    4th!

Not that I expect anyone from ED to read this... The Huey doesn't even have its own wish list subforum..

Might be a better idea to just create a new thread for this.

5th. its always bothered me that the full range isnt usable

Virpil rotor plus owner as well

  2. I have been revisiting the Viggen and was flying some training sorties.

I have noticed that i never get mode 5 in ternav even though im within parameters (less than 500m and flight pan fixed). It is typically showing 0 and occasionally 2 or 3 but never 5.

So i rolled back to stable 2.5.3.23225 and presto its working just fine and as expected.

Im going to revisit the other patches and see which one it broke in

EDIT: It appears that it was broke in DCS 2.5.3.23954 and up

  3. What parts can you not do? Fuse changes for nose or nose/tail should be cockpit selectable, is it just the CBU settings that can't be changed in the cockpit? Thought it was possible since it is technically a "smart weapon" that is mounted to pylons with a MIL-STD-1760 bus. I don't really have any experience with CBUs though because they aren't used.

you can change fuzing options but none of the HOF,SPIN,etc

    "Smart" refers to the guidance

  4. I don't know a lot about the MK-20 fuzes, but with normal CBUs it is normally cockpit selectable height adjustment that I don't think is in DCS AV-8 yet but you can mess with in A-10C right now. Other than that, the MK-82 AIRS should have selectable fuzing for nose or nose/tail. Selecting nose means the bomb will arm but the chute won't deploy so it will perform close to a normal MK82, nose/tail means the chute will deploy for the high drag option. I haven't tested the fuzing options in DCS to confirm if that works with A-10C or AV-8, since pretty much all the time I'm just using JDAMs and LGBs.

For now I just use N/T for everything in DCS. Usually just N alone should fuze the bomb and it will detonate on impact but the aircraft holding the tail solenoid closed won't have any negative effect so doesn't hurt to have it selected as well.

Even though the A-10C allows this in game in RL you cannot change these settings (HOF,etc)in flight on the Hog. They are done via ground crew. We get to do it via DSMS as we dont have ground crew

  5. reference A1-AV8BB-NFM-000 PG 217 Section 4.1 Limitations

    AV-8B – 585 KCAS/1.0 indicated mach number (IMN).

    TAV-8B – 550 KCAS/0.9 IMN.

There is also a chart 4-8 that will give you specific speed vs altitude. And then the weapons also have limitations based on configuration. you would take the lowest of all three

  6. I am really enjoying the C101 and want to use it in its intended role as a trainer. Obviously in order to do that multi-crew needs to be functional. What is the state of multi-crew? what works and what is still WIP? Im very excited to do some primary/secondary training in a plane with western nav systems but cant recommend my "students" buy it for training unless i know its up to the task.

Depending on the state of multi-crew I would love to find another c-101 owner to play with multi crew as well

  7. ok. I have a fix in place for this (only a few lines of code) but have found another issue. you hook into mul_create_server.lua for the multiplayer server startup. Your code gets run here as expected, however when the server rolls to a new map it does not call this module as it does not re-enter mul_create_server.lua therefore the metars will not update. Im not sure if this is what you intended as most people who do server map reloads on a time interval do so by killing DCS and restarting.

    DAWS_Weather_mul.lua

  8. Uhm, I'm on holiday but if I remember correctly you won't have the metar line in the briefing for the multiplayer server feature, maybe I will have to add this info to the manual. That feature is almost to be used for servers who rolls mission every "n" hours, automatically, so that the mission will be constantly have updated weather conditions at every mission launch.

For any normal server using my suggestion is to use the ME standard workflow, so:

    1. enter the ME

    2. open the mission

    3. go to weather panel

    4. download updated weather

    5. save the mission

that workflow will always have METAR line in the general briefing (unless not available).

    EDIT:

the reason for not having that feature is that I don't have a way to remove the previous metar so that if I add the metar code at any load, it will be added instead of overwrited... but to be honest I thought a working way to get that right now, and to remove the "tag line" also. I will evaluate if it's a good addition or too complex when I come back from holiday.

Ok. It would be really useful to have the metar there as there is no reliable in-game way of getting the info, specifically QNH.

With regards to how to handle the metar, one suggestion is to save the original description to a temp (table or file) then when you reload just replace the description with the saved original and the metar concatenated. That way you dont need to worry about a search and replace. If your code is is in source control, i can clone it and if i have time make the changes and submit a pull request. No guarantees as im on Paternity Leave with a 2week old baby and can get quite busy

  9. All,

Currently this mod is not compatible in 1.5 (mostly works but gui is munged) or 2.0 (there are code conflicts in sections that i changed). I have identified the areas and hope to have a fix out by the end of the year. If that changes Ill let you know.

Also remember that 1.5 and 2.0 are Beta and Alpha respectively so dont be surprised if it breaks again before they go RC as the velocity of code changes will be high

  10. Hello, whartsell.I've found that in DCS 1.5 when I install Static ATC Menu Mod.On the top,it will show both old style and the new style of the contact information. When I uninstall the mod,it will be normal. Not a big deal, but a little little hard for me to read the information.

    Regards.

I have looked at the code and there are bits in 1.5 and 2.0 that conflict with the changes I made for the static menu mod. I have identified the problem areas and hope to get this knocked out before the end of the year (while on vacation).

  11. I've made some changes in whartsells mod.

I've made all options for the ATC commands enabled in every state you are, i.e. before startup, taxi, takeoff and in air. Reason for this is to have the same keybindings always despite your flight-state, so you can easy bind them to VAC.

Keys for the ATC commands are as followed (in the ATC-submenu):

    F1 Request Startup

    F2 Request Taxi

    F3 Request Hover

    F4 Request Takeoff

    F5 Abort Takeoff

    F6 Inbound

    F7 Abort Inbound

    F8 Request Landing

    F9 Request Azimuth

Also I've added my VAC profile file, but it is not yet complete. I've not added ground crew and not tested all the airports (as for now I'm unsure if VAC can detect, or me/you pronounce, the more complicated airport names).

What I added, and no more:

    * Every airport name and ATC command, i.e. 'Kobuleti Request Landing'

    * Flight and Wingman commands which are (Wingman or Flight pronounced before):

    - Anchor Here

    - Return To Base

    - Fly To SPI

    - Fly To Steerpoint

    - Fly To Tanker

    - Engage Ground Targets

    - Engage Armor

    - Engage Artillery

    - Engage Air Defence

    - Engage Utility Vehicles

    - Engage Infantry

    - Engage Ships

    - Engage Bandits

    - Rejoin

    - Formation (when 'wingman' instead of 'flight' is pronounced before, he actually rejoins).

    EDIT:

NOTE: VAP profile it is still premature and I added this just for people to look at, VAICOM is more recommended, but does not use realisitic comms.

NOTE: There are some cavecats with the current ATC-script of mine, as the menu does not close after a command is sent. I cannot check this script this week as I'm out working. But I'll what I can do when I come home.

Great. Idea..Ill check out what you have done and get it merged into the mod available for DL

  12. here is a bit to get the process started...

  13. when you say certify new hardware you have to be a bit more specific. Do you mean VFR or IFR? on what type of platform? Standard Type Certificate or EAB ? for what type of operation? Far 91 or 121 etc. Permanent or handheld?

Its a really messy system and unless you got loads of cash you can forget about any market outside of EAB aircraft

There are a ton of systems out there they are very reasonable for example... https://www.iflygps.com/

    https://www.foreflight.com/

my plane will have a full glass cockpit with this efis.... http://www.thenewskyview.com/
