And how would that work? -
F-4E bombing modes real world usage?
SuperKermit replied to SuperKermit's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Fantastic, thanks! That was exactly the information I was looking for! -
Could anyone please elaborate on the correct Stab. Augmentation setting for dogfighting? Can all axis stay on or should some of them be deactivated? Didn’t read anything about it in the manual…

F-4E bombing modes real world usage?
SuperKermit replied to SuperKermit's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
That’s correct. But not very helpful though -
I just started reading into the manual and came across all those different bombing modes. Now I wonder if and under what circumstances they would be used IRL. Which of them were a thing for conventional bombing, which ones only nuclear? Which ones will be useful for DCS (multiplayer)? I am mostly into A2A and would like to know, which modes are the most effective and efficient ones.

Here is a great USN training video from 1960 about that topic: Low Level Air Navigation

It is clear that the 104 radar probably ist not the best performing one. But 6 nm detection (not even lock on) range for a fighter seems VERY low. Even the F-5 radar does MUCH better! So I wonder where this exact number is coming from!

Mission 11 (CAP for Kiowas) - how?
SuperKermit replied to SuperKermit's topic in F-5E Black Sea Resolve '79 Campaign
Yes, indeed! Smarter than before and smarter than your own AI buddies Thanks for looking into that matter! -
Mission 11 (CAP for Kiowas) - how?
SuperKermit replied to SuperKermit's topic in F-5E Black Sea Resolve '79 Campaign
That's how the MiGs do it as well with their R-60s Flying in a straight line in order to aim the Sidewinders makes you pretty vulnerable as well... I'm curious about your assessment! Many thanks in advance! -
Mission 11 (CAP for Kiowas) - how?
SuperKermit posted a topic in F-5E Black Sea Resolve '79 Campaign
First of all please let me state that I very much like that campaign as it creates a really intense immersion! However, now I really struggle with mission 11 - CAP to protect the Kiowas: after returning from WP 4 back to WP 3 I encounter that flight of 4 MiGs and it seems to be impossible to defeat them. I might manage to kill one of them but then closely after I get shot by a missile every time. I think I am pretty good at BFM but in those 4v4 I really struggle. What is the best strategy to employ my AI wingmen? What is the best strategy for myself against the all-aware AI MiGs? They just seem to have the perfect SA... -
Can you quote a source for that data?

There is some footage in the recent trailer + several screenshots from inside!

I am currently preparing my control setup for the Phantom launch and I wonder what the original typeface of the cockpit panels is? Maybe Heatblur would like to elaborate on which font they are using? Many thanks in advance!

AFAIK Norm 81A and 81B had two versions each. It is really hard to find comprehensive information on the net how exactly each of them looked. Do you know more about that? -

German is fine. Thanks again -
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge! I wonder how much the added weight influenced the flight characteristics.

What book is that information from? -
According to this source https://www.david-gledhill.co.uk/the-phantom/the-suu-23-gunpod/ it was used for A-A and also had an LCOS.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer! It would be indeed interesting how the Royal Navy / Air Force handled that matter.
-
Was that also the case for the Navy Phantoms?
-
I was just thinking whether it would be easier for ED or for Razbam to derive an FF F-15A/C from their existing product.

Does anybody have an idea what the most time and resource consuming part of a module development is? Is it rather the FM, the systems modeling or the aircraft design?
-
Yes, "if". But the Eagles first flight was in 1976 with the "C" coming out three years later.
