  1. Okay, I have a slightly different problem - As an owner of BS2, BS3 has been at the 9.99 mark, but weirdly enough, in the sale, it's showing up as 19.99 even though I'm logged in. Has it had a price rise, or is it a peculiarity?
  2. Hmm, one positive comment, one negative comment. Question - I can't see anyone's sig, is there a setting I'm missing?
  3. Morning all, I have an ancient system, but it runs DCS pretty well considering. i5-3570K, 16GB RAM and GTX1060 6GB I can get between 30 and 60fps depending on module, terrain and altitude Obviously, I'm only playing in pancake mode. However, I don't want to drop $64 on a game that I won't be able to play, so does anyone have a rough estimate for where Apache falls in terms of framerate? I've heard MI-24 is very resource hungry-is that a fair comment and if so, is that what Apache is like or is it as smooth as Viper or F-18? Also, if anyone can give me some tips on settings to improve fps in general, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  4. Many thanks all. When I get a spare hour, I will try to fettle DCS as best as I can, if not, try a fresh install. I did wonder up til now how I could get the Marianas as it wasn't showing at all until I updated. I am saving for parts to build a new PC, but it's slow going! Thanks again.
  5. I updated DCS to the latest stable version yesterday and am gutted to find it turned into a slide show. AV8B ran like crap, even though my system is old, it used to run 60fps in Free Flight without issues. Damn it, it's payday today and I was really hoping to pre-purchase Apache as a Christmas gift to myself. Is there any way of reverting back to an older version? Also, when I updated, I got a message saying there was a lot of files found in my download folder, keep/delete? I deleted them, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't have. Any advice? ETA: Could someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of how to do a complete clean uninstall of DCS, as that might be my next step.
  6. I thank you. I should've put that I am playing the trial at the moment and hadn't seen that video. Thanks, I will try when I get home tonight.
  7. Hi, Not sure if a bug, control setup problem or issue with sim torque/trim. As soon as I start the mission in the Hind, it wants to roll to the left and I have to adjust the stick to the right to counteract it. It's quite annoying, so I wondered if it is a trim issue, a function of the torque on the rotor blades, or is it likely to be a setup issue on my end? Thanks in advance,
  8. I heard on The Fighter Podcast a Harrier pilot, who said that the 120% RPM is an absolute emergency type situation. They don't train for it and don't use it in day to day flights as it is too taxing on the engine, which is an absolute pig to maintain anyway.
  9. Wing flex! I never thought such a thing could be so exciting, but it is. Many thanks, I will try that when I get home.
  10. Sorry, how do I access the free trial?
  11. I have a very budget HOTAS system (Black Widow) and I can fly KA-50 just fine with it. DCS is quite friendly playing with joysticks and to be honest, I'd be highly surprised if you can't get it to work satisfactorily with it. Pull the trigger.
  12. Hi, After a while without Black Shark, (now I have a bigger SSD :)) I went to reinstall it. Imagine my horror when my disc refused to load, with the DVD drive not even recognising there was a disc in there. I tried with other media and it played all those just fine. It was my BS disc only. Sure enough, there was a weird discolouration going on and a thin scratch right on the edge. Disheartened, I went to the DCS store to see how much a replacement copy would be. At least I wouldn't have to install the disc, update it, then patch it into DCS like I used to. Maybe that would offset the pain of replacing it. Imagine my surprise when I found out that I was able to "cash in" the serial number of my BS disc! It got added to DCS and it doesn't matter that my disc is unserviceable, as it is now in my library. I work as many hours as I can, have two special children and a lovely wife. I don't have a lot of free time or money, but this really made my week. Thank you ED for this act of kindness, it is much appreciated.
  13. I'm glad you found out the issue. I had all sorts of problems when running it from my archaic hard drive - stuttering, pauses etc. Since I got an SSD for Christmas, I reinstalled DCS on that and it has improved things immensely. My system is far inferior to yours, (i5-3570K, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM) yet I'm getting screen tearing whilst panning around the cockpit, indicating FPS higher than my refresh rate of 60hz. I'm actually super impressed with how beautiful it runs (on Free Flight) anyway. I'm assuming it will run like faeces once I have a tonne of AI and stuff in a proper mission, right?
