  1. I don't want to promise a time table, but I think within the next couple of months is realistic. Slapping a second plane into a mission is actually really easy, but I don't want to half-ass it either and make sure both players have fun and reasonable objectives to meet. Some missions will need more reworking than others, but, yeah. Call it April. If it's not out by then, please come yell at me. lol. Glad you're enjoying the missions.
  2. Thank you for sharing your feedback! I hadn't heard this before. Interesting. It certainly still works for me. Though again, I do still have easy comms enabled globally so that could be why. I do agree in principle about folks learning the PTT systems properly. I guess at it's core, this mission set is aimed mostly at newer or returning players, and the backslash easy comms menu is still predominantly what is listed in tutorials and videos, so I'm wary of removing that functionality. I'll certainly keep abreast of any changes, and if that utility is removed, I'll rework whatever I need to make sure everything works as well as it can within the framework of whatever ED decides to implement. Bearing all this in mind, communications practice/tutorials is something that the mission set is missing, so I may look at adding missions that teach the PTT functions and how to use them, and then I may feel better about removing the easy comms aspect that exists currently throughout. At the end of the day, you can't please everyone, but I always enjoy hearing others' thoughts, so again, I appreciate you taking the time!
  3. Happy 2024 to everyone! No mission update today, but I do have a couple of things to report: - Thank you to Forum user @tanr for diagnosing what was going on with Easy Comms not working in the advanced tanking missions. Apparently, now, you need to disable easy comms on the global game settings, and also use the alternate comms menu keybind and not the '\' easy comms keybind in order for it all to work. Bearing this in mind, I'm going to leave easy comms in place and update the mission briefs to reflect this. I don't want anyone to have to mess with global settings on their game just for a couple of my missions that still offer a good challenge even with easy comms enabled. - I think I've pushed this particular project about as far as I can, and am considering this mission set essentially complete. Over the next few weeks I'm going to go back over every mission and ensure all briefings, triggers, etc. are correct and functioning and may add some small quality of life improvements like more client aircraft, cold start options, etc., but the actual missions will remain unchanged. What is in the works next? I'm going to expand the expert level missions present here into their own stand-alone mission set, improving the current ones, adding two-player options, along with adding more missions. I'll most likely make a separate thread for that, but will also update here and use this OP as a download hub for anything I add in the future. YouTube tutorials are still coming for the current missions. I've done a few rough first drafts and am still settling on the format and pacing that I think is appropriate. Trying to keep them all under 2-3 mins and I have a tendency to be long winded, and I also suck at video editing, so WIP, but they're coming. Look for the channel link to be posted here and in the OP very soon. Thanks again to you all for keeping me engaged and passionate about this project. Truly it's awesome. Until the next update; Good hunting, Vipers.
  4. Interesting. I just gave it a try and couldn't get it to work on my end. Would you mind sending me the .miz file in a private message so I can take a look? I'm sure I'm just missing something. Thanks for this!
  5. This is lowkey one of the best additions to the Viper in the last year. It makes it all so much better. Especially holding the lock between Dogfight, Missile Override and Nav, and the seeker automatically tracking, it's spectacular. 100/100.
  6. Question for all those following: This mission pack has always been 'not tutorials', but I'm trying to gauge interest in if I did YouTube videos of step-by-step tutorials for each of these missions. Basically an accompanying YouTube channel specifically for this mission pack, where you could queue up the video for the mission you're doing and follow along. Or at least the Weapons employment missions (which were always the bedrock of everything else). So, if you DIDN'T have a basic understanding of the systems in the jet, you could watch me do the mission you're flying and follow along. I'm just searching for ways to make this mission pack better and more inclusive for all players that want to learn the Viper and rather than try to build in tutorials to the Mission Editor, I thought an accompanying YT channel would be not only easier, but more fun for me. So, if you think this would be a worthwhile endeavor, I'd love to hear what you think. Interact with this message, send me a private one, or respond here, whatever works for you.
  7. Welcome to the Viper! My favorite jet in DCS. A couple things when it comes to master modes, I see you have Missile Override and Dogfight bound which is awesome, but also good to know is that you can be in AG Master mode and then switch to one of those two and when you 'center' the override switch, it goes back to AG. Just a cool tidbit. Also, here's my bindings for the CM3 throttle and stick (Not your stick; it's a VKB) but it might be worth a look to see if you've overlooked anything: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3327876/ Also, I have a pretty extensive training/proficiency mission pack for the Viper that might come in handy for practicing everything from basic skills to advanced/expert level stuff. Just put up a new update yesterday, actually. Enjoy! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328191/
  8. UPDATE: v.3.0 **New Missions Added** - Fun: Viper Carrier Landings - Yeah, you read that right. Show those Navy pukes that Vipers can land on boats too. (Yeah, we actually can.) - Expert: 'Two Dogs' Refuel - Inspired by true events from Dan Hampton's book 'Viper Pilot', this is an emergency aerial refueling situation. There is no margin for error. Link up with the tanker or die. For AAR experts only. **Mission Improvements** - .Basic - Beginner Formation Flying - This mission has been reworked a bit. Different location in the Caucuses, more gentle turns, but objective is the same. Formation flying. Learn it, live it, love it. - Advanced - Low Level CCRP Strike - Objective remains the same: conduct a low level precision strike with high-drag bombs. Now includes a second client aircraft armed with 12x MK-82 Snakeyes, and a second target following the first one, so you can get more repetitions done in a single playthrough, and practice configuring for bomb release & intervals when loaded with more than two bombs. This will most likely be the final update in 2023 outside of grammatical/triggers/patch related fixes. This mission pack is nearly a year old now, and has over 3,500 downloads since I've uploaded it and I can't be more thankful for everyone's engagement, kind words and suggestions. It's hard to believe this just began as 10-12 missions that I made just for myself to practice dropping bombs, and has evolved to where it is now. It never would have happened without all of you. Thank you.
