  1. Hi all, This is a bit of a mystery, My DCS MP server has always been slow to refresh and often-time taking a few 'exit to main menu, come back in, refresh' to get the full list. However recently its been getting worse so that I never see the full number of servers and I can't even see my friends servers when they are hosting. I'm patched and up to date and the only way is via Direct IP - but even that is hit and miss and sometimes comes back 'Server Offline' when it clearly isn't. However - I CAN host DCS missions myself - and people can see my server and connect without any issues. I spent 2 hours last night with a squadmate trying to see if it was port forwarding, firewalls etc - but no joy. I'm no PC newb but hesistant to go poking around and break something else so rest of the games/software doesn't work. It used to work fine and I could see servers/connect no problem. Only 2 things have changed: We now use Discord in our squad for comms which weirdly enough trips out and restarts itself when I'm refreshing the server list. Could Discord be using the same ports or something? I share this main PC with my wife - and her work put a VPN on it when the lockdown and working from home began last year. Possible that this is a security setting here blocking some inbound traffic? (other games on Steam or Il2 standalone work fine in seeing MP lobbies - its just DCS). Anyone have any ideas?
  2. Thanks folks - will give these a try. Autotuning is on and just done a Network restart so see if that works. I'm in UK. Can access router setting but I'm loathe to go poking around in the settings just in case I inadvertedely wreck other online games/services (Steam) etc. Just seems to be DCS MP that is the issue - no problems for example in standalone Il-2 BoS.
  3. X-post from main 'Bugs and problems' forum as this seems more appropriate. Been having some issues on MP which seem to be getting progressively worse. Launching DCS for the first time, it seems to take ages to fully populate the server list and requires multiple refreshes, exits from the lobby, exit DCS, starting up DCS again before the whole list of servers finally appears. (Note I am fully up to date with latest DCS version). It gets there eventually and seems to settle down after a go through this, but recently has been getting worse. Last night for example it took the best part of 40mins to refresh/reload, exit, restart and find a friends server - and then when I did find it I had a couple of 'connection lost' messages booting me back out. I can connect directly by IP fine and also hosting myself squadmates can see my server and log-in without any hassle - it just seems to be having trouble picking up all the servers and populating the list. (as well as the odd 'connection lost').

  5. So took the Hornet out last night to check out the spiffy new datalink tracks in the HMD, but noticed that the usual HUD 'shoot' cue seems to be replaced by a 'IN-LAR' message instead when going to AIM-120s. Presumable that stands for 'In Launch Acceptable Range/Region'. Is this an additional HUD message for lofting missiles in BVR, or has it replaced the Shoot cue completely?
  6. Heads up all, So of you may be interested in a new server just launched today from Tim Davies, of Fast Jet Performance aimed at virtual (and real pilots) who want to learn authentic military flying and airmanship from a veteran ex-RAF Fast Jet instructor. Server is DCS Shadowlands with passworded access via his Patreon and their is also a Discord server for comms. https://www.patreon.com/timdavies It IS paid for training with two levels of membership (£10/£37 a month) depending on whether you just want to fly on the server or you want teaching/learning as well and all his knowledge etc. No dog in the fight myself, but I know Tim and if you have seen his excellent FJP videos on YouTube where he runs through Hawk T2 training emergencies etc you'll know he is the real deal and a bloody excellent FJ instructor and teacher. He also did the recent interview with ED's Simon Pearson. He's now gotten into DCS in a big way and this is the next level of interactive training and sharing his 1000s of hours of priceless RAF experience. May not be for everyone on here, but for those who want to fly it 'as real as it gets', understand the basics of flight, or perhaps are looking to get edge in RL pilot selection/training then this could be right up your street. (In fact his interview with Simon P suggested that DCS is already being used by military flight students as a personal training tool to help prep them and learn stuff outside of official courses). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More below info from FJP 'DCS Shadowlands Training Server LAUNCHES 1 NOV 2020 This is the training that you need to become confident on 'Digital Combat Simulator'. *INCLUDES ACCESS TO PRIVATE 'SHADOWLANDS' DISCORD CHANNEL* No, we aren't starting by throwing missiles down range at enemies we don't understand, we'll start off by understanding ourselves and our own limitations and considerable lack of knowledge. This will be done with live briefings, constructive sorties and purposeful debriefs. As a former Hawk T1/T2 flying and tactical weapons instructor in the RAF for over a decade, (plus 1000 hrs on Tornado GR4) - I'll bring the knowledge and help you learn. It's a team gig, we are there together. No pressure, this is a 'safe learning zone' and we'll start with the standard map to keep costs down. Buy the Hornet, it's a good learning jet because we can work the systems before moving onto more complex aircraft. Join the FJP Shadowlands Flight School - because we do it the right way. 7. Hey Bananimal Actual River Rattlers pilot loves your work with the actual aircraft he flew and wants to thank you.... He's C W. Lemoine
  8. Rarely post on here but just finished Vulcan Forge and a huge BZ (Bravo Zulu) of thanks to Sedlo for creating such a highly immersive, realistic and well-thought out campaign. Perfect difficulty gradient for those 'newish' to the Harrier with a good test of skills and weaponeering - with plausible storyline and threats. Excellent stuff - 10/10 - would Forge again! Can't wait to try your Harrier Casacsus campaign! More please!
  9. I deserve it, as my Dad (who is a keen simmer) has had a rough year this year - this would definitely make his Xmas.
  10. Hello all, Not sure whether this should be in here, or in the VEAO forum... Picked up the Hawk a while back from the VEAO website. About the time that it was fully released as a beta + integrated, I had a weird message on the SP login that said something like 'incorrect license number found' in red. However weirdly - clicking past it it went away and it would still let me play/fly the Hawk and other aircraft -as well as use the module manager. I just assumed it was some harmless glitch to do with the Hawk being a non-DCS module at that point. But, a couple of days ago I bought the Piecing Fury A-10C campaign (via DCS website) and now find that this licensing issue won't let me log-in and d/l my paid-for campaign. Checking the license no. error that popped up at the login with my codes, it appears to be for the Hawk. However, using the 'Check license' on the DCS website - the user/name is not my nickname and is written in red. Has my Hawk somehow been transferred to another user? And how do I get Piecing Fury to d/l? (All this is standalone DCS BTW - not Steam version.)
  11. Might be of interest to some here... A declassified US flight manual from 1955 on the MiG-15bis (PDF) http://www.governmentattic.org/14docs/MIG-15pilotOpManual_1955.pdf According to this https://medium.com/war-is-boring/stranded-behind-enemy-lines-steal-a-mig-b522e54234f6 the info was provided as a possible way of escaping enemy territory...
