  1. Usualy when you say something is available and something is coming soon, and below you list two things, you expect the order are the same, so the first item will be avalable now, and the second coming soon as said in: «Available now in the Open Beta and coming soon» You'd expect the first item listed will be the available now, and the second items will be coming soon, so the confusion came from the fact the Wake info was listed first and the Battle Damage info second. So now read back the news and understand that people getting confused comes from the fact they actualy read it.
  2. To be honest, with Youtube now, anything can be easy to learn, so does applies to DCS and it's module, if you're willing to spend a few minutes here and there and watch videos, with the so many Tutorials out there, you could learn this aircraft from the basics as you want, to the most advanced stuff in a sorta flash. Those videos are free, watch some and you can judge by yourself how hard or easy it is, and then can decide if the bird is for you or not if you should buy or not. Redkite on youtube does quite a few tutorials, Jabbers might as well made some basics videos, and some others guys, go on there and see. It'll be the best way to judge for yourself, as learning, is different to everyone, for some this bird can be the easiest, for others, hard. Or if you like to read Chuckowl does some brilliant PDF guides and explain stuff quites easy.
  3. That comment made me smile. I'm just imaging any of us pure fighter jet fans watching real videos of Hornet drivers, and going to do the process to become fighter pilots, and once getting there, asking for stuff being easier cuz it seemed way easier on videos watched on Youtube. :) If taking the time, reading for tips, watching videos etc.. you realise refueling the Hornet is one of the easiest thing you could ever do in the Hornet, the most easiest aircraft to refuel, but it required to work for it, read, watch videos, read about curves, hardware tips, practice. As per what the OP asked, a sorta 4 feets invisible box around the basket to refuel, jesus, it reminds me in FSX when i tried to refuel the VRS Superbug with a tanker, exactly working like this, you had to stand in an invisible box around the basket, but you didn't know where it was exactly, so refueling was a total piece of crap, i discovered DCS after a while, around 2009-2010, since then i was dreaming of a Hornet and a tanker with physical basket coming to DCS, my dream came live last May, in 2018. And i can tell you, refueling with a basket with physical collision is 20 times way easier, and keeping the connection as well. Give people a 4 feet box, and they'll find a way to even have a hard time to do it, eventualy going to ask 10 feet and finaly, ended up being able to AA refuel 20 nm away from the tanker :)

Doh... How could i forgot this, been away from DCS for too long i presume to forget such a details. Thanks :)
  5. Visual/Manual IFF interogation/response, main system was down? :)
  6. I just wish we were able to set specific arguments for a specific units in the condition/flag menu, we can set a specific unit to have AI off on on, but can tell that unit to turn on their lights on or off. :) Would be so iseful to simply let us do this and ading it with a trigger zone when we get in, they Unis AI turns it lights on or off... The good side of it, we would be able to make it turn the deck's tower on as well, since it's implemented in as it can be turn on in ModelViewer, we never know, with their new carrier stuff annonce lately, maybe they'll let us play around with this. But i am pretty sure, all this as been added to the wish lists section, let's see of the ED Gods listen to us :)
  7. Totaly agree with you, got to say the Hornet is my fav bird ever. My only regret, the Hornet module wasn't released back then in 2015 when i went to the Airshow i was able to sit down ina Hornet, god knows how i woudl had paid much attention and look around to feel the real vs VR feeling. :(
  8. Realy sorry to read this :( Your videos were good references to us virtual pilots wanna-be :( Ahhh now it does makes sens and brings puzzle pieces together as to why the SU-27 and Mig-29 has been a FC3 non-clickable cockpit for ages, so around the world doesn't learn the Russian jets secrets :P DCS is a total conspiracy :)
  9. Crap, we are getting pods with the Hornet now :( Gotta find a way to politely fire the midget wingwalker i hired and tied up over my left wing with a High-Definition camera to act as a pod. :(
  10. Nice, i learn new stuff everyday :) I only had to chance to hear and see Hornets in Real-Life a few times, and didn'T know about that sound, only one i ever heard was the howling, and thought that was the one people in this thread meant to be in DCS, but sounded a bit different which made me thought it was a sound bug playing the wrong sound maybe intented for placeholder, as i often heard the howling i thought of in DCS which sounded different got me wondering. Someone was able to record the howl i thought that most people talked about in this thread ont he below video at 0:23. But again, sticking to a F2 view sound different and can get confusing versus that when it passes over as you hear the sound in non-stop loop, not too often i watch sticky F2 views, specialy from the front point of view.
  11. Which mods always moves stuff in wish list section? Can they at least reply what changed or how to make this happens, i am asking why i cannot get ATC to reply to me with a Request landing to they turn on the damn lights as before it was? This is not anything i am wishing, just asking someone from ED to reply, not simply move a thread in a place no one will reply, please, have the common curtesy to reply when you move stuff around.
  12. @mvsgas, here's a small video that you'll get it a bit better, thogh most of the time i've heard only the sort of properler sound, when i recorded this test, you get to hear both sounds overlapping, and i doupt the sound comes from the Mig-29 behind me :) But i think ED knows about it, as i remember reading something already a while ago on this. You get normal sound then weird sound after in the vid.
