  1. Do you mind uploading the .miz file?
  2. I think you have high expectations from weapon systems and maybe a lack of understanding how the game itself handles damage on targets. Also, it doesn't matter where the pipper is or how accurate a drop is compared to the real world. What matters is where the weapon goes. If it doesn't hit it doesn't hit...regardless of why. With ground targets in the game, there aren't different textures applied for various amounts of damage taken. A couple bomblets hit the target maybe...so how much damage is that? 5 points, 10, 80? You don't know. You could do 99 points of damage and not see any change on the tank below, but if you do 1 more then it will explode. This explanation might not be 100% accurate but it's close enough for the discussion at hand. Also, FABs work better because all the explosive force and all the kinetic force is concentrated into the target. The game doesn't recognize the difference between a shaped charge designed to punch a pinhole into a tank and kill the crew or a general purpose HE explosion. There are no mobility or weapon kills (as stated above) so the damage value given to a general purpose bomb is always greater than multiple bomblets in DCS. I never use cluster munitions on hard targets in DCS. If you do you'll find yourself disappointed every time :) EDIT: just remembered original question was on rockets and gun. Gun should be obvious, but rockets as I believe was already said require direct hits and lots of them. It looks like you're on target because of smoke, but if you could see the rockets without the smoke you'd see them all missing the target. Watch that video above and look closely at the s-8kom footage...which are much superior to the s-5.
  3. Great job. Thanks for these
  4. This might help illustrate some of the weapons for you. I made it before the Mig-21 was released, so not all weapons are shown, but you can get a feel for how most weapons need to be designed specifically for taking out heavily armored targets to do any damage...or get a direct kinetic kill.
  5. I'm sorry Ivo but I don't quite understand what you're asking. Are you asking why there's conversation but no screenshots? If so, the answer is I don't have any control over the thread.
  6. I made a post requesting this on the forum and site section that as far as I know has gotten 0 attention. We need dedicated screenshot threads from the developers that have comments locked out so we can actually see screenshots and not 40 pages of other stuff. If you have any power to bring this up or get some movement on setting something like that up it would be great Sithspawn. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=141816
  7. Yeah like I said, just my opinion on the switchology subject. I think that thread you're talking about concluded with someone at belsimtek saying something like, "We hear our customers concerns and are looking into how best to proceed." Something very non-commital like that...which is a shame because I read that as "we'll look into weather or not it's worth the effort to fix it." I only had a semester of aeronautical engineering, but I have flown multiple airframes and know that if you have laminar flow over a cambered surface you create lift. Right now it's very noticeable when you come in for a ground attack run you can jam on the rudder and don't get so much as a wiggle in the nose. It does happen closer to the transonic speed range, so maybe something's going on with the shock wave created by the canopy or something...and I'm always willing to learn...but it sure seems wrong to me.
  8. I would like to request a somewhat standardized way of handling screenshot threads from the official ED and 3rd party developers on the forums by making them sticky and locked from comments. Even when a developer makes a screenshot thread, it turns into 40 pages of great discussion with a few pictures spread throughout which makes it very difficult to actually find said screenshots. I think it would even help somewhat with drawing new people into the sim if you can send them a single link to see a lot of the visual goodies DCS has to offer. If each developer or large mod had a single official locked screenshot thread everyone would be able to see what they want to share with the community easier and then the community can makes threads to talk about whatever they want.
  9. Well, as a sabre fan, I could care less if one of the instruments is in the wrong place and don't want Belsimtek to waist time with that stuff. They really need to fix the rudder and canopy visibility issues and give us a manual. I'm not sure why you would want them spending so much time on switchology when there are so many variants anyway. Just my $0.02
  10. Awesome! This type of content has been sorely overlooked by other developers. Great job...really impressed and looking forward to what's to come. ~
  11. EE.
  12. I guess I'm just a moron.
  13. Airspeeds for landing will vary based on how heavy the jet is. I'd recommend flying 8 deg AoA and using a power push of around 10% instead of flaring to arrest descent. No crunched gear or tail strikes. Full fuel and stores hanging you'll probably be around 340 and empty around 300 or so. AoA is right in front of your face for a reason XD
  14. Thanks, looking forward to trying this out
  15. A little off topic, but can someone provide a link or explanation on how to get a JTAC or AFAC to work properly when targets are activated late via triggers? I'm not finding anything via search etc. I simply want an AFAC overhead that I can check in with, and will assign targets as they are spawned into the mission environment over a period of time. For whatever reason I can't get it to work. LOS isn't an issue, but the enroute fac doesn't work. I've used task assign group in conjunction with triggers...doesn't work. It seems I've tried everything with no success. Oh, and I'm familiar with the priority of tasks over enroute tasks and all that's explained in the manual. Something's not clicking for me though...
