I stick to EVGA when buying graphics cards. Warranty and support is second to none.

On the topic of OEM or retail. They are identical, it's just more of a legal issue. You can install both copies on one PC at a time. However the OEM version should be tied to one PC for the duration of its lifetime and can't then be used on another. I believe a retail version can be used on up to 5 different machines, as long as only one at a time. Upgrades or new builds etc. Having said that I had an OEM copy of windows and my motherboard blew within a short amount of time and MS were fine with activating it. Might have had to phone and state it is only used on one machine, I think.

Well, I have no HOTAS at the moment but I've been checking in here now and then and I have to say I'm very disappointed! Reason being, I have to now spend money and buy a joystick. DCS really is starting to look superb. It's taken a long time and a lot of patience from the fans I see posting regularly, and the community looks to have grown considerably and has a great vibe to it. Congrats ED. Keep up the good work. I'll have to slowly get back into this, and find time to do so!

Windows X, Free upgrade for the first year.
Bodo replied to SkateZilla's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'd want to do a clean install, but my upgrade is still in the waiting phase... On the subject of clean installs, though, how do you retrive the product key that's 'traded in' when you upgrade? -

Disable SLi - test Disable background services that are unnecessary Disable GFX setings and build each one up on by one until you find which has the most impact. -

New build advice and recommendations
Bodo replied to BIGNEWY's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
750D does look good, not read too much into it. The Be Quiet is a great case for a first from Be Quiet and I have started to come to know them as very well built bits of kit. What might put you off the 550D is the front USB if you keep the door closed and need access to ODD or fan control etc...I didn't much, but now n then if something is plugged in with a cable, it got in the way. Be Quiet has them nicely sat on the top, with a nice big power button there too! And I meant to say quite a bit quiter than the 550D, but both are very good in that respect , considering what fans you utilise inside etc.. -
New build advice and recommendations

Be Quiet system 800 here. Just replaced a COrsair 550D which I also really liked. System 800 is that bit quieter. Little bit iffy on the SSD slots but it's fine really. Really nicely built and well worth it. -
Interesting, but I'm guessing you'd really need to split the audio outs from DCS in order to sub mix them. I guess DCS simply outputs all audio to a specific output? Nice idea, though. Never thought about doing this as never entertained the possibilty that the audio could be separeted from DCS. Ah....wishlist!...Didn't notice. Yeh, good idea! :)

TM Warthog throttle repair
Bodo replied to Grizzly1606688174's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just a post to say it's this that puts me off the warthog, other manufacturers like saitek don't do it for me either and it's the only reason I don't bother with dcs as much as I'd like. Maybe I should go the x55 route or just get a warthog or ch products, although they're aging a little now... Hmm -
Well, I was offered a return which was good of Scan. I'm not going to go through with it. Dissapointing how nvidia dealt with this but I'm over it.

http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-Plans-Driver-Update-GTX-970-Memory-Issue-Help-Returns I understand some of the issues here, but the way people react is a little OTT. Interesting article and would go some way to acknowledge the issue and explain what will hopefully happen next.
