ah that's what it probably is, thanks! I installed dcs world, then Black shark 1 then started dcs world so I could activate my key before installing the bs version 2 update. No I don't have the mig module...just a-10, black shark and huey.

All I get is the updater dialog which does not seem to actually update, thena command prompt box which disappears immediately, and that's it. Tried the repair, didn't change anything. any help appreciated. Non steam version, win8.1

ok thanks...so if I dl dcs world from the ED website it'll work from within the app? or will I have to download anything else separately?

Hi, so a long time back I bought black shark on d2d...then bought the upgrade to bs2 on the ED shop. It was a little bit of a hassle to get it to install and work, but since that time I got a new pc. Now I am trying to install it again, so I used steam to install dcs world...and of course, black shark isn't showing up in there. Any idea what I got to do? I got my serial numbers all ready...is there a link I can download the files from manually perhaps? Same issue actually for UH-H1, I bought that as well and it isn't showing up. Would love to use my steam dcs world since I also have A-10..and I bought that from steam, and that IS showing. Any advice appreciated.

Yeah I have the zoom mapped - I am using a profile for my hotas warthog that I found I think in this forum. I am getting shot by bullets. I can hear the impacts. But I am surprised that convoy hunt is a more advanced mission. tbh at first I thought it had no threats to me from the briefing. Imagine my surprise being shot at! However, going very high is actually intriguing. I never thought about that - why should I stay low. I might as well go high. Not hovering though at that altitude I take it? I guess I should look around for some easier missions then to start off with? oh and btw, i do have a wingman in convoy hunt. I just have no idea yet how you communicate with your wingman - or anyone for that matter. I am not really used to actual communication in sims...most I dealt with is the ATC in FSX.

great advice all, but...my two main problems is finding targets - any at all - and secondly, in a mission such as convoy hunt you can't take your time - if you do the convoys leave the area... I mean, even if I get shot at - I turned invulnerability on just to see once so I could just sit there and take my time - I still can't see/find what is shooting at me at times. got all settings up high, and i believe I got the shkval stuff at 1024 (but not every frame).

there are labels I can turn on? OMG...I never even thought about that. I guess that would help :) Still wondering how those pros would do it - or how it's done in real life. I mean I understand using the terrain for cover, and staying below radar alt. and stuff...yet, still, since I don't know where any threats are, how do I know what terrain is cover? So yeah. Oh yeah, funny story but I'm also having the exact same problems in the warthog...only in that I usually get shot down by SAMs and not AA - at least I am assuming these are what shoots me down. well, in any case, danke schoen!

Hi, while I am now able to take off, fly around, come to a hover (somewhere near where I planned) and land and have figured out how to engage targets via Vhikr, I am having problems with target aquisition and threat evaluation. Take mission convoy hunt for instance. I can fly to the area, put the machine into a hover and take out the north convoy. But then...I usually don't find any of the other 2 convoys, and if I move further into the area I get shot down very quickly without ever even seeing who is shooting at me? I am not flying very high, or fast. In fact, moving towards the objective I have to take care not to hit the power lines. So where do I go? Beginner stuff I am already past, so what's next? How do I learn battlefield survival?

How do i even know which version I am having - or how do i get a different one? TBH this is my first time with the gamefly thing - and I am not impressed, have to be honest.

the serial number manager thing only shows the serial for the BS2 upgrade.

Is there any way to get support on this issue? I don't even mind spending the $10 more, but at this point I am looking at a purchased BS2 upgrade that is not working and that i am getting no support on whatsoever. I have added a support ticket and there is -=no=- movement on it whatsoever. Starting to be a rather disappointed customer.

Actually, one more quick question. how long am i supposed to wait for support to even acknowledge my ticket? because I am seriously considering to just retracting the payment - at this point I am considering the upgrade as not working, and I don't want to wait for months to get value for the money i've already given.

I'll give these a shot when i get home today. Although I am at a point where it's really not worth my time anymore...I've spent way too much time on this already. And if response to my ticket is slow enough I might be done with DCS altogether...with wife and child I get little time already for gaming, I really don't want to spend it watching a progress bar installing things over and over. What a shame...

Well I deactivated and reactivated and it's still the same. I am still told that BS1 needs to be installed and activated...Which it is because I just done it. This is quite ridiculous tbh. I hope someone answers my support ticket eventually. I guess I should have spent $10 more but then again, this should not be so difficult. I do really appreciate the help though. I'd love to fly, and actually would get the Huey beta in a heartbeat but right now I am not so sure. I am somewhat weary of even trying to get my A-10 install from steam to work in dcs world...

Thanks, I'll do that. Is it crucial to install BS1 as admin? Lastly, what about the udpate...I've heard rumors to can't have that installed when trying to upgrade? Almost done with work so I get to try it out soon ;)

I think it should be - I have been using the same email address for years now. However, if this is bound in any other way - user name or whatnot; then it's possible. Question though - can I simply reset them both to make sure rather than tracking down what they were?

Do I need to have BS1 installed into DCS WOrld (I am assuming have DCS World as parent folder for the BS install) for it to let me upgrade to BS2?
