  1. I’m really hoping this gets fixed in 2.5.6. Been practicing night refueling and came here to ask where the probe light switch is. Combined with RAZBAM’s C-130 not turning on it’s nav lights until danger close, just making it near the basket for AAR is way more frustrating than it should be. And is this module considered complete or close to? The release was great for an early access but it doesn’t seem much progress has happened in the last 11 months..
  2. Thanks for the ideas NECK. I’m currently looking more to dip my toes in than go full squadron, at least for now. I’m mostly just bored with AI opponents and I’d like to see how I do in a furball against other people. And I appreciate linking me to SRS, I didn’t know such a thing existed. Why is such a fundamental function not a native part of DCS?! Sometimes ED makes my head spin. Got it up and running though. I checked out Growling Sidewinder, no hurdles while connecting and it seems pretty relaxed overall. Got my ass handed to me multiple times in a 30 minute session. Meaning I’ve got some learning to do! Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll remove it. I just thought the pw was supposed to be here somewhere since Hoggit is often mentioned in the forums. I still don’t know where people are actually supposed to find it. I just got it from some other forum after getting frustrated here and googling Hoggit Password. And you’re right about SRS, couldn’t have been an easier install and starts right up after clicking Multiplayer on the main DCS screen.
  3. Is there any guidance for a longtime DCS SP guy to try out MP, like requirements, tutorials or checklists or anything? In searching the forums I saw that Hoggit was a good place to start but so far there have been a bunch of bullshit hoops to jump through (the password is hoggit1fw for anyone else that spent the last two hours just trying to connect). It’s the same with most of the MP options in the list, and even if I can get in I keep getting yellow messages saying “Connect to SSR” or something. I don’t know what SSR is or how to connect to it, there’s no guidance anywhere and honestly I’m getting a little pissed off. End of rant. Guidance is appreciated.
  4. Dude, tracks have been eff’d since day one, over ten years now. Seriously how much patience do you expect us to have? Ten freaking years, smdh.
  5. They could give hourly updates or go totally radio silent, I don’t care. I just want a combat sim where the combat is actually somewhat functional. A flight sim that actually models the environment in which airplanes exist. This strange acceptance that ED is just blowing smoke is not ok. These aren’t things companies could get away with in the past. Whatever. I left DCS four or five years ago because it was a buggy semi functional mess built on promises. It’s still that, with a little better lighting. I guess I’ll check back in another five years.
  6. Ah good, I knew one of the resident forum trolls would make an appearance. Winner winner chicken dinner, zhukov. Now where are probad and USMC Trev? We can have a big ol troll party! I know they’re working in good faith. I know it hurts them worse than us when things slip by years. And I can see there was some unintended vitriol in my comment. Still, at what point do you just lose confidence that ED can accomplish what they say? For me I’m past that point. They've said the same things over and over, the same old announcements recycled as new announcements every year. I’m just not drinking the koolaid anymore, I simply don’t believe them.
  7. HA! It’d be great if it were a 5 year plan! But that list of items still contains a bunch of stuff that was announced back in 2015 to be released for 2016. New weather, improved AI, ATC overhaul, supercarrier, etc. It’s now almost 2020 and Wags is still talking about most of them as distant future items. There are a lot of people here that have an unlimited blank check of goodwill toward ED. I don’t. I’ve lost confidence they can actually accomplish what they say they’ll do. Yes they make great aircraft modules, the airplanes are great, but if you’re here for anything approaching a realistic combat sim, flight or otherwise, you better look elsewhere. It’s not for a lack of trying or desire, but simply their ambitions far exceed their ability. Whether this is due to money or skill or company management I don’t know, but it is a simple fact, proven by years and years of empty announcements.
  8. Here’s a thread from almost a year ago with similar issues. There are some good suggestions for increasing visibility distances that might be useful here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=209771&page=4 It sucks that ED keeps making things like this intentionally worse and we have to come up with the fixes for this shit. Getting tired of it honestly.
  9. Yep, literally the point of April Fools. Well played indeed, ED.
  10. Interesting, I’m beginning to think you don’t understand the purpose of the Wish List subforum. I haven’t seen any rule violations, but you’d like this thread closed because of the potential for rule violations? And you’ve been around awhile so you know every topic has been discussed to death, but this particular one seems to have you uncomfortable enough to discourage any further discussion at all. Interesting indeed. By the way, I don’t see “moderator” under your name. If the topic is so unpleasant for you I suggest just avoiding the thread altogether.
  11. Respectfully disagree on that. Maybe if you’re flying tanker or awacs and loitering for hours the current map sizes are ok. But definitely not for realistic heavy logistics or bomber missions. I personally feel the maps are a little claustrophobic even in modern fighters. You can easily fly PG edge to edge on internal fuel alone in the F-18. People always complain about the difficulty of AAR, but the funny thing is that if you’re flying halfway realistic missions in DCS you rarely ever need to hit a tanker. The current maps are more than big enough for helicopter ops, perfect for low and slow CAS missions, serviceable for a somewhat restrictive set of fighter ops, but way too small for realistic work with large transports or airliners.
  12. You’re half right. ED does combat aircraft better than anyone else. In this regard there’s really no competition. Combat simulation...not so much. In fact I’d argue the combat simulation in DCS is one of its weakest aspects. You have no idea how well it’s sell and neither do I. You do realize that these are considered major drawbacks of DCS, right? The weather has been a promised update for forever and it’s badly needed. In an interview Wags himself said he was embarrassed by the clouds in DCS. And a global earth wouldn’t just open up the simulation to airliners, which I don’t care about either way, but also bomber and logistics missions, which I would love!
  13. That’s honestly a little disappointing to hear, I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve heard so far. Thanks, I will!
  14. Wrong. Every single one of those dates and/or ‘windows’ was given by a HB rep over the years. By the way, their very own store still says F-14 2018 release: https://store.heatblur.com/pages/about-us
  15. No, they were shooting for 2017... 02/2017: And in Dec 2017 they apparently had a finished FM and “most, if not all” systems ready for EA. There’s quotes concerned with releasing too soon before, then after, the Hornet in the spring. Then summer 2018. Autumn. The 2018 Christmas debacle. Oops, not Feb 27 2019 either. All of these dates and ‘windows’ are from official HB sources. At this point even with Cobra’s “immutable” deadline I give it a less than 50% chance of being released in March. The only date I can give with 100% certainty is March 21st. If I’m still Cat-less then that’s the day I submit for a refund and never look back. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... three... four... five... six...
