Will I loose something in DCS switching from a G2 to a Quest 3?
diego999 replied to Galinette's topic in Virtual Reality
Clarity and definition from edge to edge of the image triumphs over anything else the G2 might offer over the Quest 3, in my opinion. -
In my experience, changing those values was always for the worse. Leave those settings as default. Meta software does a good enough job adjusting the numbers on its own.

If you're using a cable, try a different one. It might be on its last legs. If you're using air link, check your router for conectivity issues.

This is solid advice.

You have active radar missiles. He doesn't. If you go into a merge with a Tomcat against a Su-27, you're doing it wrong.

After the recent Afghanistan situation and Sinai -that spent more than a year without a single update- I think most of us are realizing that. And not in a positive way.

The frustration, in my case at least, comes from the perceived lack of honesty. Afghanistan was shown in very nice looking videos and they talked over and over again about their new amazing map tech. Then we found out the released map looks worse than Caucasus except for a few small high detailed areas. And when asked they said maybe we'll fix it, maybe we won't. That's not nice. My last purchase was the Phantom, and I don't regret it as it is a fantastic module, even with its problems and the stuff that wasn't added yet. And by the look of things, I won't be buying anything else until they get their **** straight priorities sorted.

Intel 285K reviews going live...
diego999 replied to EightyDuce's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's why you don't buy the hype or believe those "leaks" released by Intel or AMD themselves. Watching the new Intel flagship lose in some games against the 5800X3D is beyond pathetic. -
Memory 32GB / 64GB? 3000Mhz ,32OOMhz
diego999 replied to PLUTON's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes. Specially if you play VR or multiplayer. -

Pretty much this. My Quest 3 dies in under two hours using it over wifi. WIth a generic USB-C cable the battery won't go lower than 80-85% no matter how long I use it. Not to mention the slightly worse visual quality.

Something like this? Add static structures and check "DEAD" box on the right. Or are you looking for something more complex?

The minimum so the aircraft doesn't complain.

After the half baked Kola and Afghanistan (that looks worse than Nevada), no thanks.

Tower PC, 10400, 3060ti, 64GB of RAM, Quest 3 here. I agree.

DCS Optimized Textures Powershell Script
diego999 replied to zbysiek's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
You mean the vanilla mod without any modification? Yes it runs fine on my end, I've been playing in Sinai for a week building some missions. No issues. -
Nobody knows until those chips are released and tested by independent reviewers. Don't buy into the "official" hype from Intel and AMD. Avoid the 14900. Expensive, runs too hot, draws too much power and has a remarkable tendency to kill itself. If you can, wait until next year. AMD is launching new chips and, in a couple of months, we should have the full picture to make the best decision. I'm on the same boat, as my 10400 is showing its age.

"VR" and "plug and play" don't belong in the same sentence. If you don't have the patience to tweak, test, search, and tweak again for several days after you put everything together, VR is not for you. Once you find your right balance between eyecandy and performance, it all becomes much easier. I'm going to paint a more optimistic picture than LucShep about hardware requirements. You can totally play VR with a modest PC, with compromises, of course. Forget about cranking everything to the max or playing missions with hundreds of units with a 3060ti like the one I have (with a Quest 3 and a 10400), but with mid settings, it's pretty enjoyable. You're going to need 64GB of RAM tho, that's non negotiable. Whatever you choose, keep your rig and your VR headset balanced. A 4090 is totally wasted on a Quest 2, for example. Inversely, don't buy a Pimax 8K and pair it with a 3060ti.

Wow. It looks amazing. -
Any update as to when mid-mission saves will be implemented?
diego999 replied to goot66's topic in DCS Core Wish List
For me, the "world map" is uncontested as #1 at DCS vaporware award contest. -

Patch notes look promising: a lot of fixes. Testing night I guess? Thank you.

Have you tried excluding DCS main folder and saved games folder from your AV?

Take all the time you need to make things right. Last patches have been definitely on the disappointing side.
