  1. Especially if you take into account that ED is going also torwards casual gamers it doesn't make sense to confront them with a simple mission generator. At least Belsimtek added a nicely scripted campaign.
  2. I would rather pitch in money for a Dynamic Campaign Kickstarter than for another aircraft. As discussed in many parts of this thread - it doesn't have to be perfect but just enough to provide the immersion of that stuff is going on and actions make a difference.
  3. Interview mentioning Dynamic Campaigns - any chance ever? I know this has been discussed before, but after reading an Interview on RockPaperShotgun.com I'm wondering if there are any plans ever to bring some life to DCS? All DCS modules on their own are really high-fidelity, but the "world"" feels actually pretty empty - even in many multiplayer scenarios. I used to play a lot of Falcon (BMS, Allied Forces, ...) and although with all the limitations of their dynamic campaign and technology it created a pretty solid illusion that stuff is going on around you and your actions have an impact on subsequent missions. Flying down to the AO - seeing units moving, engaging, tracers flying around, other packages engaging, hearing radio chatter, getting slots assigned by the ATC, orbited, etc. ... felt .. simply more realistic and not isolated as it is in DCS. Talking about ATC - Today almost no one is using ATCs because they simply don't work quite right.
  4. As far as I have read Semi-Auto just selects the program slot according to defined threats. It is hard-coded in a config file (don't know where that is). It is not very "intelligent" or modeled according to the real counter-measure system.
  5. Yes - I meant heavy flare not chaff  So besides manually switching between programs and activating the program there is no other way to quickly fire away flares? Im asking because in the Falcon F-16 you could manually fire flare/chaff - don't know if that was realistic at all?!
  6. Most of the time I had my CMS in Auto or Semi-Auto mode. After a while I got fed up by the system deploying for instances chaffs although I was out of range or not automatically switching to a heavy flare program while being pursued by a missile. So now I create my own programs. -) One for deploying preemptively deploying chaffs while being tracked -) One where I deploy chaffs and flares in certain intervals when making a run in on targets -) One heavy chaff program when I know I got something on my tail My question is how do you guys quickly switch between those programs in manual mode? Is there any way to quickly switch programs or even manually deploy for instance chaffs (overriding the current program)?
  7. Hi, My machine is getting a little slow for DCS nowadays and it seems the main bottleneck is the CPU. My current config is: 2,30 gigahertz AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core ASUS M3N78 4GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 6850 1 GB DDR RAM It seems that my mainboard supports, with a BIOS update, a AMD Phenom II X4 980 (just $ 100,--). Does it make sense or would you go straight for this upgrade package: AMD FX-8320 MSI AM3+ AMD 970A-G43 8GB Ram
  8. I played around with the settings in the UH-1 weapons training mission. None of them delivered a performance gain. I understand that my CPU seems to be a bottleneck (noticed that in A-10 context earlier). However, I don't get the CPU issue in this particular case. Looking at units is a performance drop. Looking away from units doubles the FPS. I also noticed that when 1 unit is in view FPS is ok - if there are multiple in view FPS drops more than half. That must have something to do with rendering objects which in turn should be done over the graphics card and not the CPU!?!?
  9. Yes - forgot to say: Windows 7 64bit
  10. Hi, I haven't started DCS (A-10) for maybe one or two patches and now got back as I purchased UH-1. On an empty map (no units) I get between 25-30fps even in dense environments (e.g. cities, airports, ...). Now when I have a couple of units, such as at the end of UH-1 first campaign mission or in the UH-1 weapons training my fps drop to 5-10fps. If I look away from the units the fps jumps back to 25-30fps. Any idea what I could tweak?? My system: 2,30 gigahertz AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core, 4 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 6850 1 GB DDR RAM My settings: Textures: Medium Scenes: Medium Civ Traffic: Off Water: Low Visib Range: High Heat Blur: Off Shadows: Low Resolution: 1920x1200 Aspect Ratio: 16:10 Monitors: 1 Screen Res. of Cockpit: 512 MSAA: 2x HDR: Off Clutter/Bushes: 0m Tree Visibility: 2223 Preload Radius: 80876
  11. so everyone places objects on a trial and error basis? Is there any other trick?
  12. Hi, This might have been asked before but I couldn't find anything with search. Is there a way to show the ground textures in the mission editor? This is especially helpful when I want to place units/objects inside certain ground texture elements such as for instance a very bright field. Thanks!
  13. Hi, Just received a promotion mail from DCS about a summer: DCS: Black Shark 2 - $15.99 DCS: Black Shark 2 Upgrade – $11.99 What exactly is the difference between Black Shark 2 and Black Shark 2 Upgrade?
  14. I was actually referring to the Phoenix server as well having the Cockpit-less View disabled. Very annoying.