  13. k, good to know, though now i need to know how to get the Carrier's light turn on, as it was the way i used before... :)
  14. Hey all, So , not sure if it'S a bug, something new i missed, if it belongs in DCS bugs section or the Hornet'S, since i only fly the Hornet, i can'T really check, so i post on here, flew my first Carrier pattern this morning since i got away from DCS for a few months, as usualy, i most of the time contact the Stenis tower requesting landing in order to get the RNW lights turned on for better view in VR, though this time, once i contact ATC for inboud, it does reply to me all is good, though, i get no more option for Request landing, all i get is Request Azimuth, sometimes the Request LAnding options appears as you get closer to the RNW or insigh, but this time it never happens... Anything changed i missed in the patch notes?
  15. Good thing i found your post, i just did my first carrier pattern after a few months out the sim, and as i was in the groove i've i was about -300ish RoD and on glideslope, i was « euh, am i missing something or what » :)
  16. The sorta Racoon face is also funny when taking off the HMD :)
  17. Two more weeks :) Patience my friend, modules can take quite a few push backs in schedules, we learned with the Hornet, DCS 2.5 as we (specialy i) was waiting for it for a while.
  18. Quite a few things might be done before JDAMs comes in, as per this morning Waggs post (again, these post are more likely roadmap/updates to the Hornet'S upcoming things, not to be confused with patches updates and changelog, so order can change and nothing specified as per when. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3731139&postcount=103
  19. Please, delete this thread.
  20. Tried a few Instant Actions tonight on the Pursian Gulf Map, some BFM or the 2 v 2 with the Migs, no issies at all
  21. Thanks too, appreciate all the replies guys :) Though i already had it and made a setup for VR. :)
  22. Thanks, but yeah as stated there, i always turn it off as most of the time my HSI is either on left DDI for travel, or right DDI for landings so not much maps, though i was being curious, as per change the DDI color, i'Ve tried it a few days ago, but i love haivng default color, only thing i changed was to make the DDI'S black and not green, not realistic as it doesn'T represent the Lot 20 but i like black DDI'S as seen in a few videos and adds more contrast on VR. Sometimes i get bored and try to fool around some sorta mods i guess. :)
  23. You make me jealous man, wish my brain was smarter as you are to understand and to fast use these as flying... i always knew drawing in math classes in highschool would gets me in trouble later. :) But hey, it leads me to graphic designer/digital artist... :) Seriously, i'm so laysy i let the Hornet's computer do all the maths and my eyes to gauge the distance, i simply use the HSI's Cross Track Error Indicator/Perpendicular offset and simply adjust my turn to make sure i'm 1.1-1.2 nm on downwind.
  24. Hey guys, Any of you knows where the actual files are for the moving map on the MPCD? Can'T find them and could be pretty long unzipping all package, knew a while ago where it was, but structure changed so much and i forgot. I wanna make a bit more contrast to the Persian Gulf map since it's the one i mainly fly, and it's way too bright on the MPCD making almost impossible to read, specialy in VR, the MPCD text doesn'T come out much from the map background. Unless there a possibility to play with some alphas for the MPCD specific page which i doubt Thanks
  25. In my own experience, using The Rift, i would never ever fly without VR anymore, no matter if resolution is weak etc as non VR owner keep saying... i don't care, i'm wearing glasses in real life, so i'm used to low resolution and blurry stuff anyways lol. But seriously, using modern aircraft, it's not really that bad, since most important infos appears on your HUD and it's sharp, DDIS is a bit hard but you get used to it, but using older bird like WW2 stuff, which needs to read gauges, might be diffrent, though i can'T say i never tried. The immersion etc is without word, the first time you try it it's like day and night. Requires a bit to adjust, specialy when in need of using the keyboard, but you catch it real fast... of course, the first few dogfight you do is different, i don'T do much exept versus AI's, but now when it'S back on your and you need to find it, wel you literaly need to move around to spot it, not like using TrakIR and moving your head half and inch and your pilot in DCS moves it 90 degrees +. To answer your 2 questions, to become better, maybe in some circumstances, but again, might be tricky a TRackIR player vs a VR player, as i said, one really really work pshycily to find the otehr etc... And per did it changes the game play.... well, let me tell you, imagine you'Re about 10 000 ft up, you'Re in your Hornet, go in for a bomb or straffe run and start going in looking at your left shoulder maybe 45-60 degrees below the aircraft to spot the target, going in for the pop up/pass , as your roll in and inverted you start looking on your left shoulder around 90 degrees, but start moving your head looking up as the ground gets over your head.... now, imagine in VR, having your head tilt a little .5 inch looking a bit left of your screen and keep it this way until you're rolled in for the back and remove your head .5 inch. :) Just watch Mover's video and posted yesterday, look at him go as he tried DCS in VR for the first time and he made in the bottom corner of the screen himself overlapping the sim view, you'll see move around, just looking at this it can explain what i mean by game change, versus looking at a fix front screen. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=227581
