  1. Can we get bigger images of those embedded in the OP? The Marianas screenshot seems great, but i wouldn't know because i can barely see it!
  2. My tracks tend to be very unreliable, but i can talk you through my procedure. First of all, i now manage to fly "safely", but i wouldn't dare landing or even doing anything more than 30° bank angle. My procedure/setup: 2*Sidewinder (wingtip), 2*GBU-16 (inner wing), (outer underwing stations empty), Big droptank (belly station), ~70% internal fuel before dropping first bomb When flying don't drain the external belly tank (i feel the weight helps a bit and after you dropped both bombs you can quickly transfer all the fuel to your internal tanks). After dropping the first bomb immediately put in aileron trim as needed (and you'll need a lot) and rudder trim to 90-100%. Keep airspeed under 400 (drag) and over 300. You should be able to get the aircraft to fly straight without much further input. Now keep an eye on airspeed and watch your sideslip indicator. Changes to speed, AOA, bank angle will upset the aircraft a bit, but you can counter that with rudder. Keep bank angle below 30 and make smooth inputs. *** Next time i want to try draining the internal fuel asymmetrically. Do you know how i would do that? One Booster pump off and crossfeed on? ps: I pity those who think FBW aircraft are cool. pps: I had flaps on auto, but i think it might be worth experimenting with one of the other settings to minimize changes in configuration from auto flap system...
  3. I don't have easy access to human components for the backseat. And i doubt many people would be interested considering the type of missions i tend to fly (which would result in long stretches of downtime for the backseat)... Anyway... this is veering off-topic... THUD! THUD! THUD!
  4. Answer to myself: Good footwork and a lot of rudder trim!
  5. For me only the D would be interesting. HB Jester is decent, but doesn't really cut it for me. Maybe in the future we can get fully dynamic LLM powered WSO/RIO. That might change my opinion about 105F/G...
  6. I think the F-105 might be the most interesting single-seater aircraft imaginable in the context of DCS: Very analogue, but very complex! Most other western aircraft that are similar in that regard are two-seaters, which i don't find ideal for the game...
  7. I flew the F-5 in the newly added fog. Now i want an ILS.... or alternatively PAR as a core improvement for DCS...
  8. That little tip made flying so much more enjoyable for me. thanks again @razo+r I don't even bother with saving the view, i just use the commands to slightly move forward my view whenever i enter the cockpit (for me it was RShift+RCtrl+*). Pausing TrackIR is not even needed. So much better than fiddling with TrackIR calibration to get a different seating position. For moving up and down i of course simply use the motorized seat-adjustment that most modern aircraft have.
  9. A little bit of exaggeration in the topic, but i do indeed wonder how to "safely" use the GBU-16 from the inner wing stations. Both in DCS and in reality... The wing station GBU-16 add a lot of firepower to the little aircraft, but the loadout seems rather impractical to me... Can you effectively trim the F-5 to fly safely and reliably with the high asymmetric loading after dropping only a single one? Dropping GBU-16 in pairs seems overkill in DCS since you will most likely only have a single laser spot both bombs will home in on. How do you get the maximum bang for your buck when lugging around two times 1000 pounds of LGBs? Get good at trimming? Simply drop in pairs? Use outer wing station counter-weights (mk82) for balance? Does a full external belly tank help with stability? Any tips on how to get two different laser spots on two close targets when flying without human AFACs? Thanks!
  10. Gute Idee. Mit Joystick geht's. Danke. Ist schonmal ein brauchbarer Workaround, bis ich das Problem vollends gelöst habe... Danke für den Tipp. Werde ich mal testen. Ich starte DCS tatsächlich immer mit Admin-Rechten...
  11. alright. thanks for the info!
  12. I think the argument was mostly for cutting the Rhein/Ruhr high population areas, because they would not offer too much compared to their high tax on development time and possibly map performance. I wouldn't call Ramstein nor Spangdahlem the "deep" west (even though they're technically on a similar longitude)... The map could easily feature Ramstein, Spangdahlem, Bitburg, but omit Rhein/Ruhr...
  13. Hello, does anyone know if the F-5 could carry four or five M117 on MER under her belly? I think M117 could generally be racked, but i could not find anything about the F-5.
  14. Great. Thanks! I assume i'll find the keys needed for the lateral movement in the UI/Camera layer in the DCS controls?! Is this new position saved forever, or only for that flight/session? If it's saved forever, how could i reset it to default? I assume there's a config file somewhere?
  15. For me the F-5 feels more "zoomed out" than other cockpits. Does the F5 use different FOV settings? Could it be that i accidentally changed the default FOV through keypresses without realizing it? If so, how could i reset it? Bonus question: I'm using TrackIR. Can i use key commands to move my virtual head laterally to the front to be a tiny bit closer to the Instrument panel?
  16. *bump* It's very frustrating and not in line with any other module i own. For people who don't want to use the zoom function it really limits the enjoyment of the module. I do appreciate the "realism", but please make it optional!
Danke!
  18. Yes, why not both?!! I think an overlay could be a good addition, but of course it should not be an excuse for ED to ignore the need for better visibility of the director lights on the actual tanker...
  19. I'm pretty sure that the display would just have the raw feed directly from the maverick. On photos mavs are always carried on the outer wing pylons...
  20. They surely are. Even if they were substantially less affected than unaided human vision (i assume that some sensors can see through clouds to some extend, depending on sampled wavelength), on most IR SAM platforms the operator would still need to find the target before locking the missile. The radar of SA-13 "Gopher" for example is only for ranging. The operator still needs to acquire the target visually. @BIGNEWY Thanks for the reply. That's good to know i guess. I assume that sight blocking for Ai aircraft is tied to an deeper AI overhaul, but perhaps sight blocking for AAA and SAM had less dependencies and could be implemented quicker.
  21. I used the search function, but for some reason, there hasn't been a wishlist post about it already. Clouds need to impair or block AIs vision and sensors (where applicable) Clouds need to impair or block IR missile sensors (to a realistic extend) This is of course extremely important for dogfighting, but it's equally so when dealing with IR SAMs. Currently IR SAMs are "incompatible" with low visibility A-G missions, because they can just snipe aircraft through thick clouds, giving the pilot no chance to react. This is in dire need for improvements. It should be high on ED's priority list imho.
  22. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, can anyone tell me if there are differences between full fidelity and Faming Cliffs versions of aircrafts when used as AI assets? Do they have different configs? Different memory footprints? Are they essentially identical when not player controlled? Thanks!
  23. As long as they're not 32bit/channel...
