  1. Any more thoughts on the XR4 for DCS and/or SteamVR PC games? I'm looking into one.
  2. I cancelled my Bigscreen order when I found out the panels can only handle 90 Hz with dynamic screen compression at only 1920x1920 resolution. Then up-scaled by the panels to 2560x2560. I hate fuzzy up-scaled images, and 75 Hz is too low for me in VR. 90 Hz has always been the minimum for VR, even with the original Oculus Rift. Not going to run a measly 75 Hz to get the full 2560x2560. Add on top the glare, low brightness and poor edge clarity. I'm going to wait for the Somnium or Deckard.
  3. Yikes the seats on these rigs seem like really cheap foam Chinese gamer seats from Alibaba. I think when I built my setup I will use a high quality automotive seat.
  4. Never understood having a moving seat yet having the displays/monitors stationary. Seems like it would be even more unrealistic.
  5. Yup, why I returned my Crystal. Even with its resolution and glass lenses, only the cockpit looked clear. Outside world and other planes etc looked really low resolution. And the aliasing of wires/towers and flicker was super annoying. I moved to Samsungs top of the line QN95C 65" 144 Hz 4K display for my sim pit and haven't looked back with regards to VR. IMO as a real pilot, the VR "in cockpit" feel I think is more impressive for non-pilots to experience but the novelty wore off on me quick. Wasn't worth all the negatives.
  6. I still play a few room-scale VR games. And plus it literally being 1/10th the weight of the Crystal, should be much easier on my neck for that.
  7. Returned the Crystal and await the Bigscreen Beyond. But DCS external world looks pretty terrible in VR even with the Crystal and top settings, so going back to flat screen with a 65" 4K OLED and GrassMonkey. Not to mention the poor FOV in VR. The 3D feeling of being "in the cockpit" isn't worth all the negatives for me versus the comfort and clarity of 2D. Having to look down in the cockpit so much, the Crystal was just a neck killer. And I already have a worn out neck after a career as a Army helicopter pilot.
  8. Cannot wait to get mine. Replacing a Crystal.
  9. Had the MFG Crosswinds, felt they were totally over-rated. Have the Thrustmaster TPR but may try the Slaws.
  10. So I've been bouncing back and forth between my Pimax Crystal and 4K monitor.. and something has stood out at me. Keeping the same graphical settings, 4K monitor at 4K resolution, and Crystal at 100% native resolution. On the 4K monitor, both the cockpit and the outside world (ground, buildings, other airplanes) look clear crisp and detailed. But with the Crystal in VR, the cockpit is super clear but the outside world (ground, buildings, other airplanes) look like poo. Flickering, popping textures, low resolution, fuzzy aircraft etc. What am I missing? System in sig.
  11. Ok I just put on the Crystal and moved the IPD to its lowest setting. It's 58mm. That will work with your 57mm IPD. As for FOV yes, that was a big disappointment the first time I put the Crystal on. You're not going to have anywhere near the 8kX field of view, even with the new lenses, but then again the 8kX has a ton of issues in itself and isn't that clear. The central vision clarity of the Crystal is a sight to behold... and once the foveated rendering is sorted, will make for a MUCH better headset.
  12. System RAM and PCI-E bus speeds have literally nothing to do with one another.
  13. Not sure what your IPD question is. It works fine, although manually at the moment with a button. Auto IPD in a future update. FOV is quite disappointing. It's about Valve Index size, which isn't anything to write home about. I'm going to give a full synopsis later today after I play a few more games.
  14. Oh god that's ancient haha. I think I have sigs turned off.
  15. Titan what? I have a 4090 running 3000 MHz.
  16. Crystal has to run a MASSSSSIIIVVEEE inverse distortion compensation resolution of 3232x3824 per eye, or over 12 megapixels. Meaning your PC has to drive over 24 megapixels at 90 FPS or higher to get that clarity. Basically means even with an overclocked 4090 you have to run your games on potato graphics. This is the biggest problem I'm running into, is always having to play at 45 FPS with motion interpilation which sucks.
  17. The clarity on the Crystal is amazing... just trying to curb the stutters in VR which drive me crazy. Any tips?
  18. I ordered a USB Dongle to try and get my Index controllers working with the Crystal. The Crystal controllers are epically bad. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B95LRH7Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  19. I really really hate these Crystal controllers. The tracking is the worst I've ever seen in VR and none of the buttons map to games properly. Any suggestions? Any way to get my Index controller and lighthouses to work independently?
  20. Upgraded my 7950x to 7950x3D and DCS MT is screaming! Running CCD0 at 5250 MHz and CCD1 at 5800 MHz.
  21. Oh thank god, don't want no stinking plastic lens.
  22. Ugg, Pimax sent me Fedex shipping notification and a day later says cancelled. What the heck is going on over there.
  23. Lol that guy is a "VR Chat" guy. He's going to prioritize everything opposite a sim person. Like my Asian girlfriend critiquing a Ferrari's driving dynamics.
  24. Why wouldn't someone just go with new for a few Euro more? lol free bump.
