  2. Going through here I found an argument against a Dynamic Campaign system over scripted campaigns on the basis of immersion. I would have to respectfully disagree here on personal experience. With a scripted campaign I never really find myself getting into into whatever story I'm given, it's usually just stuff to skip through looking for information relevant to the mission at hand. However whenever I would find myself flying a campaign in Falcon I would always have a little story going in my head as things unfolded and as the forces in the theater shifted. Also, like howie87 stated if done right all the radio chatter of different flights really puts you in the theater and adds a whole other layer of immersion that's hard to beat.
  3. Dynamic campaign hands down. Right now lack of content in the way of missions is one of DCS' biggest short comings, and while adding new missions and campaigns helps it does get old playing the same missions over and over again. With a dynamic campaign system in place thing like replay ability are no longer an issue. Players won't have to rely on other to get new mission to enjoy or be forced to fly a mission they created taking out much of the surprise of whats going on. Not only that but mission types. Want to fly SEAD? Do a fighter sweep? Take out an Airfield? Instead of searching trying to find a mission or building one from scratch just select that mission type in your campaign and go to town. It may take more time and work to setup something like this, but in the end it would save a lot of time and resources down the road I would think than trying to keep your customers happy by constantly having to build new missions and campaign stories throughout the lifespan of this great simulation.
  4. They did do a great job. I just finished flying the F-86 and MiG-15 in 1.5 tonight, finally putting them through their paces with the new version. I must say the flight models have improved immensely, I enjoyed both these modules a lot before but now I absolutely love them. You won't be disappointed Azazel buying the MiG, not at all.
  5. Here are my settings at the time of the incident.
  6. AI wingman in the Emergency CAS mission. I noticed it after he fired some rockets off, I don't know if it was like this at the start.
  7. I went with Vietnam because there are a lot of aircraft in that era that I would like to see. My personal short list would be the F-4 Phantom, the A-4 Skyhawk, and the A-1 Skyraider. Then there is the F-8, A-6, A-7, even the F-105 might be good fun. There are just so many great and iconic aircraft from that period I would like to get my hands on.
  8. A good way to implement a backseater would be to use a simple communication/command menu in line with comms. You could have commands for them to select targets on the radar call out visuals, ect. It would cool in a ACM situation to have an AI able to give regular updates bandit is now at 3 O'Clock or warning when someone gets on your tail. And if feasible implement a multilayer option allowing 2 humans in multiplayer to assume pilot/WSO role.

  10. I don't think Video cards or their drivers are the issue here. I'm rocking an Nvidia and updated to the latest driver that came out yesterday and it was still a no go on this issue. For some reason Windows 8 and DCS don't want to play nice anymore but I really do hope ED gets on this one stat especially with the Win 8 Launch right around the corner. Prior to 1.2.1 it hasn't been an issue at all and I've been using the Win 8 beta since it was first publicly released many months ago.
  11. Same here. I did the new intercept mission for the P-51 and after getting hosed and killed it worked like advertised and returned me to the summery screen and even logged my death. So I decided to go back for a little warthog action and after an awesome mission it crashed again upon exit.
  12. Well at this moment in time I really can't justify redoing my setup just to play a game, er sim :) so hopefully it gets fixed soon or I can figure something else out to do on my end. Thankfully I can still fly it's just my flights aren't logged and I have to restart DCS each time but it is better than nothing.
  13. I too am running Windows 8 consumer preview and I've tried all suggestions here with no go. I can fly all day long but when I exit a mission it crashes at 96% now. Here is the culprit according to Event Viewer Faulting application name: Launcher.exe_DCS, version: 1.2.1.6192, time stamp: 0x505235cc Faulting module name: lua-dxgui.dll, version: 1.2.1.6192, time stamp: 0x505235f9
  14. I've been having the exact same issue as well.
  15. There's a novel I read when a Mudhen driver in an exciting climax uses a Mav he still had after depleting the rest of his ammo to take out a Mig-23 (maybe a 27 it been a while). Based on that I've tried this myself a few times usually on helicopters with great success. I never though to try it with much else figuring it would be easy to spoof a Mav against a fixed wing target with some decent maneuverability. Maybe I should rethink that. Future MiG-21Bis drivers have been warned :)
