  1. Oh wow, Riva TNT series, man that brings me back. Haha. That was the first video card I ever purchased. Followed by a Voodoo3 card just so I could play Freespace. Not long after that I found this cool sim called Flanker... Oh such wonderful nostalgia! Anyway, back to topic, I also recommend Nvidia. I had two AMD/ATI cards before and always had issues and sub-par performance. I also like the added benefit of things like PhysX and CUDA. I know AMD is trying to play catch-up, but Nvidia has the clear lead in offloading processes to a GPU. (Minus bitcoin mining like Skatezilla mentioned.)
  2. Congrats to the winners! Happy holidays everyone!
  3. Thanks for the Opportunity Cichlidfan! I'd like to enter for the Hawk!
  4. One thing to add: As I understand it, if you use Nate's method above you might think you did not remove any trees since you would see them around an airport or town (those trees are built in to the airport's mesh), but you wouldn't have the randomized trees that pepper the landscape. So it may seen as if the trees were still there at first. Correct me if I'm wrong?
  5. Ha! Well put. And while I agree... DCS's attention to detail and realism is where the sim shines. Pulling off a flight perfectly and accomplishing mission goals and returning safely give an incredible feeling of accomplishment. ...but every once in a while a healthy dose of alcohol and insane aerobatics is the ticket. I agree with Skatezilla though, please don't show up to a multiplayer server and expect jet ramming to be acceptable, or enjoyable. It will instead be frowned upon harder than ever recorded in the history of frowning. To the OP: Nice surgical maneuvering. :)
  6. Hahaha. Yeah, I just checked my icon and of course I've got the same default image. Time to go change that.
  7. I ran the update utility and it updated fine. You can find it in your programs list in your start menu under Eagle Dynamics. As for joining servers, they may already be running the new version, which would make your version obsolete/incompatible.
  8. Yes. Nevada will be the debut of the EDGE engine.
  9. Is there a means to run the auto-update utility without automatically starting the program? Or is such a feature planned? Mention of what the utility is patching would be nice too.
  10. I'm not sure what it is, but I would think from a ground vehicle due to the ammo cans.
  11. And who knew the AN/ALQ-131 could have ammo cans attached. =p Disclaimer: This is the result of a 1.2.1 track file when played in 1.2.2. For whatever reason, instead of the SUU-25 model, it is now some form of gatling gun with ammo belt coming from a set of ammo cans. I cannot recreate the issue with a new mission or loadout, so I can't classify it as a bug. Funny nonetheless. :) Sadly the track file is still messed up and shows my plane flying off into the water for some reason instead of my neatly placed bombs and nice landing while fighting heavy crosswind.
  12. The last I remember reading, the the current map and terrain will continue to use the old engine, while Nevada would use Edge. ...but, "Everything is subject to change."
  13. I don't think there has been real news of EDGE in this thread since the last 50 pages. Short answer - No.
  14. Perhaps something I did not see before it was resolved in the recent "micro-patches" from the auto-updater? Glad it is resolved for you.
