Those lights might be a bit too expensive? :P Kidding, maybe soething that cause another something in MP, dunno, but more likely, i'd be curious to know the reason.

I made the DDI black instead of green, on my side i found it does help a bit as it adds more contrast and i like it better, doesn'T represent Lot 20, but i like most recent ones black instead of green, as per the color, might help a bit yellowish, but for sure, it's more readable on the moving map, not 500% more, but a bit more than green. As per sharpness, i edited another .lua file that makes the text a bit thiner, less bold, so does help a bit.

They do exist, as i was able to turn the Argument on in ModelViewer for another post on the subject, but it jsut doesn't turn on in game, but the Arguments for it does exits, maybe for a future planning. See below screenshots. As you can see, there is also lights in the island and the launch/cat/ observatory bunker, or not sure how it's called.

Well then, if this occurs, it would make more sens to see Hornet's in MP going UFO up and down while on ground, that way their wing flappings would explain the flying vertical up and down non-stop for lagging players :P

Proofs i don't like that aircraft at all :) I've seen picture of some F-5's refueling back then so i thught all variants were having probes, seems they didn't have it all :)

These kind of post makes me happy i never went the video game industries path. Seems pretty much impossible to always please everyone... Some games is, PVE players versus PVP players for insatisfaction, and here, you get the Military simmers, with armements, weapons etc.. versus the Demonstration flyer simmers, who doesn't care much about armements, so one wants weapon system fixed or implemented asap, and some doesn't care about it and all matters is the way the bird flies at 10/30 ft.... For god sake, they tried their best to give us the Hornet, by far the best found on any sims.... Reminds to yourself guys, if unhappy with is, feel free to download F-15 Strike Eagle II and fly your 10/30 ft above the ground in it if unable to wait the hornet comes in final product. Funny statement, us, armchair pilots, whine more about the module flight dynamics, than real hornet pilots that tried or fly the sim, funny isn't? Got to say, come on ED, been flying the Hornet since access on May, and i'm still waiting to feel G-Force on my chair, work a bit harder please. :P

Welcome aboard man. My answer might not be helping but i can simply answer, all depends of your degrees of what you like. I personaly fly the sim, cuz it's a way of doing what real life didn't allowed me to do. So not-clickable cockpits for me is absolutely a no go, i simply go for most completed models. Trying to get things closer to the real thing rather than a early 90's video game. As per switch positions etc, yes with time it'll all comes by reflexes, like driving a car, at the begining, i remember, i was looking at the gear shifter, the radios buttons, after a while all goes by brain memory muscle and not looking at them in anyways, specialy on the HOTAS for this case, and sad thing is, there is so many bindings, if you fly many aircrafts also with different bindings, and if you're after a while out of the sim, it's a bit of relearning them when you come back (my case now). :) It's like any games, the few hours of moments are a pain cuz you can't remember what button does what on the gamepad. As title said, it's a learning curve, but all depends of your patience and how you like flying sim, as for exemple, i love flying sims and so not too much into car sims, and i just got Dirt Rally, i have so not the patience to learn all the mechanics for tuning cars setups and learning behaviors of cars systems mechanics, but in DCS, i'll have all the patience to read, watch videos, learn my fav aircrafts systems, procedures, ordonance setups, configs etc... If you like it, give yourself the time, enjoy each progression and yes, some stuff can be frustrating and long learning curves, not to mention all, but one common, Air Refueling, knowing where all the swtiches are and refueling at the same time... Lots of stuff requires lots of practice, with time all gets memory muscle (god knows how i hated VR HMD when i first got it, being able to click stuff, keyboard etc while being blind, but yah, no coffee spiled), good thing is, we are most, virtual pilots, our life or job doesn't rely on it, and we can go our own pace. On a last word, i can tell you, we all being there i am sure, but this little icon/emoji i end up with, will come more than often on your mind as you learn stuff around. :) ----» :joystick: «----- Have fun man

I can imagine your feeling :( Different from you, but on my side, in VR with Oculus, i had to set it in the option for both eyes, if only one eye used it was too dimed and lack contrast at the point not enjoyable and barely visible depending on the background it went over.

In my own opinion, the Harrier was for me the hardest of all DCS modules to air-refuel at first, at least even if the AI is stupid and when not bugged, with the F-15, it was able to connect when it's out of view and using the lights on the tanker's big belly, but with the harrier as you need to stick the probe inside the basket, with no AI moving stuff around, was tricky at first, but love the challenge.... only aricraft i never tried Air refueling is the F-5, cuz i have almost 0 interest what so ever to that aircraft.

Not sure if it's a real reference, but a while ago in a different post on the same subjet, someone wrote:

Thanks for sharing, another nice video from Mover. Reminds me an episode of Jetstream, the serie folowing the RCAF Hornet pilot rookies in their training, the episode they went for the first time Ridge Crossing and low level flight.... was the only time the Instructors asked their student how they were doing that morning and felt smooth on them before hooping in the back. :)

From what i understood by cheking few start-up tutorials, that'S where they see if controls being wiped out correctly on start-up, when they check all stick travels, if rudder goes preperly all right way left and right, ailerons etc with stick forward, aft, left and right, as well as when they press the FCS reset switch/button on the start up procedure, that is where they see all the X being wiped out the screen.

