The throttle already has animation, and the stick in the real plane does hardly move at all. It is based on how much pressure you put on it rather than movement.
I meant the HOTAS switches - they don’t rotate or move. Regarding the joystick, I meant the trim switch and pickle button etc. Maybe I’ve been spoilt, as the F-4E was the first module I bought, and everything in the cockpit moves as expected.

Looks good! Maybe the glass could have a bit of dirt in the edges, a few scratches and be less clean?
I hope at some point ED add animations for the throttle and joystick.

Nice, thanks DP, I'll give that a try. I've just been watching Top Guns: The Next Generation and it inspired me to give mod this a try!

Hi all,
Has anybody had any luck landing on the carrier? I just tried the instant action in the Caucasus, chose one of the 'air' slots, but I can't seem to catch the wire. This has happened several times. I'm not sure if it's a bug, as I was on AoA at about 130 knots and the track shows that I should have caught it. I'm not sure if the carrier is a 'dummy' ship or something?

Hi,
please do not share NATOPS links here
check out our 1.16 rule at the top of the forum
thank you
Oh, my bad. If you're not a military aviator, it's easy to forget these things are classified!

Just installed this and it looks great! Does anybody have a PDF of the NATOPS so I can start this thing up? Google has loads of false links.

Is there any update on this? I've just seen a fantastic implementation on the Black Hawk mod.

Sounds like the Encoder acceleration option is set on full blast in SimApp
Tried it on 1, tried it on 5. Still an issue unfortunately. It’s a shame they’re not hall sensors like the two sliders.

This is actually a problem with how encoders work. Since they send individual presses and not continuous input, this results in weird behavior.
You'd think Winwing would have tested this. I wonder if it's something that could be fixed on a module level. For example, detecting different speeds of inputs would move the dial x10° / x50° / x100°
6 hours ago, Dragon1-1 said:My recommendation is to bind those encoders to radio channel knobs, not to heading and course. Rotating a control that moves in steps is a far better use of them.
That's a really solid suggestion actually. Thanks for that!

But did you have the problem then you bought it, and it is been better, or do you never have the problem?
I never have the problem. For me it was just a case of finding the right Allen key tension (using really small increments). Like I say, it needs the odd tighten every now and then (rarely), but on the whole I just don't think about it. I have the Strike Eagle and Viper grips, so different weights of handle and they're both fine. There's no way I would have started ripping the thing apart to make it smoother.
-
I think it might just need 'bedding in' with usage. I have two bases that are smooth as butter, although tbh I didn't really notice 'stiction' as such when I bought them. It took a while to find just the right amount of friction with the allen key though and it needed retightening over time. Give it time, it'll be fine.

Hi all,
I have a real issue with the speed that the heading and course bugs rotate on the Orion2 base, specifically in the F-4E. I end up having to spin it wildly to get it moving at a decent speed. Then it overshoots and I have to wait for it to finish before I can roll it back. I get so frustrated that I end up having to dial it in onscreen using the scroll wheel, which works fine. Is there a way to fix this or is this a firmware/Winwing support question? I have the speed dialled up to max (5) in SimApp Pro, but it needs to go higher.
Cheers,
Tim
P.S. Do Winwing monitor this forum?

Hi all,
I’ve just watched the @ralfidude landing video with a co-pilot (first officer?), but I’m just wondering: Is there a ‘Jester’ for solo players? I couldn’t see anything in the release marketing. I’m not clued up on the C-130, so I don’t know if it can be flown 'solo' or not.
Thanks in advance

This isn't the kind of plane I'd prefer to fly, but let's be honest: it seems really well made, with innovative features and the launch trailer is thrilling. Congratulations, great job!!!
Same here, although I’m tempted to buy it, just so I can get more mileage out of my Turtle Beach Velocity One yoke outside of the X-Plane Cessna!

That makes sense, but why on the Afghanistan map was I able to talk to the tanker on Jester's frequency, whilst still having COMM CMD in the front? I double checked and I was on a completely different frequency.

Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help me understand some issues I'm having with the radio.
I've been practicing the 'Landing in Clear Weather' mission from @Dallatorre's Phantom Proficiency tutorials. The mission requires me to tune into Kobuleti Approach on 262mhz. I ask Jester to do this for me, then contact Approach, but I get no response. I realise I have to give Jester COMM CMD to use the frequency he's tuned, which makes sense, but why didn't he take comms control when tuning the frequency? Is this something that would be set in the mission itself somehow or is this a procedural 'bug' in the module?
Then in free flight in Afghanistan, I ask Jester to tune to the KC-135 Tanker on 251mhz, which he does, but now, I CAN contact the tanker for refuel whilst having COMM CMD on a different frequency (I assume, as it's on preset).
So basically it seems there's no consistency in how to use the radio correctly. Is there something I'm missing here?
--
And final question: I get automatically handed off the the Tower frequency in the landing mission without Jester or myself tuning into 133mhz. Is this just a DCS thing for easier gameplay?
Cheers all,

I can not for the life of me follow Reflected's By the Book landing techniques....but at the final the F-4 does not suddenly lose lift as before.
Had this exact problem. Looking forward to testing it out at the weekend!

the F-4 feels a lot more docile and precise now when taking off and landing, and while doing landing circuits
Can't wait to try this at the weekend. I've been practicing the standard landing pattern and either been dropping out of the sky on final or gain too much altitude and need to go around. (a straight in landing with flare seems to be ok though) Obviously mainly a skill issue, but hopefully this will help!

If I hadn't got the F-14 and F-16 lined up behind the F-4, I'd be all over this. Loved the MiG-29 as a kid

Well whadda ya know. You can click anywhere in the centre! I guess the little notch the BACK text sits in made me think that was the hit box.
16 minutes ago, Zabuzard said:Worth noting that you can adjust the sensitivity in the special settings (max angle).
Oh, I'll have to try that out. It does tend to fly around quite a lot.
Cheers!-

Hi HB,
I'm really loving the head tracking control of the Jester menu. Unfortunately, the back button is so small in the wheel, it's difficult to get my head to stay on it long enough to click it with the Jester context on my throttle. Then I have to either flip to my mouse or keyboard, halting the flow and slowing things up. What about tweaking it so the whole centre is the back button, something like this?:
Hopefully you'll consider it, as it would improve usability massively imo.
Many thanks,
Tim

I don’t know why you wouldn’t put them in. They’d be a focus, surely? In the same way that Ugra put all that detail into all the cities in the Germany map, you could do the same for all the sand sculpted pillars and mountains. I doubt polycount would be an issue.

I was just thinking this today. I'd definitely love some mod patches and other DCS merch.
