  1. IIRC(Haven't tried it myself) There is some workaround about deleting or renaming one of the dustcloud or smokecloud files...(can't remember name)

Back to the very first post (I lost track of the purpose of this thread a while ago :D) Agree for "large" offsets*, as demo'd in P1KW's video, I would be curious what happens if you trim to that hover around 0:45, and when you start transition you don't trim right way, wait until you've "stabalized" to whatever heading etc.(i'll attempt if noone else can tomorrow when i'm back home) *I will concede that that large offset may be caused by the AP, I can't speak to whether this is a bug or not. I"m also a trim press and holder so YMMV(understand this puts you into a "FD on" type of setting, if even only while holding). Map it!!(or VAC it or whatever :D) The only time i'm on non FD is enroute on a long leg when i'm focused more on setting up Abris or Tgt points in the pvi. When I do get jumped unexpectedly I press and hold trim, yank and bank in non FD until i have enough time to get to FD on. That or get FFB
  9. Referring to this guy? (not saying it is on with 100% certainty but) how do you know FD isn't on? "No hud indication". I'd say can't tell either way because the hud is different from ours (attitude indicator is "upside down"). Doveman, I was able to duplicate the tap T to make the virtual joystick move without input while on the ground video only after I dropped my deadzone on my joystick to 0. I usually have Deadzone 5 Sat 100 Sat 100 Curve 20 on both x and y Which makes me think the issue is a recentering issue more than need a new trim method ;unless you want the "hold the stick foward to continue to add trim values", at which point I'd say you'd be better off with FFB.

Re: youtube video, just to confirm you are only pressing T on the keyboard to induce the stick movement on the ground? I'll see if I can be "bothered" to take a look at your tracks on tuesday Also, I misread how you wanted to implement trim. I see now that you want to be able to hold the stick forward and still continue to trim additional input. While your "center stick button" or "nullify stick input button" idea seems logical, as noted by others I do not think the 50 is going to get much if any attention from ed besides compatibility updates. Besides the ability to rapidly tap additional input with a stick held forward(for example) into the trim, what benefit would I get from using your method? Why could I not get this same input solution via press and hold trimming? FD On, or recenter trimming? May be I'm using trim in a different approach then you are, which makes me not see the need. Again, if I'm aggressively maneuvering FD goes on, and trim isn't even necessary(well almost...). Then I'll FD trim to a semi stable attitude and turn FD off, at which point i'm trimmed pretty well, or will only need slight retrimming, via tap recenter, but both methods "work" on my pc i just prefer the recenter. My point was there are two trim methods, which are valid ways of getting the helicopter to let you fly hands free. FFB stick and assuming the bugs are fixed in the next patch then you don't have to worry about the physical stick not matching the virtual... edit: can you confirm the situation happens without the blue cockpit?

  12. You can also adjust FOV in snapviews or view.lua (i forget which). I.e. I need to do this with an eyefinity setup.

  14. Awesome worked for me. So basically lesson to learn is don't use auto, point nose at target and wind is not a factor. Will have to try tomorrow in a hurricane :D
  15. Gotcha, only thing i can think of would be to get closer and hit while on the move. But that's risky in and of itself. Not really sure, don't think I have enough experience in windy situations for any other ideas.
  16. Are you saying you can't engage E/W because the FLOT is E/W? I.e. friendly troops in path of engagement? You don't want to accidentally hit friendlys with an errant shot? If so, my interpretation is you try to reduce the likely hood that you engage on the same vector, but if the tactical situation does not allow for a safer shot then sometimes you have to take it. Other than that, get closer to the target??(may or may not be a good idea :D) Brainstorming: Any idea if shooting higher/lower in altitude would reduce the affect of the wind?
  17. Wish I would have known about that earlier!! I use an apc40+bomes midi translator to map shortcuts...unfortunetly BMT doesn't seem to map right vs left shift correctly, so I manually updated some combos...might have to revert and fix it this way.
  18. It's because you didn't uncage your SADI :D Agree with the prior posts, I think the wind is too much. Attached, checked direction from pvi*, flew upwind and didn't have nearly as much problem...though the bird was unruly. *Mentioned above, remember PVI will show at mission start wind speed, not necessarily true, as it stands right here right now wind. If you watch the vanes off the nose of the chopper you can see them cocked pretty hard to the right as you're beginning to attack the first target. I took over right after you shkvaled the first guy. Edit: Bushmanni Are you referring to fly up/downwind to engage, or to simply point the chopper into the wind? If the later I could not get this technique to work.   19. uncage it, and then when it gets out of whack, right click and hold to reset to "level" edit, i use it more often then the non-standby one because it's in my fov...but yeah haven't really really had a reason to use it(yet)
  20. Sorry Kaktus, I was implying towards a ka50 being able to go head 2 head with any fast mover. I agree to your point the mission in general needs to have balance. @Watari I understand your frustration with public MP, but you have to remember its a crap shoot of what experience you get each time you log in. There are times where there's not a single person communicating, and usually it sucks. I just try and focus on a particular skill in those instances, that I need to improve. But then it makes it that much more enjoyable when you do get a few to work together. Had an amazing(although drunk) time last night on the 104th with an F-15 providing cap, su going sead and a flight of 50's cleaning up ground. Would I say the 50 is losing it's magic? Not at all IMHO.
  21. While I agree to an extent, I'm sure the mission had at least one fast mover for them to take. The cold hard facts are they went into a mission area and got hit without top cover. I just don't want people to start going "I got killed, it was the mission designers fault" right away. It's a simulation, not a game, balance doesn't have any weight.:D Edit: Also, I'm not implying that you have to "leave a server if you have no top cover". I use those times to try and practice the previously mentioned "hide and slow seek" tactics and get to my objectives with out the fast movers detecting me. BTW, I only fly the ka50, so I do feel the pain. But at the same time, find your strengths, be aware of your weaknesses.

  23. Not quite sure what you're asking Its a 3d model, you just don't get the clickability and 6DOF cockpit(among other things) posts 4 and 5 in regards to snapviewsdefault and/or view.lua will/should work
