Abgemacht.

Also am 14.04.

    Was hilft?
    1) Anfixen.

Besteht Hoffnung?

  4. Is there by now a way to use Leap Motion in 2D mode, not just in VR?

I don't do VR, and while the controller works if I force DCS into VR mode, that's obviously not entirely ideal for actual use.

If there's a mod/workaround (in lack of official 2D support) that'd be most excellent. 🙂

After seeing the video on YT linked below I get the impression it only works with VR in DCS?

Correct, DCS currently (as far as I know) requires DCS to run in VR mode in order to activate the Leap Motion. And then there's this:

I was thinking of this mode and having it placed in-front of monitor facing up so you could reach out over the LP and move the mouse cursor and click buttons "in the air" so to speak.

That'd be sweet - and indeed: The Leap controller and the TrackIR camera work in parallel and do not interfere with each other (I've tried it, both in the control programs and in DCS itself). If you use a normal 2D monitor (no VR headset) and force DCS to run in VR mode, you can, in fact, use both Leap Motion and TrackIR together - not that it were useful, because rendering the left/right eye viewports besides each other on a normal screen is (literally) unplayable. But that's not due to the Leap or TrackIR, just a result of DCS requiring VR for Leap.

Unless ED allows for Leap Motion to be used in 2D that won't work. Alternatively, if someone knows about a tool that can force DCS VR mode into pancake mode (I am aware that this sounds extremely silly, and generally it is!) or unlocks Leap in 2D, it could be made to work.

Unfortunately I do not think such workarounds exist - if they do, please let me know, I'd love to use them, too! 🙂

  6. I'm mostly digging up this old thread in hope of a change/workaround during the last two years.

Maybe someone knows of a tool or tweak to use Leap Motion in 2D mode?

Do you mean I must have a VR device when I want to use it?

Yep, well, at least for all practical purposes. Technically, you can make DCS run in VR mode (even with only a 2D screen, with no VR headset) with the start option  --force_enable_VR, and then you can enable and use the Leap Motion controller. However, without a VR headset, that will show the left and right eyes' viewports side by side, which doesn't do any good - so it is not a feasible workaround.

I think you just found a bug. Just tested and it looks like the marker beacons are not being received, even though they had been working previously. Will add to buglist. ILS is still functional, though.

    What's my reward? 😄

I think he stated before that anyone who points out a bug gets a free copy of DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle when it is released! 😄

If I agreed, would that make the F-15E more or less likely as the next DCS module on the community's guess list? 🙂

So uhm now that the F-15E is open for preorder... where is their reward? 😅

  8. seems some people in old times were complaining about that because with 2 A-10 fully loaded with Maverics and MK-20 Rockeyes or other Cluster bombs only you destroy the runway and the taxiway with one pass

It's Digital Combat Simulator, not coffee with in-laws simulator. War is by design unfair and unbalanced, unless both sides do it wrong. MP gameplay balance is not a consideration here. In a simulator, real-world data and capabilities are what makes a feature, and after that available (read: funded) dev time. If the simulator sucks you'll have to ask God for a universe reboot (or not play the game, ahem, simulator).

It seems like either the A-10 cannot carry those munitions, or there is not enough time on EDs end to properly implement the feature. Alas, it is not there.

  9. I'm pretty surprised that there's still so much interest in this.

As the guy who made the youtube video on it* I see this as a neat and fun trick to do and, first of all, a good exercise on how to use the CDU. Nothing more, nothing less.

*(not that that gives me any authority, there are so many people who know so much more than me)

  10. Re the video in #18:

That guy has a weird climbing style. It seems like he often has his arms extended and swings his body around his hands... resulting in funny center of gravity movements and balancing. The second video was much more relaxing to watch.

Edit: I figured that that's probably due to the position of the helmet camera. It sits considerably above his eyes, changing the perspective enough to make me uneasy.
