  1. When you finish Shooting Gallery for the 5th time that day and decide to eject all remaining stores and see how high you can get "hello coffin corner!". Diving straight down from 38,000' with full power to see how long you can last before breaking up...
  2. Aircraft dont like going to sleep... they were born to fly!!!! :) Agree with both of the above.
  3. Check your loadout and fuel quantities... coming back from a mission you are significantly lighter then going straight in for a landing fully loaded in free flight. If that is a possibility then you need to increase your approach speed a little according to how heavy you are. Wind is also gonna be a factor. I'm not sure if gusty conditions are modelled... i'm still pretty new to all this! :) Again if there are gusty conditions, increasing your approach speed until coming over the threshold will help reduce the possibility of your airspeed becoming dangerously low if a headwind drops off. If its gusty then you'll just have to work that throttle like the real pilots do! :pilotfly:
  4. Bugger. Read this post 2 days too late :(
  5. I know when NWS is disco'ed it becomes like a caster wheel, free moving. Would cross wind be the cause of the wheel to veer left or right? If no input is made from stationary to take off roll then I guess it would want to caster into wind due to the weather cock effect on the rudder surface. (Wind from right pushes on rudder surface to swing nose right into wind, therefore castering nose wheel will point into direction of swing and wind.) I guess only ED could comment as to how its all actually modelled. Anyhooo... just a thought. :)
  6. Sci-Fi anyone? :robot: How about a Terminator Salvation California environment... http://warisboring.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/3096823111_346c057b0e_o.jpg A nice skin to model the TSA-10... http://www.impdb.org/images/9/9f/TSA-10_2.jpg Maybe a new pilot skin to model Moon Bloodgood too? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/Moon_Bloodgood_in_A-10_cockpit_at_Kirtland_AFB_during_filming_of_Terminator_Salvation_2008-07-18.JPG :) A few of these to shoot down... http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/terminator_salvation_conceptart_7_m.jpg A few of these roaming around... :spam_laser: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y5TwdoOLPTI/SRtKV6L7cVI/AAAAAAAAERM/KHY2t-ZtZGE/s400/terminator111208b.jpg Would be very cool to have a bit of ultra realism in a Sci-Fi setting! Just a thought... ;)
  7. You never stop learning in aviation and as this sim is so accurate the same can be said in the virtual aviation environment. In terms of being at a point where I could use systems and weapons in a way where I didn't have to reference the internet or manuals, it took about 2 weeks... but I had a lot of spare time and I've only scratched the surface!!! :) STILL SO MUCH TO READ AND LEARN!!! Just enjoy the journey to Ace pilot. I know I will get there one day... (give me a few years ;) )
  8. Agreed! The sim is just a piece of art and you'll love it regardless of what input controllers you have... just my personal opinion on the TM Warthog HOTAS. It just added an added enjoyability factor on top of an already great program. As the above already said... read, practise then read again! Remember... its no fun unless your eyes are bleeding ;)
  9. YEAH!!! Good choice!!! When you really get involved with this sim you'll wish you forked out a little extra and gone for the TM Warthog HOTAS. I guarantee you'll get that stick in time... and frankly I recommend it as all the controls are exactly the same as an a-10. (Assuming you get into this sim... I'm sure you will!) Its totally plug and play too so no need to spend hours programming. Welcome to the club Sir! (P.S. Still go and buy Black Shark too when you get some spare cashish! Have fun!)
  10. The missions I downloaded from the DCS website are dominated by .ogg file extensions and no .miz extensions so was kinda loast as to what to do with those. Had a poke around in the DCS directories to find no other .ogg files. Any thoughts? Thanks
  11. Some nice docs here as well as the manuals http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60293 Enjoy!
  12. Could someone link me to where I can see how to add missions etc that I've downloaded from DCS... Had a look around and having trouble locating. Thanks in advance!
  13. When I was learning to fly my instructor told me to "push the head, pull the tail" Its exactly what you've described but in a handy little ditty to remember. Flying towards the needle tracking point puts the head of the needle near the top of the instrument. To move it left, fly right of it and "push the head (of the needle)" onto the desired course. Flying away from the needle tracking point puts the tail near the top of the instrument. To move it left, fly left of it and "pull the tail" onto the desired course. Handy if you need to track out from a target on a specific radial or course from it. "Push the head, Pull the tail" - Also works in the bedroom... wish my girlfriend would take my advice though. :director:
  14. I use: Deadzone 0 Saturation 100 Curve 20 I find the curve setting allows a little more movement in the joystick before you reach the aircrafts limits... I just like waggling my stick about more! :)
