  1. I have been limiting my VR FPS to 45 using Afterburner prior to it being a feature in-game. However, I'm finding that using the in-game setting now only seems to work if, once loaded into the aircraft, I then hit Escape and open the options menu at the system page. As soon as the page opens, the FPS come down from around 60 (or whatever) to the 45 limit I've set. Does anyone else see this behaviour?
  2. Thanks for that. All good and running
  3. Hi-ho everyone! Ive been away from simming for a year or so. Now I’m back and can’t wait to get stuck in again and would be grateful for an update regarding VR I have always flown DCS in VR with my Reverb G2. Latterly, I was using the openXR thingy. I’m running Win10 and have just done a full DCS install including OpenXr in Windows. I used to limit my FPS to 45 in Afterburner which gave me a smooth experience. Is there anything else I need to know? Do I need to run anything in the background? Anything changed in DCS that I need to know about? thank you! CFI (Luke)
  4. Further, my system is now running really well with MT. Using Riva Tuner to lock VR FPS to 45 is giving me a silky smooth stutter free VR experience with very high settings. Even with my 3090, it still leaves 15-20% GPU headroom and around 50% CPU headroom. I am, after many years of waiting and tweaking, a very happy camper!
  5. Well, the system instability was all down to running a Gen 3 PCIe riser between a Gen 4 slot and card. It only took me a week of misery to discover that!
  6. Yay! I finally got around to spending lots of money that I don't really have in the form of an upgrade from my old i9 9900K to a shiny new 13900KS on an Asus Strix Gaming-E. However... whereas I could run MT on the old setup, the new setup just freezes on commencement of mission loading. I've tried all of the usual stuff like clearing stuff out and repairing and verifying via DCS_update but so far, no luck. Full disclosure - I am suffering from an issue that causes random complete crashes on the new system and I'm yet to get fully to the bottom of the problem. I don't think this is related to the DCS problem though, as the crashes even happen occasionally at desktop during idle. Has anyone else got MT working in DCS on a 13900 CPU?
  7. I ordered a VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Base 6 weeks ago and was told that shipping would be between 3-5 weeks. Every time I contact their sales/support, they increase the shipping time and tell me that my order will ship "next week". Needless to say, I still haven't got the item or received any shipping notification. However, I was charged a hefty 440 Euros at the time of ordering and am disappointed by such a long delay after I've given them my money! I don't want to knock them too hard as I appreciate that the logistics can be difficult but I do feel that I was given a slightly fanciful estimate of lead time when I made my sales enquiry. At least, the option to be charged when the item ships would be welcome. Is my experience typical? CFI
  8. Interesting info, thanks all. I expect then that the 'meat' of the mission lies within the mysterious .pak.crypt file? Am I right in also assuming that the tools to package a mission like this are not something that's included in the vanilla ME?
  9. Hi, I have just purchased a copy of the "Crew" campaighn for the Mi8 in the hope that I might learn a few things about more complex mission building by deconstructing it a little. I have found though that when opened in the ME, there appear to be no triggers or scripts referenced directly from the ME. I gather then that the triggers and other actions must be getting handled externally from what I can see and edit in the ME? The only clue I can see is that within the campaign files that downloaded, there is a .pak.crypt file, which I can't open to look at. Can anyone shed any light on how these missions work? CFI
  10. @toutenglisse Thanks very much I think I even understand how works!
  11. Hi, I want a condition to be true at a random time between 1 - 4 minutes. I can't find a straight forward way of doing this! I've tried cycling a randomised flag until the flag value hits a certain value, but it's so hit and miss and I want to be able to stipulate the time range more exactly. Can anyone help?! Many thanks
  12. I'm just nearing the end of creating my first (interesting) mission and I'd like to share it when I'm done. However, I had to use several mods to add various objects into the simulator needed to tell the story... Is there any way of integrating mods, such as additional props and vehicles, into the .miz file, so that other users don't have to download and install them? I'm a bit concerned that creating a mission where the user has to download and install 4 additional mods, will put people off trying it out!
  13. That's a pretty epic beta patch today - thanks!
  14. What an odd response! So, where else would you be expecting to use ACLS? The clue is in the name (Automatic Carrier Landing System). If you don't already use the carrier, then you're unlikely to want to use ACLS. If you DO have the carrier, then you'll be getting this for your F18 for free. What's with your attitude?!
  15. They are cool but they don't move correctly according to forces on the helicopter, which is a shame!
  16. Hi Moxica. You're not likely to hear much from onboard the helo but try doing a quick track and watching it back from the perspective of the unit you've targeted. That'll confirm it one way or another, plus, it's fun Oh yes, that is.... if the track actually works properly, which is unlikely at the moment
  17. Ok. Tried it again last night and all seems to be working as I expected. Not sure what I was missing but thanks for the help
  18. I guess that people's interpretation of "buttery smooth" is somewhat subjective! I agree with you though. I can get a solid 50-60fps without MR and it's pretty smooth looking forward with the occasional stutter but nothing like buttery smooth. With MR on and set to 45fps in OC toolkit, it really is buttery smooth looking in all directions but as we know, the current artefacts are terrible and the image quality is quite poor.
  19. I'm getting a constant switch back to the TSD page on the right MPD with everything turned off!
  20. You also have to disable TSD-SHOW-THRT SHOW-ASE THREATS - I'm sure I have been doing that too but I'll double check... when you select TADS video, do you also select TADS at T6? Because for me it autopages the other MPD, not video feed - I usually select video on the right MPD, then TADS for the feed, then TADS at T6. Is that the correct way? Thanks
  21. Autopaging is driving me nuts. When viewing TADS video from the Pilot seat, autopaging continuously swaps the page for the TSD when there is any radar activity. Not very convenient when you're trying to fly at night and identify/confirm targets that George has found! I have Autopaging switched off in the ASE/Util option but it doesn't disable it. Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding its use?
  22. @NineLine Please would you move this to the Bugs & Problems sub forum? Thanks!
  23. Now it’s working again. Not doing anything different. Must be gremlins.
  24. See attached picture. Engine 1 wasn't out because I flew home on it, but showing 0.0% ng. Engine 2 certainly was out, also showing 0.0% NG, 0% torque (correctly) but also 110% Np and 562c TGT, incorrectly. Annunciator also showing both engines out. Confusing... Is it a bug?
  25. Hi All. I've just started using OXR for Reverb G2 instead of SVR. I can certainly see an improvement in visual clarity and overall performance. However, even with my average FPS at around 50-60 the motion has stutters, which are jarring to say the least. I'm not keen on using the OXR Motion Reprojection in its current iteration as the artefacts it generates kind of undo the visual benefits of using OXR in the first place. Of course, without MR in SVR there are stutters, but I don't mind using MR in SVR because it causes very little in the way of artefacts, in my case anyway. My technical understanding of how VR works is a bit limited but am I right in assuming that the stuttering is caused by timing mismatches, as the headset wants to run at either 90fps or 45fps, so anything other than that will cause a stutter to occur? If that's the case, then wouldn't limiting the FPS output to say 45fps cure the stuttering, in much the same way that VSync does with display panels? If so, is there a way of achieving this? There's no option to do this in the OXR Toolkit or OXR Developer tools, and limiting it through the Nvidia control panel has no effect. I love what OXR has already achieved and the potential it promises, but the stuttering is kinda making me gravitate back towards SVR for now. What's the general consensus?