  9. The snowy landing mission is lowkey one of my favorites. haha. But thank you very much for the kind words, fellow Viper advocate. Comments like this really do mean a lot to me and very much help drive my motivation to try to rework, improve and add to the missions. Glad they're helping, and good hunting out there.
  10. Maintenance update only today. v1.3 Apparently, something was introduced in the last few updates that made it so all the missions where 'easy communications' were disabled did not allow for any contact with the tanker aircraft. Until I can figure out what broke, easy comms are enabled for all missions involving aerial refueling, regardless of difficulty. If you're having trouble contacting tankers with the version you currently have, please download v1.3 and it should fix the issue. Apologies for not catching this sooner. Also, JDAM Missions are coming, and more will be added to this mission pack as we see more weapons added to the SE. I won't promise that it'll ever reach the proportions of my Viper mission pack, as it's not my primary airframe, but it will grow slowly over time.
  11. Maintenance update only today. v2.9.1 Apparently, something was introduced in the last few updates that made it so all the missions where 'easy communications' were disabled did not allow for any contact with the tanker aircraft. Until I can figure out what broke, easy comms are enabled for all missions involving aerial refueling, regardless of difficulty. If you're having trouble contacting tankers with the version you currently have, please download v2.9.1 and it should fix the issue. Apologies for not catching this sooner.
  12. Maybe I'm slow, but I'm confused. Does this require the Hornet UFC? Or can it just be joined with it if you already have it. It seems like it's standalone but I honestly can't tell. Looks awesome though. Layout is right off the image of the Block 70 on Lockheed's website, which I think is badass.
  13. Small update posted today with two missions to practice and familiarize yourself with the new Datalink and HARM targeting functions introduced in DCS v.2.9. Includes two new missions: - .Basic - TNDL Datalink - Sterile environment with two 4-ships in order to familiarize yourself and practice working with the new Datalink functions. - Weapons - HARM Datalink - Four emitters as targets for your 4-ship of Vipers. No launchers, no threats. Details in the mission briefing.
  14. To all following: This mission pack is not dead. I'm still working on a few things. Expect a small update this week specifically to practice new 2.9 TDOA/TNDL Datalink and HTS functions. As I've stated before, a combination of Fall being a busy time for me professionally, mission building that I do for my DCS Squadron, and with how fleshed out this mission pack has gotten overall, are the reason for the irregular updates. Thank you again to all who have participated, given suggestions, and offered feedback. I appreciate you all and always welcome more. Stay frosty, Vipers. More is coming.
  15. For anyone who has them/considering buying them, Foxx Mounts will have mounting plates around November 1st of this year. Source: Direct commo with Mr. Foxx via email. Also they're great mounts. Compatible with lots of accessories from other brands as well. Using them for about 6 months with no complaints.
  16. It's a little different than most mods like the Bronco or A4, as it overwrites/replaces core DCS world files. It goes in your main install directory. So like, mine for example is F: -> Program Files -> Eagle Dynamics -> DCS World OpenBeta. Head to the Sufa Discord or download page and once you have version 3.9 (most recent) downloaded and unzipped, open up F16I SUFA V3.9 -> F16I Sufa and you should see three folders: CoreMods, Mods and Scripts. Drag and drop or copy/paste into your DCS OpenBeta folder. It'll ask you to overwrite a bunch of files and do it. That should get it installed. The PW-229 engine sounds and the Weapon Pack are completely optional and don't need to be installed for the rest of the mod to work. The 4k cockpit files are just for if you load it up and your ICP and engine instruments are blurry. Then follow the same instructions above and drop it into the core game DCSW OB folder and it should fix it right up. Hope this helps. Just remember, save a copy of the Sufa mod, or be ready to re-download it, because you'll need to reinstall it after each update.
