Great assets! May I suggest some towed artillery. I feel that would add a lot to DCS

It is true that the phantom was used and can be used on all of the maps we currently have but what I believe 79Au tried to say here was that it lacks the theater that most people associate with the phantom namely Vietnam. But we are getting some good signals from ED that they want to make such a map. But as others have pointed out, the phantom have been flown in combat over Sinai, syria and the persian gulf so there is no lacking in theaters

From what I have gathered the sight is the same but the aiming is kind of similar to what we see on the A-4 skyhawk mod.

I think there will be a gap. As it looks now the F-15 can at best be expected march 1st when the next OB update is scheduled. Seeing that there will be a full month to the next update tells me that the update will be YUUUGE. I don't think I will be buying the F-15 as I think it will be just another aircraft in my virtual hangar gathering dust. Easter falls quite late this year so I keep hoping for some good F-4 news in march.

Attack on H3 is a great film. And I also notice that they used a lot of technics that were used in the original top gun movie so the makers of that film were definitely fans. And I am also very impressed on how well the Iranians managed to utilized their phantoms and tomcats during that war

I am sure that the product will be top notch once you release it.

I'll admit that I am a bit disappointed about the lack of communication but on the other side it seems that HB have more or less adapted the "Helo games" approach after they released No mans sky in a terrible state. After the botched release they pretty much kept their mouth shut and slowly one patch after the other improved the game until it became a pretty awsome game.

I read that you could stall the phantom easily at 400 knots and enter a spin so I guess keeping an eye on AOA during fights will be crucial. But to add to what @Kalasnkova74 said, people say that about many planes and it comes from not knowing how to fly it.

truth to be told we did not see much cockpit footage in general so it can mean anything. I am just happy that we got so much footage of it in general, but i hope it does not get the "F-15E treatment". Remember in 2022 & beyond where they teased the ever living sºit out of the F-15 and the year came & went but no F-15?

well today is the day gents. The 2023 & beyond is coming. We will either see the F-4 in game for the first time or not. We might get ecstatic or really disappointed.

well, we will all find out together. Late 2023 would be a huge let down for sure. I am however pretty optimistic about DCS 2023 in general

I suspected that it was HB that was making an F-4 long before it was officially announced and I honestly thought it would be a naval version as they seem quite enthusiastic about naval aviation so i was a bit surprised that they were making the E model but it was a pleasant surprise as it is the version I wanted the most. It only makes sense to make the most exported and most produced version (at start at least) and the F-4E can also be used at all maps we currently have with little imagination.

Black smoke from the F-4's gave me a Greta Thunberg joke but I think it will be a bit to spicy and politically incorrect for a public forum

I second that. I know some people who only played DCS for one hour and stopped because they felt overwhelmed. Some people go into DCS thinking it's like war thunder

That might be. The question now is: Which is first? The Eagle or the Phantom? I even heard that the Kiowa is not that far away either. And from the looks of it even the Sinai map seems to be in the finishing stages. 2023 is going to be a good year for sure.

None of us knows really how far it is along. For all we know it might be with the beta testers now. I have talked with a few beta testers and they wont answer any questions (rightfully so i might add) The F-15 seems pretty much ready and just needs green light from ED and the kiowa seems pretty much ready as well. I am just hoping we will have our beloved phantom unvailed in the 2023 & beyond video.

With the amount of new features and modules on the assembly line in DCS the 23&beyond video is going to be lit any way. But I hope for the life of me that we get the unveiling of the phantom.

well said. I am sure HB did their very best to finish it but with a war putting a few employees in a bit of a pickle and combined with personal problems (And that's just the things we know of) things tend not to go as planed. I'm waiting for the 2023 & beyond video and I'm back to overdosing on Hopeium that we will see it unveiled there.
