  1. Cool! Yeah allot of AF guys retire here, even some of the Germans! :) Holloman is a great AFB, not too big, not too small.. The best part about it, for the AF pilots is the WSMR test area, they got lots of room to do 'stuff'. I was out on the range one day, headed to the zumwall track for some russian target testing when I saw two F22s doing a moc dog fight above, the real cool part was when one of them started popping flares, so they must have been doing some serious lock on testing. So, you saw the transition from QF106 to QF4s, we are now in the transition from QF4, to QF16s.. We just installed a bunch of new cameras along the runway to monitor the take off and landings.. That was fun, I basically spend the whole day tracking UAVs, Tornados, F22, F18, QF4, QF16 taking off and landing.. Didn't even feel like work! ;)
  2. I love watching the Tornados take off from HOLLOMAN.. I just need to make sure you not driving near the end of the runway and taking a sip of coffee when they do it! :) But I am going to miss the F-22s :(
  3. Well I made several points, so, not sure which one you were referring too.. But, we are way OT here and it really does not mater if we agree on every aspect.. So, lets just leave it at that and agree to disagree on what ever point I made that you don't agree with! ;)
  4. As others noted, it was not the only shameless case Only parts the changed were the parts they were not capable of making, for example, the skin itself was something they were not capable of reproducing, which resulted in them using a thicker skin, which added more weight Im sure there was more to it than that Agreed, and really no need to discuss it any further, in that it is what it is. Discussing it further will not change the facts of it. True, but, one would not expect this from an allied country.. One that you just spend years 'giving' them the means via the lend lease program to stay alive As noted above, not 'everything'
  5. That was fun, saved a P51 from a Dora.. Dora pilot was a little upset.. Seem to have a 'thing' against team work! ;)
  6. Cool, they showed the UVT software I work on
  7. I don't know if it will.. All I know is if it don't, WWII air combat will be so limited in the DCS world that I fear it will never stand a chance of becoming a good let alone popular WWII air combat simulator. It will fall into the category of a Microsoft like servey sim IMHO
  8. Agreed When a person, company, country, etc pays the licensing fee, patent royalties, etc to make 'it' That does not equate to 'copying it' IMHO.. Which was not the case with the B-29.. The Russian's did not pay any licensing fee, patent royalties, etc to make 'it' That does equate to 'copying it'.. Also known as 'stealing it' IMHO
  9. That is not true.. The US did not sell them the two B29s, the B29s were forced to land in Russian territory and the Russian took the US pilot 'captive'.. After some time, the Russian released the pilots, but kept the B29
  10. why did they show the cockpit frame for the P-38 and not the others?
  11. Sad but true.. There are very few, if any, flight sims out there, other than the 10+ yo IL2 that has the planes and maps needed to do a historical WWII anything.. Hopefully DCS will fill those needs over the next few years, what with the 3rd party dev path, things could and should happen quicker.. But, besides that, the hard core flight combat market has become and even smaller nitch market, what with the likes of WarThunder mindsets, sadly, air quake has become the norm and historic the exception.
  12. Same is true of the P80, it actually flew missions in ETO.. and there was a boat load of them ready to be offloaded in PTO, but the ABomb cut that short.
