution, so there is zero impact on performance.
  9. Thanks for the fantastic post, much appreciated. As a Reverb G2 owner, I find the reprojection artefacts to be terrible during A2A dogfights, so I only fly A2G in VR now. How does the Oculus compare to the G2 in this regard? Are there still ghost-like shadow blobs around nearby aircraft?
  10. I dread I dread to think what your fps is... 35 to 40ish?
  11. I have called for this for years. The suggestion is shot down by 99% of the community, who say ED shouldn't waste development resources on it. The thing is, performance tweaking is a HUGE part of setting up DCS. Most of us do it, VR users even more regularly. Getting everyone testing with identical methodology via an integrated benchmark would save so much pain. ED has never commented on building a benchmarking tool, but perhaps with all these new performance improvements, they'll spend a few days putting something simple together?
  12. These artefacts are caused by motion reprojection. It doesn't matter which method you use, all forms of motion reprojection have very similar issues. This is why VR games are meant to be played with zero reprojection. Unfortunately DCS is too demanding to be able to run at native frame rate, so we're forced to use reprojection, or be happy with stuttering instead.
  13. Given ED's past history with clouds and AI, I personally don't think they'll ever be able to stop the AI having x-ray vision. Even if they do get it working, the language used in the paragraph you quoted suggests it's many years away if it ever does come.
  14. The performance impact would be insignificant, identical to clear weather turbulence.
  15. Boggles the mind that we get new clouds which can’t actually be used in single player. This issue is unlikely to ever get fixed based on the previous clouds having the same issue for a decade. oh well, sure look pretty in screenshots.
