  1. I still have not been able to use FC3 which I paid plenty of money for. No support here or through ticket. Dissapointing that ED can treat loyal customers like this. Ultimately these problems are due to the backwards way ED expect modules to be installed. I have paid for my module. I can buy a LOMAC disc for £1.99 in PC world. Believe me I have LOMAC and have owned it for years. I have paid plent for FC3, just let me use it!!! I cannot use the A10A or SU25 modules with my FC3 code either.
  2. Hi, When you land on the carrier (P51) your skid marks are visible some distance off the stern of the ship, hanging in mid air at deck height by the time you have taxied back to the stern. When you stop on the deck, you don't stop but gradually edge forwards, into the wind, defying all logic. Also if you take off from the carrier badly, going off the side with one wheel, the wheel still on the deck will break off but actually just vanishes. HOWEVER when you then retract the remaining wheel , you will see that the broken wheel is not in fact broken off but nicely retracted already behind its gear door.
  3. A couple of years ago the turbulence used to be far too strong for reported weather conditions. That must have changed. I think for the better: When I fly in RL, 90% of the experience of turbulence comes through the seat of the pants, which would be hard to simulate. Hitting a lump may give me the pilot quite a sensation, but the flight path or aircraft attitude is rarely changed by much. Also I am not used to flying A10s and P51s and KA50s in real life. Lighter aircraft and gliders are obviously affected a lot more.
  4. I am sure that structural failure did happen to fighters flying too fast. I have read it, sorry I cant provide any references. (I am sure it also happens in the sim, definately in the case of the A10) Also if you look at the envelope for aircraft there is a portion where full control deflections are allowed and will not cause structural failure. On a modern airspeed indicator this is denoted by the green arc. The amber arc denotes area where structural failure could occur with full deflection. This might not be shown on archaic P51 ASI but you can be sure that the laws of physics have not changed since WWII. I was not intending to imply that DCS has done a bad job, I think the reaction of the P51 is excellent (certainly in pitch) and soon provides the diligent pilot with a feeling with how much deflection is just enough and how much is too much. You can always reduce your rudder sensitivity or make it curved, should help
  5. I think the problem is that in RL a pilot would not be strong enough to deflect the rudder pedal by much at high speed. You cannot experience this with your PC flight stick or RC controller. If he was strong enough the fin would probably break off. This has happened to airliners where the controls are powered and the pilot makes too big a deflection.

  7. Hi thanks! I have tried the gyro sight a couple of times but find I it more difficult, to get it to settle on the target, I reckon you can figure the trajectory out yourself with a bit of practice. Would love to fly online more, usually it not an option as the connection is too slow on the ship I work on. I tried when I got home but only found one server open to public, which only had 1-2 others in it who it was impossible to find without icons/map/external views.
  8. Hi, I have now bought FC3 for DCS. I have tried to install Lock On off my original disk. The disc runs ok but the install wont work. I get a picture of the front of an F15 with the optoin Install. When I click that nothing happens. Inside the disc if I right click on autorun and run as administrator the same thing happens. I also have the Lock On Gold box set so tried the Lock on disc out of that. Same result. I have tried to install other programs from other discs and they all work fine, (F4AF and VFR scenery for FSX). Actually they dont autorun but when I select the install icon within the disc they work ok. There is something about the lock on discs that my computer doesnt agree with. I really want to try out FC3 but its not going well so far!. Any advice how I can go about getting it installed now? Best Regards BPO BP76
  9. Hi I wanted to make a mission that had a campaign feel about it. This is it, its my first try so fairly basic. Hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to make improvements and repost it back to the thread! Happy landings, BP76 The Morning Shift A Russian offensive to re-take Georgia has stagnated on the north bank of the River Rioni. The crucial river crossings at Poti in the west and Samtredia in the east are defended on both sides by concentrations of forces. Both sides mount constant air patrols along the front line in a continual attempt to attrite enemy concentrations and defend against any ground offensives. Your mission is to perform CAP along the front line and also attack enemy forces where possible. However you must keep the aircraft in working order ready for the afternoon pilots who will take over from 1300. We have lots of spare parts, but few spare aircraft. It is crucial to the continued defense of Georgia that your aircraft is available for future operations. You are covering the morning shift, 0700 to 1300. Good Luck! The Morning Shift (P51).miz
  10. OOHH JYEAH! (In the voice of the big red jug of juice that jumps through the walls in Family Guy) I am getting now. Excellent is not a lot better than Average I think ace death.trk test2.miz
  11. I hadnt thought of that. Sometimes I just cant be bothered setting up the stick and the Track IR. It would be good to have a DCS program where you just need mouse (I presume?) Maybe my neighbors on the plane wont mind me setting up my 17in gaming laptop when I fly to NY in a couple of weeks and blowing hot air out of the overloaded CPU/GPU all over them, and the sound of gunfire. Better be a power supply handy!
  12. I am happy to read this thread, in fact I have just got back into DCS and went on my first A10 mission the other day after a brush up in the instant action. I was hopelessly flailing around the battle field, couldnt event find the guy I was supposed to be protecting, trying to find the AAA by presenting myself as an easy target and eventually getting shot down. No labels or F10 because I was trying to be realistic. Having read the useful replies on here I now realise that I hadnt given my self much of a chance. In real life the pilot has so much support that we dont have, not with the lousy wingman, lousy comms and in this case no JTAC. So I will be using the F10 from now on. With Fog of war sounds realistic enough. As for dropping pencils, of course that was a fairly flippant comment for a cheap laugh. In reality though I think the A10 dude would think twice before flipping his bird upside down with a decent load of fuel and bombs at altitude. Remeberr its not about going upside down but mainting negative g long enought to locate said pencil . I would tie it to my wrist I reckon.
  13. This thread makes me want to buy CA. Problem is, I dont think I have time to learn how to be a ground commander as well as P51 ace, KA50 dude and A10C jock. And do real work as well.
  14. A10C pilots probably dont have any trouble reading their TGP like we do, however ejector seats I have seen have got a lever to release the harness at the shoulders that allows you to lean forward. Otherwise what does steely eyed hawg pilot do when he drops his pencil?
  15. HI Vimanamen, Thanks for posting the miz I look forward to trying that after work!. Maybe I will have to put the water effects up a couple of notches. I got them on low. Cheers BP76