  16. Ah ok, thanks Druid. I guess I can now use my free time to fix the head-shaped hole in my wall. They should take those options away from it in ME. My sanity would definitely appreciate it :)
  17. Does this work for AFAC as well? I can't get my predator to laze or sparkle. He is within range to do both for his entire orbit.
  18. It wasn't meant as an insult to anyone here although I see that it could be taken like that, so my apologies if that's the case. More of a jab at the school system (in the US anyway). But since you brought up fools, it is actually foolish to ask for something to cost more when it only hurts everyone involved. I don't disagree, but that reality isn't limited to the sim business. I'm just trying to expose those that are actively seeking for a price increase in hopes of helping the company to the reality that it isn't a help at all. And what do I know? I'm not a part of any of these companies nor do I have access to their business strategies or balance sheets lol. But if it doesn't follow these general rules it's different than 99% of business. With that, I'll stop adding to the derailing of the thread :)
  19. I've never understood these price threads where people ask for it to cost more. Do they not teach basic economics in school anymore? ...wait that's a dumb question...nothing is taught in school anymore. If they charged $100 for it, they would fail miserably as a company. Numbers of sales at a competitive price range is what makes business successful...not ridiculous prices with fewer sales. So why would you ask for it to cost more if it doesn't actually help the company? Only thing I can think of is some sort of pride of ownership. Bob says, "Man, check out this module I paid $100 bucks for! Isn't it awesome?!" To which Fred responds, "Uh, that's great Bob. I'll just hop in this other module that cost me $15 and fly right next to you in the same sim."
  20. So is it confirmed that getting an AI jtac/afac to use an IR Pointer as the type of designation is broken? I can't get it to work. If so, has this been reported to ED?
  21. Lol, did I hire a publicist without knowing it?
  22. Sup brah :) Something important was moderated out of my post I see, so I'm going to repeat myself in a slightly different way as it's important for the health and welfare of the simming community here and teaching those that are having problems with certain things. - Try not to let the naysayers get you down. - It's not a crime to not know something. - Be wary of grandiose claims of inside knowledge. - Talking to people that do something and actually doing it yourself are completely different things. I hope that was general enough in nature as to not break any forum rules... My opinion is that you're better off if you avoid curves but depending on your joystick it may be unavoidable. If you have a linear progression you will be better off over a wide range of platforms as opposed to having different curves for everything. I don't see anything wrong with using a set curve pattern on every jet though to avoid a mechanical deficiency on your joystick though. Because of the limited throw as compared to a real stick it's never going to feel authentic. You'll always have much better fidelity with the real deal, so basically, do what you want. I would highly recommend keeping it as consistent as possible though. Washing the box is basically what harm said already. There's a dead space around the central position of the stick. Moving the stick in a circular motion within this area helps some people because you get a sense of where the boundaries are on the dead zone and more importantly it helps keep the brain from fixating. Just be careful to not overdo it. Anyone observing from the outside shouldn't be able to see the jet doing anything...it should look like you're smooth as butter.
  23. As to the OP, don't get frustrated man. With practice it will eventually click for you. There are things that make it more difficult in a game environment than real life and vice versa so don't fret. In general find a visual reference for your position, fly formation at that point, keep your eyes moving to different spots on the tanker, trim, and relax. For more techniques you can look through the interwebs and on the forums here, but realize that anyone can claim themselves an expert and give bad advice, so refer back to just practicing for yourself. Two things you can consider are pausing your track IR and a technique called "wash the box." Helps a lot of people. Good luck ~ Oh, forgot to mention I would definitely stay off the rudder pedals when doing AR.
