Im using resolution in my Quest about 6,3x2,8K in total so its quite high, in lower resolution could be better even. I know that lowering resolution too mutch can even cause a certain type of cheating (it happens that some people lower the resolution a lot to have better results in online dogfights). For me it's stupidity.

I’ll check but tomorrow.

I don't think the LOD of the model between 1-3 and 5 miles has changed at all. It was always the same (before, before after and after). What has changed recently is the replacement of the "big box dot" with a normal but bigger size than in old system. It was on this post: This is example of improved dot v2, ground target: The screen is from VR, I can see targets on the ground from 10Km (desert), it's confirmed by a laser marker. I think it works great and the dot is perfect now (even too good ).

solved DCS Crashing on VR startup (META QUEST UPDATE)
YoYo replied to cacatuapunk's topic in Game Crash
What kind of goggles? -
So let's establish one thing, you are not looking for reality, you are not reading what is written, you are just repeating that you prefer a big dot from v1 right? You also don't want to help yourself. Give me the track with the flight and your DCS settings. The maximum range I see for me is 12.6 miles, so it's not 1 mile.

Please, stop trolling this topic about realism. How on earth is it not realistic. Did you bother to read the publication with the analysis of pilot visibility, which I posted a few posts above, since you're talking about reality? I understand that someone can have different settings, use DLSS, DLAA and complain that they have less fun, but the accusation that it's not realistic as it is is completely pointless. Yes, it's clear that it's too far away. Generally there is nothing to complain about (the benchmark can only be setting with MSAA or without AA). It is much better than Improved spotting v1 (I will call it version 2 now) and better than the old system. If it requires tweak it is definitely worth it, but not in the same way as it was in improved v1.

Max temperature too low; real weather impossible
YoYo replied to Nealius's topic in Bugs and Problems
The same problem is with min temp, 16C in January, in the real it is even -12C (sea level). (edit: it depends from the preset) -
I noticed that no many bridges on current part of the map (finished?), we have a road on the both side, small river between but no bridge, it stops the traffiic, pls fix it.

I recommend that familiarize yourself with the analysis regarding detection: https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/tr/pdf/ADA241347.pdf

In current system its a lot easier to find someting in the air or on the ground, than vs this old system (so "improved spotting v2"). The first relese of "improved spotting v1" was a joke. For VR I also advise to use OpenXR Toolkit with sharpness option enabled, helps a lot, also experiments with contrast can make blacks appear clearer. Also dont use DLSS or DLAA (this is not a benchmark for target spotting). Recently I saw statistics and analysis of air combat from WWII, on the Western Front, how surprised I was to see that the average distance of a fighter's sighting by a fighter was 1.5 nm! Meanwhile in DCS I see targets at 7+ miles and more.

That's exactly what I had, there was no option to switch, I just had to accept the v68 installation, there was no other option.

We have the solution already here few posts above, the same but with newest files (v67), here is v63 what I see, 4 months earlier. Solution:

Interesting only, that after this Meta Link App shows still v68 (even after PC restart), so maybe it prevents download v68 again till to v69 ?
-
Splendid!
-
This! Now I see effect directly in goggles, without any button confirmation, thx @TFS.
-
Good news - yes, OXR Toolkit starts (and DCS MT) again, no issue. Maybe it won't want to update to v69 ;). Thanks a lot!

Meta acknowledges bug with OpenXR API layers in v68
YoYo replied to mbucchia's topic in Virtual Reality
Great, thanks a lot! -
Ok, that's nice, but is there any way I can disable the update so that it doesn't download v68 again?
-
So far I installed Reshade 6, I can confirm it works with DCS MT (standalone) + OXR. But it's not even half as good as OXR Toolkit.
-
It works for me, short test. Of course it's worse than with OpenXR Toolkit, the settings are only for 2D, there's nothing in VR but it works (also not so good like OXR Toolkit). You can do settings on 2D only, you will see effect on 2D VR picture but NOT on the picture in goggles but this button brings me settings to VR, so for example here I see white saturation on 2D VR window and in VR too.

Downloaded, Im installing now, we'll see. I install also this:

Hi, unfortunately OpenXR Toolkit stopped working for me today due to Meta v.68 . What are your impressions of Reshade now? Apparently it supports OpenXR. I need sharpness option + some saturation. Are there any problems with Reshade + OXR in DCS MT (no SteamVR)?
-
Did you buy new wifi router on this occasion? If yes, which one? Btw. I can be on the same time on cable but for charging?
-
Supposedly Reshade currently works with OXR, but I've only used OXR Toolkit, which was a lot nicer and better for me (when I was using Reshade some time ago it only worked on OpenVR).