  17. Small update for September, but a few new missions that I think are nice additions. Any issues you have with the missions working properly, please let me know! v.2.8 - Semptember 16th, 2023 Missions Added: - Fun - Marianas Tanker Shoot - Bored with aerial refueling? Frustrated with it? Take out some stress on no less than 22 defenseless KC-135 Tankers over the island of Guam. Unlimited missiles, fuel and cannon ammo. - Advanced - Fight the Phoenix - Square off against an F14B Tomcat armed with the longest range air to air missile in DCS: The AIM-54 Phoenix. Practice how to evade, fight and win against this unique weapon system. - Expert - Dusk & Night Wild Weasel - Fly into a randomly generated short range SAM system (SA11, 6, 3 or 8 ) and practice low-light and full dark Weasel Tactics. No labels. No F10. - Admin/Quality of Life updates: - All Basic & Advanced formation flight missions now terminate with the AI flight lead landing at the final steerpoint, allowing you to attempt formation landings to culminate the mission. - All AIM-120 missions now have 2 client aircraft, allowing you to choose between AIM-120B or C model missiles. - Grammatical and contextual updates to multiple mission briefings.
  18. Thank you! Yep, if you're handy with the mission editor, just drop another jet in there, make your steerpoints and you should be good to go. In some of the expert missions I think there's triggers that are linked to the jet, so that's probably the only thing that wouldn't function if the second jet performed the same action, but most of them are linked to targets so should still work fine.
  19. That one's tough dude. (And it's supposed to be. It's in the advanced section for a reason.) For a couple reasons. 1. The JF-17 is a peer-level opponent for the Viper. The SD-10 is very capable and like your 120s, has a soft lock and passive guidance capability. Just because there's a missile in the air doesn't mean your launch warning will go off like with a Fox-1 or older Fox 3s, because the missile is getting guidance from the aircraft. I talk about this in the 'Without AWACS' mission briefing. I just realized it's missing from the AWACs version, so I'll fix that. But it means that once your warning goes off, the missile is probably in terminal guidance and there is mere seconds to impact. 2. The JF in that mission has a jammer, so you have to burn through to get a good lock. It's nasty to go up against, just like yours is. I've attached a track here where I defeat him. (Took me two missiles, but that's not uncommon.) My jammer is never even on, so take a look. Watch how I keep him in my radar until the 'A' on the HUD switches to a 'T' and then I crank all the way over to defend. He never even fires at me. My advice is to run the 'Weapons' missions for the 120. The [RWS] STT & DTT as well as the TWS Mode missions. These are threat-free environments where you can just focus on getting the radar mechanics down without worrying about getting shot down or getting task saturated. Last thing, don't get frustrated. I made these missions to practice the things that I personally had failed dozens upon dozens of times. It's difficult. Keep at it. Good hunting. Jeff BVR.trk
  20. You are correct, the SA19 is optically guided. To my knowledge no countermeasures have an effect. Violent evasive maneuvers to overwhelm guidance and steering are the way to do it. There's a reason the Tunguska is so deadly. I freakin' hate those things. Get out of it's max range (4nm) and/or get above its max altitude of 16k feet.
  21. What type of targets are they? Small? Maneuvering? I find TWS really tough to use with small fighter-size targets. Remember TWS is just trying to predict and build tracks when it sweeps over the targets. If the aspect is constantly changing, it will be tough to build tracks good enough for TWS lock. I typically stick with DTT in the RWS mode as that is far more reliable. However, for practicing your TWS and radar skills in general, check out this mission pack: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3328191/ Lots of good practice runs in there that are easy to run quickly while you're learning. Happy hunting.
  22. I think this is the highest praise I could ever receive. And exactly why I efforted to build these missions in the first place. Thank you, truly. As for your other suggestions, I really like the concept, and to be honest, I've put the NTTR missions on a bit of a pause simply because I don't want to just recreate the current mission pack, but in the desert with longer transit times. I want there to be a different aspect to it, and this has definitely sent my thinking in a new direction, so thank you for that. I will say though, that I'm hesitant to dictate tactics in such a specific way. One thing I've been told by some folks who have sent me private messages, is that they love having new Squadron members use my missions to learn systems, specifically because they don't teach tactics, and each Squadron likes to do things a little differently. Also, I'm not an expert in tactics, and I'd hate to to push out missions with a pass/fail so specifically laid out if that isn't the only way that the attack can be carried out successfully. I think stuff like that is much more suited to the hardcore MilSim crowd, of which I am most definitely not a part of. Love those guys' passion, but not for me. And I don't have any desire to build missions I'm not passionate about and want to fly myself. And just thinking about trying to build that level of grading system with our current mission editor kind of makes my head hurt. I'm a somewhat casual player, like most of us I imagine, and that's who I want to make missions for. Where even if you only have 15 minutes to hop in the Viper before bed, you can feel like you accomplished something. I dunno, I'm rambling at this point so I'll wrap this up. I can't promise NTTR missions will come quickly, but I can promise that when/if they do, they will offer something different beyond what I've done with the current mission pack. Exactly what, and how different? Still working. But this project is still very much alive. As for updating this mission pack, if I can speak on a personal level for a moment, for anyone following this thread, Fall is a very busy time for my business that I run, so I'll certainly do my best to keep up monthly updates on this, but I won't just push out fluff. If I'm not updating, it's because I don't have anything that's worth adding. Not every idea is a winner, and I have a trash can full of 'under construction' missions that probably won't see the light of day. Even if I'm not here, I'm here. Thanks to everyone for your continued support and feedback. It really does mean a lot to me.
