  1. Please add me to the list K-51.....shipping to UK
  2. As a comparison, I'm getting approx 90fps constant in 1.5.....as soon as I enable 'depth of field' in the settings and go to an external view it drops to 5fps. I'm not convinced that the 'depth of field' is in any way realistic anyway, it just blurs everything other than the aircraft with no real difference between near/far objects.
  3. Yes, understood. These extensions greatly benefit the fine control......moral of the story anyway is just be careful and try not to over-tighten. That gimble ideally would have been of something a little better/stronger - compared to all the other quality components in the WH and based on how fundamental it is for control it was a strange design decision to go with such a rough plastic.
  4. But do any of the extensions feature the locking pattern at the bottom? I have had 3 different extensions (all great by the way) but all of them only have threads top and bottom......so this is where the problem occurs if overtightened.
  5. Yep, the extensions provide extra leverage and if they're too tight there is a real danger of some damage that is expensive to put right. It's not so much the gimble, but the internal wires and hall sensor/magnet which will go first....there are a couple of us on the SimHQ forums that had the exact same problem. Because the locking mechanism doesn't have a direct connection when an extension is in use, attempting to unscrew a stick extension means that the gimble only needs to twist 90 degrees (and it will) inside the base before the wires and sensor get ripped out. I got a quote for £150 to replace the base section by Thrustmaster because they wouldn't supply the gimble/sensor separately, however I believe some other people have had some joy in getting individual spares for their sticks since. I ended up getting a spare Warthog base shipped from Canada to the UK just to fix my issue. Only other recommendation I can give is to ensure that stick extensions aren't overtightened in the first place. :(
  6. Has no-one considered a matt black or matt/glossy carbon wrap? I've hidden all sorts of stuff under this adhesive wrap. Always looks the part. matt black wrap matt/glossy carbon wrap
  7. Ah, reinstall has fixed it....everything working
  8. I am struggling to get Helios working with physical toggle switches. I have my commands configured, what do I need to do with regards lua files to have the physical switches working in-game? Is it a similar process creating the export folder and copying existing files across?
  9. Thanks for the help and links....some great work you've done there! I am really looking to do my mod with only 1 x FFB2 base and will probably go for a desk mounted stick as my centre-mount is now gone. I think the Warthog grip will be too heavy for this so will go with an X52 pro stick and mount the 3 x toggle buttons onto the FFB2 case.
  10. Thanks, I am realistically looking at only 1 x FFB2 to do my mod, so as you (and PeterP) suggest, it's probably on the heavy side to pull this off. It was the non-doctoring of the grip that appeals but it looks like doing the mod with an X52 pro grip will be more successful. I used to have a centre-mount stick which I created for the Warthog Hotas but have since gone back to a desk mounted stick as I haven't got as much time these days as I used to have and desk mounted means I can whip it out and get everything ready much quicker (and it keeps the wife a little happier!) . I think the X52 mod, and possibly mounting the 3 x toggle buttons on the FFB2 base is the way I'll go with this.
  11. A really stupid question here....but need to confirm:- The FFB2 is only using the axis as you say, so I presume that the stick section is obviously disconnected but the usb cable is still used in order to get the FFB through to the motors via DirectX? So your X52 electronics are exactly as there were, in effect they have just been removed from the X52 plastic case and also utilises the normal USB connection (or trying to remember off the top of my head if the usb comes off the throttle) so therefore you still have the mini-din (PS2) cable also connecting the X52 throttle/stick internals together? Thanks in advance.
  12. I've only just found this thread tonight after finding a bargain MS FFB2 stick on ebay. I have a spare Warthog handle/circuit boards so will be looking to do this mod, the only issue I can see is the weight of the Warthog grip and the effect it has on the force feedback motors. I'll have to find a decent method of connecting the WH grip to the FFB2 shaft as all mini-din connector is obviously presented at the bottom - will probably look at the garden hose route although I do have one of Metal n Woods extenders which may make it easier but would probably have an even worse effect on the ffb motors. I'm definitely interested to see if anyone else has attempted it with a Warthog grip though.....I think that grip together with the MS FFB2 base (and the Warthog Throttle) is the perfect combination for any flight sim. The beauty of using a Warthog grip is that the thing doesn't have to be taken apart - worst case means I will have to rip my x52 pro stick apart and use that as it will be much lighter.
  13. A huge thanks specifically to 'Tyger' for hosting this training and other members of '74th' for assisting. It was very professionally put together and delivered and it certainly kept my intereat for the whole duration. I was evidently plain rubbish but learned a huge amount from this training and now have some good manoeuvres to practice in my own time. I struggled at the start wondering why it was that when we went to practice the lessons that had just been demonstrated, my helo was spinning all over the place on the tarmac.....turned out I had the game 'synchronised' to my Warthog controller button-states so the engines were immediately turning off etc. The livefeed combined brilliantly with the spectator mode and subsequent practices making it really easy to see the tutorials and make some notes. Looking forward to the next one and once again a big thankyou for doing this, it's appreciated. The enthusiasm and patience Tyger had (with me!) is commendable. If I were to give any recommendations, it would be to suggest in a little more detail what the lessons would be and give some recommendations as to what the basic buttons/controls (and possibly keyboard shortcuts) need to be mapped for the lessons. Because there are so many controls available, it's mind numbing when looking for something you may not be familar with and having to use precious training time go back into the game options to edit/check control settings.
