Clouds need to block AI vision / sensors
Fitzcarraldo replied to Fitzcarraldo's topic in DCS Core Wish List
They surely are. Even if they were substantially less affected than unaided human vision (i assume that some sensors can see through clouds to some extend, depending on sampled wavelength), on most IR SAM platforms the operator would still need to find the target before locking the missile. The radar of SA-13 "Gopher" for example is only for ranging. The operator still needs to acquire the target visually. @BIGNEWY Thanks for the reply. That's good to know i guess. I assume that sight blocking for Ai aircraft is tied to an deeper AI overhaul, but perhaps sight blocking for AAA and SAM had less dependencies and could be implemented quicker. -
I used the search function, but for some reason, there hasn't been a wishlist post about it already. Clouds need to impair or block AIs vision and sensors (where applicable) Clouds need to impair or block IR missile sensors (to a realistic extend) This is of course extremely important for dogfighting, but it's equally so when dealing with IR SAMs. Currently IR SAMs are "incompatible" with low visibility A-G missions, because they can just snipe aircraft through thick clouds, giving the pilot no chance to react. This is in dire need for improvements. It should be high on ED's priority list imho.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, can anyone tell me if there are differences between full fidelity and Faming Cliffs versions of aircrafts when used as AI assets? Do they have different configs? Different memory footprints? Are they essentially identical when not player controlled? Thanks!

Is the texture resolution increased by 400%?
Fitzcarraldo replied to LucShep's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
As long as they're not 32bit/channel... -
@MAXsenna thanks for the heads-up! Regarding upgraded capabilities for the F-5, a countermeasure pod would add a lot value in the context of the game. Due to a lack of early generation IR SAMs the F-5 can quickly run out of flares in a typical DCS mission. Is there a counter-measure pod that was tested/approved on/for the F-5?

This would be great and comparably easy to implement. The question is, if the GPS/INS combined systems in modern modules are simulated to an extend that they can natively function with "bad" or temporarily missing GPS data. One would hope that module makers anticipated basic EW when simulating those systems. *bump* and +1 for GPS spoofing / jamming from me! It would give so much depth for 4th gen modules by forcing players to engage more with the INS component of their combined nav systems...

Nevermind. Found this photo of Alconbury Aggressors on wikipedia. -
Official liveries for CW Germany neighboring countries
Fitzcarraldo replied to twistking's topic in Wish List
Do you have pictures of the US Aggressors at Alconbury? Aggressor liveries are always interestingly looking... Would be cool to have some Alconbury Aggressor liveries with the "fake" aggressor markings overpainted to be pressed into frontline duty over CW Germany... -
Ja bitte!

What capabilities should we expect from the F-104?
Fitzcarraldo replied to Hatman335's topic in DCS: F-104
I'd be happy with anything that can Fox 1. -
Hot take: If DCS was in a better technical state with less bugs and more features, if ED would be better at addressing customers concerns and do it faster, if EA wouldn't mean waiting many years for critical updates, then -i believe- people wouldn't be so emotional about the F-35. I have no interest in that flying ipad, but i'm confident that it won't ruin DCS more than years of unaddressed bugs and heaps of technical debt ever could. Be concerned about that! Make your voice heard, and demand that ED delivers on core features, bug fixes and performances optimization before they release another EA module. Then enjoy your module of choice and ignore the 35. Those with a less refined taste will buy it and hopefully have fun as well. ED gets sales. Everybody wins.

Easier way to reset SNAPVIEWS settings
Fitzcarraldo replied to Lixma 06's topic in DCS Core Wish List
i would like a simple UI to edit and manage (including resetting) snapviews. i think currently it not very user-friendly in general... -
Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?

Seems stupid. I love it! -

How would the R-27P be used in combat? What are the intended targets? -
Official liveries for CW Germany neighboring countries
Fitzcarraldo replied to twistking's topic in Wish List
Not sure, but there were definitely more than we have now with the remaster. Norway would also fit the Kola map, so it would be a good addition. Dutch F-5s are more important though imho. They are absolutely needed over CW Germany... -
Dcs should become more keyboard and mouse friendly
Fitzcarraldo replied to mrbluegame's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I don't have pedals, so for braking i use buttons on my hotas. It would be helpful if i could configure how rapidly a button press would increase the virtual force on the brakes (i would prefer the pressure to built a bit slower f.e.). I think such options could be universal for all controls and would also benefit players who use keyboard+mouse exclusively... Similar options would also be helpful for things like mini-sticks (target designator on modern jets) mapped on a digital four-way hat. -
I would prefer having simple crew without animations over waiting for the perfect high fidelity solution to arrive in 10 years. I do enjoy the visual detail of newer AI assets but in the end all those little details on ground units don't matter for anything but cool promotional videos and screenshots. The complete absence of crew on the other hand is a real problem for gameplay and immersion. The old ZSU-23mm is very ugly up close, but in practice it's a much better asset than the newer AAA options, because from the air and/or when viewed through a TGP the quality is "good enough" while it also has visible crew.

Is the texture resolution increased by 400%?
Fitzcarraldo replied to LucShep's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Exactly this. Medium textures look very bad, while high textures are overkill. There needs to be a well-made, balanced and optimized option in between... I think that medium textures are not done with artistic oversight, but just quarter (or half) sized versions of high textures. For some textures that's ok, for some it's not enough and looks terrible... -
Could you position the antenna in a way so that the ground returns could be used for navigation or ground avoidance in low visibility conditions?
-
Apart from shrapnel, there would also be the need to simulate penetration warheads like bunker busters... i think currently bunkers and shelters have hitpoints that can be chipped away with HE or any other weapon...

System failures for "client" aircraft in multiplayer.

i agree. should be easy to implement as well. it works in singleplayer already... -
+1 it's very difficult to to AAR at night. more difficult than it should be. aircraft external lighting is not very good in general. hoping for improvments in 2025...

I would be happy already with 9K32M Strela-2M / SA-7B and FIM-43 Redeye
