  1. What is the recommended pattern altitude? Didn’t find that in the manual.
  2. I found the reason. First I have to apologize and thank you for giving thoughts to my issue. Ahem… I mistakenly bound the gear lever on my throttle to the gear circuit breaker instead of the gear itself. So the gear never went up after takeoff which stopped the fuel flow from the wing tanks Sorry for the confusion and thanks again for your support! P.S.: it’s amazing how good that thing flies even with the gear down
  3. Ah, that’s new to me. Must have missed that in the manual. Thx for the explanation! It seems I have misunderstood that emergency function that force feeds fuel. This is from the manual: ”When the aircraft reaches a low fuel state automatic fuel transfer activates, forcing valves from internal wing and external tanks open regardless of what has been selected on the panel.” Shouldn’t that prevent the situation I experienced? Or does that system bot kick in because it thinks I have 4.000 lbs remaining?
  4. Hm, could be possible. What is the default setting of that switch? Anyhow, somewhere I read that the fuel system has an emergency function that enables fuel flow from all tanks in a low fuel state regardless of the switch settings.
  5. Not right now. In the scenario where that happened, no enemies were involved. I was hoping the number 4.000 lbs would ring some bells at someone like "ah, that's wing tank capacity, maybe you forgot to activate wing tanks." BTW: what happens when I do not have an external tank loaded, but the Ext. Fuel Feed Switch is switched to e.g. Center Tank Feed - would that prevent fuel from the wing tanks being used?
  6. Hi everybody, I just started to learn the F-4 over the holidays and I just love the module. However, I struggle to understand the fuel system completely. I read the manual and several threads here on the forum. My issue is: I run out of fuel and the engines stop, however the fuel gauge still reads 4.000 lbs+ remaining. This can't be empty fuel remaining. What do I do wrong? Forget to flip a switch? Many thanks in advance!
  7. What exactly are the parameters determining the dot size on AUTO (e.g. which screen resolution results in which dot size)?
  8. 1978: https://www.swissinfo.ch/ger/politik/geschichten-der-schweizer-diplomatie_tiger-f-5-anatomie-einer-flugzeugbeschaffung/45950666
  9. No mentioning of fixed bugs or new functionality in the newsletter, however. Only optical changes mentioned. Do we know for sure there will be functional updates?
  10. Ah, now I understand your point. Thank's for laying that out!
  11. I wonder if this is really correct. Doing a turn vertically also means a slower turn velocity at the top. That means less drag and thus energy wasted. Additionally the gravity helps with overcoming the moment of intertia. I do not want to start a debate on BFM principles but isn't that the whole idea of going vertical.
  12. Would you mind sharing a link to those charts? I am a complete Discord noob and find finding something there extremely cumbesome
  13. During a dogfight that would be helpful in addition to the Aural Tone System!
  14. According to the Heatblur manual the F-4 at least can: "A second AIM-7 can be fired immediately at the same target, if desired, by releasing, then squeezing the trigger a second time- holding it on the second actuation." https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/stores/air_to_air/aim_7.html I would suspect that the same applies to the F-14.
  15. Many thanks for the input! I'll try that!
  16. First of all - I really love Vaicom! The immersion it creates, especially in the Tomcat, is fantastic! However, every time I update DCS, VoiceAttack or TrackView, something breaks. Either the module is not recognized or the Comms menu cannot be opened anymore or TrackView does not record. Sometimes all of it. I know that I have to reset the lua code in Vaicom after DCS updates or repairs. I know that deleting the Export.lua might solve things. The Comms menu might come back after commenting out the Vaicom line in the Export.lua. But in the end it all is mostly hit and miss. Could somebody please elaborate on how to get everything running properly and how to update those programs without breaking anything?
  17. Does DCS 2.9.4 now include the mission 11 update?
  18. Considering that the target and IP positions can be only entered in 100ft increments into the WRCS (plus INS drift error) it seems clear to me, that for non-nuclear weapons delivery all the computer guided delivery modes are rather useless.
  19. I wonder how Jester will handle all this.
  20. Does the corridor need to be actively chosen? What happens if you just enter CAA mode without touching the Pinky Switch? Wouldn’t the center corridor be selected as default?
  21. I guess “UI Designer” was not an existing job title back then
  22. Now that’s smart: adding even more mental load in a close combat situation.
  23. I understand that in CAA mode the Pinky Switch alters the scan corridor. However, how does one change the A-A weapon whilst being in that mode then?
  24. What about the flight path marker in the landing mode? That one should of course be referenced to outside, right?
  25. Karons site is fantastic! Thx for pointing out. Many valuable comments above - thx to everybody contributing! From my understanding everything that applies to the F-14s BVR tactics is also valid for the F-4 with the peculiarity that - in order for the pulse radar to be able to acquire a target - one would need to stay at or below target altitude, right?
