  1. The Wujah al Hajar frequency of 121.50 MHz is the International Air Distress channel and is never used for non-emergency communication. Please change. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_emergency_frequency

  2. Is it possible to change Wujah al Hajar as well? I always cringe when I call Tower on 121.5! (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_emergency_frequency)
  3. Hi all. For those who want to use your fragile modern jet the air bases below should work. Some runways are rather short (eg. Dinan, Kenley) and some parking places are on grass so watch it. All except 3 have runway lights. FRANCE: Amiens-Glisy [59] Poix [56] Beauvais-Tille [44] Creil [46] Evreux [26] Conches [40] *Carpiquet [19] *Dinan-Trelivan [49] UK: Ford [31] Tangmere [30] Odiham [39] *Farnborough [52] Kenley [43] West Malling [41] []=Air base number; *=no lights Also, these have paved runways but taxiways are gravel or grass: FR: Orly[57], Villacoublay[42], Saint-Andre-de-lEure[70], *Cormeilles-en-Vexin[45] UK: Needs Oar Point[28] Minsky's wonderful Aerodrome Data and Frequencies-collection does not yet include the new airports, but he posted the sheets for them in this thread:

  4. The Viggen boogie landing gear did indeed reduce wheel pressure, but not enough to make it able to operate from soft grass fields; it was a heavy bird. All the road bases that I know of was prepaired for fighter use beforehand. And the boogie did help with straighten up the aircaft at crosswind landings.
  5. Viggen couldn't operate from grass fields in real life (I know this first hand:). L-39 can according the real manual, and maybe the F-5E.
  6. I fly jets on the Normandy 1944 map. Carpiquet, Evreux, Conches and Tangmere all have asphalt/concrete runways. Normandy is my favorite map and my "home" since two years, flying both jets and props. Jets from the four above and props from the grass fields in the south.
  7. I did buy CA for that reason only and for me it has been well worth it. Did bind wheel to joystick and accelerator to throttle to make it easier to drive. BTW, flying a hot air balloon is cool too: https://grinnellidesigns.com/project-hab/
  8. It sure is a great scouter. The level of detail on the new maps are indeed really good. If you have Combined Arms I can recommend driving around in a jeep as well. Very uncombat-ish but I find it quite pleasant to drive around on the base and neighborhood etc. As this guy do below:
  9. If you save it as .odt then both MS Word, LO and Gdocs can read it. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDocument) ODT is the ISO (and NATO) document standard.
  10. This time Cap from Grim Reapers flying with a display pilot who also is happy with the DCS flight model. Very light and responsive controls, and an unusual high stick. Nice walkaround and cockpit tour in the beginning and summary at the end. Mostly inaudible talk during flight, unfortunately.

  11. He is quite happy with the FM but find the trim to be broken. I personally would like a bit more immersive engine start, with the whining, sputter and smoke, but that is true for all the props.
