  1. I've just finished Zone 5, and once again it's a very well-made campaign that immerses us in the cockpit with real-world situations. I'm glad I played Speed and Angels first as I think I would have been a bit lost without the RAG training from that campaign - it's a shame we don't get access to the actual Top Gun lectures, but I guess we'd need to be real USN pilots for that! This campaign is obviously all about air-to-air, and the procedural parts of range entry etc. become very familiar over the course of the missions, so it does not have as much variety of tasks as S&A. I enjoyed the challenges, and the ramping of difficulty makes sense. I didn't experience any bugs with the campaign, and even DCS AI behaved as far as I remember - it's never going to be like humans, but Reflected has done a good job in coralling the AI to perform sensibly in the contexts. Overall, a solid 9.5/10 from me - loses just a little bit to S&A for variety. Thanks Reflected, thanks Bio, and thanks to all the testers and voice-actors
  2. Ah, that's a shame. I thought the track relays were a bit more reliable now. What they do for me is pull up into a hover at maybe 10 feet, then after a while they pitch forward but cannot maintain the height, so they bounce off the ground, pull nose up, then pitch forward again and either crash into done obstacle or just slam into the ground and explode. I wonder if the difference is frame rate related.
  3. It's like they never went through basic training or something! This is on the built-in mission 'AH-64D Scud Busters'. The AI don't seem to be able to work out how to take-off from the parking spots without crashing. AI Apaches.trk
  4. Hi Reflected, Paco, and all the voice actors and everyone else involved, Just wanted to say a huge congratulations on an amazing job with this campaign. It's been a real test, teaching me to fly the Tomcat way beyond where I was before. It's also genuinely funny, sweet and engaging, and it made me feel like I was really getting to know the crews and personalities. Watching the credits at the end I was amazed at how many genuine air-crew lent their voices to this campaign, and I want to again say a huge thank you to all of them for being part of it, and for allowing us a bit of a glimpse into this part of their lives. I really, really hope you can persuade them to get the band back together for another campaign in the future - there must be more Tomcat stories to tell still!
  5. Looks like a very good improvement!
  6. Just finished, excellent work as always from Baltic Dragon
  7. I'm flying it at the moment, I've got to M13. There's a bit of oddness with the radios in one of the early missions, but other than that it's pretty solid. It's definitely a good campaign, and it will improve your skills with the M-2000C. Having said that on M13 the AI failed to complete its task which makes my task undoable. Maybe a second run through will sort that out.
  8. Ah, I see the problem. I'm fortunate enough to have a pair of axes that I can dedicate to control of the sight whilst the joystick remains in control of the cyclic.
  9. Are people talking about using the HOT missiles without auto-hover? I was doing that yesterday, it seemed easy so long as I trimmed the gazelle properly for hover.
  10. It would be great if there was a simple command we could give to our AI wingman to sort targets in an air-to-air engagement. At the moment I have no idea what we're all shooting at, but if I could give a 'sort' command and know that, e.g. we were going to take the group lead is looking at in range order (lead takes closest, wingman takes next, #3 takes next, etc.), that would be great.
  11. Mission accomplished there then! Thanks for the hints, I hope to be back later reporting success...
  12. This mission is kicking my arse! What's the best strategy here? Any ideas?
  13. I just had a go at this today, it's a good little challenge to sharpen your skills in a short time, thank you cfrag! I was just about to get my fifth landing in when I somehow broke my Huey - must have pulled the collective too hard!
  14. I just dropped, having eventually found the right heading and distance, but my bomb fall time was longer than the scripting allowed, so I got told off for dropping without clearance!
  15. Sorry, I used a slightly confusing phrasing there! I meant it as a compliment - in some other campaigns I have found there's sometimes one or two voiceovers that just don't sound right, or don't sound like they belong with the other voiceovers in that mission. In your campaign all the voiceovers sounded good, and like they were part of the same situation, so I was complimenting the consistency of the acting and production.
  16. I just finished the campaign last night and thought I would drop a note here to say thanks for enjoyable experience and well-made campaign. - Good voiceovers, I can't think of any that didn't feel right at all - Interesting setup and variety of tasks. Operating out of the highway strip was definitely a fun challenge. - I think it's the only commercial JF-17 campaign still, so I really appreciated having more of a reason to fly the jet. - There were a couple of times when I was not sure what was being asked of me, so maybe some of the instructions could be clearer. On the other hand I got it all figured out, so it can't have been too bad! - I don't recall encountering any bugs, big thumbs up there! - I hope to see another JF-17 campaign from you in the future, possibly using some of the more specialized weapons
  17. I bought this yesterday and this morning for setting the islands in crappy spring weather in the Apache, that felt pretty cool to me. Then I took a jf-17 from the islands to the mainland and got all excited about the possibilities for long range over water strikes. I'm happy with the purchase
  18. Outstanding, I'll fly that mission again soon. Thanks Sedlo
  19. I've also just finished, and I echo what others are saying. Really nice campaign, mission length is perfect and scenarios are all plausible. The only issue I had was some scripting or unit erros in M09, but that didn't detract from the enjoyment. Thanks Sedlo
  20. Do you mean when you move your head around the PNVS lags? If so, that is accurate, the PNVS can traverse 60° per second or something like that, so if you whip your head around it won't be able to keep up. I'm sure an extension makes it easier, but it is definitely possible without. I have a Gladiator NXT, no extension, and hovering is ok. It took a few hours to develop the right feel for it, and I was ok with the other helos already, so if this is someone's first time it will probably take a chunk more time to get to some levels of competence.
  21. I get the impression that when George stores targets that should create points in the TSD, but I can't see them in my coord list anywhere. Am I misunderstanding, or am I looking in the wrong place? BTW, loving the Apache!
  22. I'm loving the campaign, but is the AT-6 supposed to look like this?
