  1. Good considerations doveman. I agree with the need to define separate viewports for separate screens and with the opinion that it wouldn't be of interest or benefit to most users. I don't however share the fear of precious development time being wasted on such a feature which should really be quite trivial. search google images for simulator dome display
  2. Of all the configurations I can think of 90% would be impossible with just 1 PC. Simulators generally run with guaranteed 60fps, and what if I want more than 4 screens? No matter how much power you put in a single PC, performance will be better with multiple image generators. Full surround display solutions with adequate angular resolution are only possible with multiple image generators; for instance the simulator I work on uses 32 IG PCs for the Out of The Window display. The simple fact that Eagle Dynamics often refers to EDGE as an Image Generator (a term I have only encountered in the professional simulation world) suggests that this functionality has already been considered. I was wondering if any official word had come out on the subject.
  3. To get around the performance degradation of running multi-screen setups with huge resolutions on a single machine it should be possible to run instances of DCS on extra computers in a LAN to be used solely as image generators. This is what is normally done on "high-end" flight simulators. Has a similar possibility ever been addressed by Eagle Dynamics?
  4. What altimeter setting does AI use?
  5. I think that a big part of knowing how to maneuver in a dogfight is knowing where to look based on how you're maneuvering. Padlock completely removes that aspect. To me padlock is cheating.
  6. Here is a screeshot of what it looks like. I found the texture in Bazar\Terrain\Surface\High\LandTexturesSumBMP.cdds and am able to replace it with Modman so scrap what I said about it being for 1.02. The texture is called "1_35.bmp". What I wonder now since I've never tried modding before is if all the terrain has specific textures such as this one or if only certain areas do. If the second is true I think a mod such as this one can only be done for areas that have specific textures but again, I'm totally n00b so I don't know. Do the names of the textures (e.g. 1_35.bmp) have a meaning in regards to their positioning in the world? How would one go about finding the texture for a specific area?
  7. I once had this mod that I attach, but I'm pretty sure it was for 1.02 even though the readme doesn't say so. It's a replacement texture for a specific area that adds a bombing range. How would one go about making something similar for Flaming Cliffs? [799]Bomb_Range.zip
  8. Very nice, I like this new skin
  9. I agree, it's time to make it successful and let us use those radios for real :phone:
  10. I just downloaded http://virtuozb.free.fr/download/Tacview090.zip from http://lomac.strasoftware.com/lomac-acmi-en.php but there are no lua files... and I therefore can't record anything. What's up with that?? can any1 link me to the lua files or to an older zip containing them? thanks! edit: just found Tacview 0.82 which has the lua files
  11. should the GULODs and Stutter fixes come in anywhere along this installation?
