  1. This is what happens when you pay in full for something that isn't finished. I am fully against this business model, but most of you "throw money at the screen" as soon as yet another EA module is announced. You didn't even really need Razbam or VEAO to see this, ED's own modules are probably never going to be fully complete either, yet you purchase hoping for what?

Check what state the module is in, if you're happy with it buy it, otherwise wait longer. That's the harsh reality.

  2. Whenever I enter waypoint or tgt coordinates manually via the UFC, the last digit is automatically changed by -1.

E.g. if I input MGRS coordinates e.g. 1234512345, when i click ENT ont he UFC, the last digit instead of 5 is turned into a 4, and it becomes 1234512344

In order to enter as I want, I need to enter it as 123451234which will be turned into 1234512345.

The same happens with decimal-minutes-seconds coordinates, except there it's more erratic and it seems impossible to enter exactly the number I want, because it just won't accept certain numbers and jumps to +- 2 decimals.

EDIT see screenshots. in this example it is IMPOSSIBLE to enter the number 5, as you hit ENT on the UFC it turn the 5 into a 4.
It does the same with other numbers as well.

    @RAZBAM_ELMO can you please check?

  3. been experiencing regular crashes where logs are not created (it creates empty zip files).

The game freezes, the sound continues to be heard as if nothing happened.
Once it even froze, gave me the small dialog saying it crashed but I waited and after a while it "unfroze" and I could play for a further 10 minutes or so until it CTD directly to desktop.

here's what I have + a log from an older crash that seemsdcs.log-20240104-154551.zip to open correctly

    dcs.log

  4. Maybe after the next EA modules that have recently been announced, they will focus on the weather system (and the ATC, and the AI, and finishing the older EA modules etc..)

  5. Wake turbulence in general is greatly exaggerated in DCS as reported multiple times. If that affects the burble or not I don't know, but I've turned it off completely.
It would be a great feature if implemented correctly instead of being the usual half-baked mess that is slapped in and labelled [correct as is].

Why, it is off-topic. G-tolerance is being looked at, but doesn't have anything to do with the topic (FM). Thanks.

Yeah I don't disagree, some people above were talking about g tolerance and I think that's a good piece of info, but agree this should be discussed separately.
It is an important part of achieving best performance in the Viper though, as others have said.

EDIT: @BIGNEWY added sources and links

@NineLine I added some extra info you guys may find useful. Maybe you can break out that post into its own topic or just pass it to the team. Thx

  7. I will leave this here:

"Since the 1983-84 modification of the USAFSAM centrifuge to provide high G-onset rates and subject-in-the-loop control, another 741 TAC aircrew have received high-G centrifuge training at USAFSAM, all in the F-16-configured seat. Only two of the 741 did not complete the 8-G, 15-s G profile during the scheduled training session, and only 44 did not complete an additional 9-G, 15-s profile (99.7 and 94.1% success rates, respectively)."

IRL F18C above 45k lbs at Catapult launch, MAX power is the only option

Yes, above 45k. in DCS at any weight you are now it forces you to be in full AB. I don't know where this idiotic idea came from, but I sure hope it's changed back to what it was.

  9. So it looks like unless you are in full afterburner, it's not possible to salute and initiate the catapult launch.

F-18s IRL did not usually need afterburner for take off.

Also, once in full afterburner and the salute is given, you lose control of the throttle until after you are airborne, and for a few seconds after than.
    This can't be right.

they can be removed IRL, that is the reason that weight and drag index are mentioned in the manuals.

Also you must add the weight of the pilot. (~180lb)

    TIL!
I have actually never seen a picture of a AV8B without pylons.
If they can be removed why don't we have this option in DCS, like we do with other airplanes?

You mean on 2.8 ? I just updated the laptop to 2.9 aswell now. But its no use to compare it to 2.8 as ED stated the onset in 2.8 was wrong. If thats the case you compare 2.9 with the wrong 2.8 version. My test was only about finding out how the new (no matter if "improved" to the better or worse) onset behavior of the Viper is now and how we might need to adapt to it for dogfighting.

yeah i meant 2.8 but pay attention to what I wrote, I am not interested in the onset, but in the opposite: how long it takes to go from 9 g back to 1g when you stop pulling.

This is way off compared to all aircraft, and very different from that other high fidelity F-16 sim...

    @Grodign thanks for confirming.

Regarding the other point I raised, just do this test:

    - fly at 500 kts, bank 90 degrees and pull up to 9 gs.

    - quickly center the stick and leave it there

    - how long does it take for the plane to go from 9 back to 1g?

    - how many degrees has it continued to turn after you centered the stick?

@darkman222 can you please test the above routine like you did in the videos you posted?