Hard time Dogfighting MiG-15, F-86 and M2000
Doum76 replied to GrEaSeLiTeNiN's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
We all know the AI are a bunch of cheaters, as much of a cheaters as Mr. Smith in the Matrix as they only have basics flight model. :( I made a test a few months ago, as i was suspecting the AI going Afterburners mostly the entire fights as i ended up getting bingo fuel doing same as them, i never tried the F-5 as player, as i do not own the module, i do not know how of a drinker that bird is, but i made the AI start airborn with 1,000 lbs of fuel, as i made it spawn he didn't engaged me cuz he was low fuel (basicly as oer ME) and kept going straight for his base to land, but still, he flown away passed me for about 12 minutes, which out of those 12 minutes, easily 7 minutes with full burners on, i ended up shooting him down, either F-5's doesn'T drink a lot, or AI has unlimited fuel Another « Unsolved Mysteries » TV show case. :) I'd be curious to see how long would a player, starting airborn in a F-5 with 1,000 lbs of fuel, would be able to fly going full burners on. -
What new feature of the Hornet are you most looking forward to?
Doum76 replied to Wags's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I own it since day 1, but i do not use AIM-120's, i find it boring, i rather the fight close and do WVR, but, my personal choice and this is why i avoid public servers as it's mainly what people load up. :) But back to the subjet, only long distance missile i dream of now is the HARM cuz bringing the fight close to a SAM is a bit nasty. -
Glad to hear and that you enjoy it. Yep so i'Ve heard about the Radar, i haven'T done Aie-Air stuff for a while, and i'm more a WVR than BVR type of guy. :( But i am sure they'll work on it quite soon.

Not related to your subjet, but glad to see you finaly made your choice and bought the Hornet until the Tomcat comes out. :)

Even then, that's quite a long list, for Dubai only, there's about 26 Airlines that goes there. 10 airlines (one goes to both places) going to McCarran. So with those maps only he already have a tons of them to be doing, though quite a few of them are done already, so he haven't worked for nothing :) But you know, when you do liveries, you try to always please everyone. Skinner artists are generous people.... i had to stop being generous when i do my liveries. :)

As Dos Gringos says in his song: But i bet it can be frustrating for people that only lives for AIM-120's :) Keep the faith, one day you'll have you working system for your BVR thing, depends where they'll end up in the pool list :S Wonder if they'll ever queue us on what their decision will be. -
Nice job :) Why the fictionnal AC Rouge? It'S close enough to the real A321 :)
-
I'm all F/A-18 cuz it'"s my favorite bird, so i'll just as you a question, are you willing to wait an undetermined amount of time until the Tomcat comes out, after that, how long will it be to become ok, how much updates wil it be, will they be upgrading it a smuch as the Hornet is now, i do not know Heatblur, hoe well do the Vigen asvanced?. By the time the Tomcat will come out, the hornet will be even moew advanced as it is now... So, how long are you willing to wait before flying any of the two? I don't really like the Tomcat anymore, but i can tell you if role were inverted, and the Tomcat was out now and the hornet coming soon, i would fore sure grab the Tomcat for filling the hole... as i did with the AV-8B. But, that's my way to see things. :)

Well, not too sure how to properly work this effet out, normal diffuse map is something i haven't realy explored, but i was able to make it a bit more visible, here's what i meant, section 1 of the video is the default effet, barely visible on screen and mostly not visible in VR, i never realised it was there, so i tried to make something more visible in VR. Not perfect, but i like it better in VR than seing nothing and having the feeling i'm canopy less, i like seing the effet in real footage and adds to the immersion for me.

F/A18E/F Super Hornets block 1 and BLock 2 E/F ( lot 26)
Doum76 replied to Kev2go's topic in DCS Core Wish List
No offence, but if they have to waste years on a module or even a year or even 6 months, you think they will work on another variant of a existing module, or pass those time to work on a new one to please another range of people than just work for F/A-18's fans? The Hornet is my favorite aircraft ever and dreamed about it in DCS since day one i bought DCS in 2009-2010, but i personaly think working on a SuperHornet would be a waste of ressources as they can work on anohter module to please, Viper's lovers, Eagle, Mudhen or even Helicopters fans. But you can dream as long as it makes you happy. But with all modules that came out since last years, besides the old A-10A in FC3 and the A-10C and same will happen to the new F-15, but mainly cuz it was made from FC3 and want a more complete model i presume, they never worked on 2 major variants of the same airframes, but you can keep dreaming :) -
Well as i did my tests loading normal and not VR, i noticed there were there, but simply way too ligh to be seen in VR.

I do get their default scratches/wear, but it's too white, i am trying now to diminish it a bit
-
Nevermind, just found the issue, i presume since a few patches ago the « f18c_cpt-glass_NRM » Texture in the Texture .zip file « FA-18C-CPT-TEXTURES.zip » was a PNG and not a DDS, so saving it as DDS and replacing it made the scratches loaded again.
