I've been wondering about the (non) link between the ABRIS and the PVI-800. Am I right in thinking if you load a mission with no waypoints created in the mission editor and then create a route with the ABRIS in game, these waypoints cannot transferred into the PVI-800 by any other means than manually inputing the coordinates through the PVI-800's keypad? (Does ABRIS show the lat/long of waypoints created in it?) As a result, doesn't this make the ABRIS's ability to save routes somewhat redundant becasue the PVI won't have this navigational data and therefore you'll have no autopilot for this route? Are there any operational techniques to get around this?

Any model of Harrier.

Well it certainly paid off! :D

Bear in mind in real life they'd be able to take cover in folds in the ground or a fox hole! I guess not having highly fragmenting 30mm rounds balances this out. Having said that though, in a mission I made one burst flattend four closely spaced soldiers quite realisticly!:)

Bearing in mind that many of your customers do not frequent these forums and so may miss much of this vital information (all of these thread on trimming for instance) would you consider adding content to the final Black Shark manual? I have found that much like the manual for LO:FC, BS's manual is a very technical document and could do with more in-practise/background content. Obvioulsy I'm not asking for this on my behalf because here I am reading it :D, but think it really could be of value to others. (...well okay, I could sit and read threads like this all day but still...)

Just played the mission once and my thoughts are: well done I enjoyed it (not completed it yet though!) I'd add score for the player against the SAM, tanks and so forth so I can tell I'm blowing up the right things. Also, naming waypoints STP, IP, ATTK and so forth so we know what we're expected to do when we reach them.

I don't have pedals so I find holding down the trimmer while twisting for rudder a real problem while using any other button on the cyclic. For this reason I prefer using the flight director mode and occasional taps of the trim button when it gets hot.

I love the BS damage modeling. This really is the first game where it really feels like systems run off of one another - every time I hear the 'dink' 'dink' of AAA hitting me I start sweating wondering if five minutes later I'm going to drop out the sky. I think in every other sim I've played i don't even consider aborting until the HUD goes or an engines on fire! :D

Ground vehicles in DCS and reguarding trees
McVittees replied to graywo1fg's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Darn! I was going to suggest that! :) Even if they weren't made collidable with the player (which isn't to much of a biggie for me) they should block AI LOS calculations and ground vehicle movement. I'd be over the moon if ED added this! -
Static Aircraft Won't Explode. "Prepare Mission"?
McVittees replied to r-unit's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I notice this when attacking a bunker in a mission I made. When the bunker was a static object it took four Vikhr to destroy (I say destroy - it never exploded) but when the bunker was set as a vehicle it blew up after two. This was a problem in Lock On:FC as well. I'm suprised it hasn't been fixed yet. -
Damage Report I think it would be a very handy feature to have some kind of sytem failure report post mission. A few [cough] times I have crashed from what I thought was a sytem failure after taking AAA hits but I wasn't sure (i.e. my flying may have just been inept ;)). Since the modelling of the KA-50's systems is so thorough it would be really interesting to find out in the mission debriefing (or in a text file output) that I had lost system X and this had cascaded to system Y moments before I crashed. Would something like this be difficult to implement? Could it also be applied to flight dynamics?

Seeing all this talk about trimming I was thinking of buying a Saitek Evo FF and using that for the cyclic and my x52pro throttle for the collective. Am I being premature? - I've read that FF joysticks can be quite imprecise.

Now that I have BS how do I get Russian letters ...
McVittees replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Why bother? I guessed what it was saying the same as every other game install i'd done and just changed destination drive, clicked the highlighted button et voila - installed! :) -
Fantastic stuff! What is even more special is the complexity of the sim matches the detail in the manual. :)

X52 Pro - Profiles in game or in SST software?
McVittees replied to V1Rotate's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm not sure about this, but if you make "Ctrl+G" a macro (rather than just a key press) it is un-interuptable and should avoid this problem. What i have found a problem is the Saitek programming software not picking up the difference between LEFT and RIGHT SHIFT/CTRL/ALTERNATE. As lots of Black Sharks key presses are LEFT/RIGHT specific, the only work around is to re-map those controls before adding them to your x52 profile - not much fun. Are you sure? I thought i did this last night when I set a button to 'unprogrammed' in Saitek's profile editor so I could map via the in-game controls menu. I will check this. -
Well I think I found part of the problem - my Saitek x52 doesn't (as far as I can tell) know the difference between LEFT ALT and RIGHT ALT (or SHIFTs for that matter) and so even though Toggle Hover Mode was mapped, it wasn't engaging. Using the keyboard I can get it to work okay, but I think there must be some functional details about the conditions underwhich you engage auto hover that I am unaware of because it seems quite haphazard at the moment. Oh well, when we get the english manual I'm sure the details will be in there. :)

Well here's to hoping ED beat 'em! They've definitely got the best product I've come accross since F4 was released!
-
That one's got me stumped too!
-
Okay, I downloaded Black Shark from the 1C website and it cost me less than £12. £12. Now, I'm not an economist and I am going to buy the english version, but how on earth do developers like ED survive on margins like this? If 1C are selling it for so little how much are ED getting? Bearing in mind Blackshark is not going to sell 500,000 copies I wonder if ED do it just for the love! Or are products like Blackshark subsidised by work they do for governments (ala StealBeasts Pro PE)? What's all the more suprising is the impression from reading this forum is ED seem to have a stable and clear vision of the future that will actually happen! Can anyone shed some light on they achive this remarkable feat?!

Has anyone managed to work out how to operate the auto pilot modes (hover and auto route)? In fact has anyone figured out you make the auto pilot point at the Shkval aim point? Without the auto hover holding position to use Vikhar and the cannon is quite...tricky (bearing in mind I don't even have any wind or turbulance in my missions!)

What command lines? What are you up to repent? :)
-
Huh?! I've only had my X-52Pro 5 months!!!
-
I'd recommend the download followed by the english DVD version when it's released. I think it depends on a) how soon you want it and b) how easy it is for you get Ukash sorted (which was the method I used). If you do go for the download there's plenty of help around and you'll be up and away this weekend!

You dah man Repent! +1

Like the idea. I've often wanted a test within the sim that you'd have to graduate before you could fly...in a career mode or something!
