  1. I'm having the same problem. I've tried windows/full screen modes. I've even reset the USB MIMO monitors during the game. The config files are good as well and my options for video are the same as before. I get the loading screen as normal in all the monitors but when the sim starts it freezes. I have no other ideas. ***UPDATE*** FIXED for me: It was the "Disable Aero Desktop" in the options screen.
  2. After flying the P-51 I really am at a loss. It seems to be a really well done aircraft in pretty much all aspects except the 50 Cal damage modeling. As some of you know I'm a flight engineer in the USAF and I'm still qualified on the GAU-18/21 (50 Cal). I have over 250 combat hours with the weapon in Iraq and Afghanistan and I consider myself pretty familiar with everything in regards with that gun and the true damage just one can do. After initially flying DCS Mustang I transitioned into combat with it. I started out on the quick start mission of the Mustangs going head to head. As I came around my opponent I opened fire and scored many direct hits. To my surprise and countless hits he remained flying with just a little fuel streaming out. I continued to fire and again each time after scoring direct hits and was not pleased to see him still flying, especially since I just winchester'd the gun and it just doesn't seem right. After trying combat with many other aircraft in DCS including helo's I came under the same problem. Truthfully if I was shooting a 22 gauge at the target I could see it but not with the Ma Deuce. After flying and firing the gun in anger across the world and at home in the MH-53 and now in the CV-22 Osprey with just one .50 cal I'm still amazed how much damage this baby can dish out. The USAF still teaches many of the basic concepts aerial gunners were taught back in WWII as it still applies to my job today. Now you put 6 of those babies up on the wing of a P-51 and as the video will show you below you will not have to press that trigger nearly as long as we do in DCS to completely obliterate your target. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YlxBRLEySo So my request to the Developer is this; please increase the 50 cal damage/ballistics to its accurate and more powerful setting.   4. Ironically, I still think the people who are most qualified to fly such a machine from a console are the ones right here reading this message. No one else has as much experience flying a console that most of the readers in here....now thats scary!

  6. How many times has the topic of the 120/F15 and its radar been talked about....to many times! Its beyond beating a dead horse. Anyone who has been in hanging out in these forums knows that anything people say, whether it be problems or even solutions to these issues arent going to be solved anytime soon to say the very least. I have yet to hear a response from the dev's on these topics. That doesnt mean they're not working on it but they sure arent talking about it in here with us.
  7. Trust me, you dont want to go down this road trying to figure out why the AIM-120 is crap in this game...then end result will not please you, especially concerning LOFT or any guidance issues with the 120.
  8. No worries Ice...it was definitely a great experience and Im glad to have been a part of RF3. I had no clue you were so far close in on me when I doubled back since Yoda was on your six too LOL. I think my favorite kill I had was technically not even from me. I dragged a Red Fighter into the the blue Tor kill zone and he got shot down by the Tor....talk about luck!
  9. Well, I'm just glad the server was decent and it didnt warp as much as I feared. Was alittle harry getting the thing started with all the correct settings but I finally got it up and running. Here are a couple pics I took of Foxtrot Flight of F15's taking care of business on CAP. Kudos to Yoda for good flying. Inbound on CAP, high and fast: Keeping tight formation on Ingress allowed us to play alittle drag and bracket for my first kill since the other a/c had no clue it was really two of us. Defending west after I guess I really didnt need to. Thanks everyone who participated and I'm looking forward to the next RF.
  10. Ah, the now over 3 year debate about AMRAAM's/F15. I will continue to take the realistic and safe bet that the F15 radar will still suck and the 120's will still have no realistic loft time as well as all the other things wrong with them since ED didnt spend enough time on the American equipment than the Russian equipment, mainly to get the product out the door in 03 amongst a laundry list of other things. Its all about the $$$ in the end.
  11. Rarely do I hear folks from all ends of the lockon community talking about the same thing or even getting frustrated with one particular topic...and that is one of them. The whole ban police has pissed more people off than I can ever remember....and the lockon.ru site being down doesnt help solve that issue either. I personally hope that this all gets resolved soon.

  13. Question, I have been making tracks in the 504th server and its some great fights and missions but the server is set without exernal views. Anyway to have external views when replaying the track so I can make my movie look a whole lot better. Thanks,
  14. Depends on the helo. The one I fly you can count on it. There are so many darn antenna's sticking out of our helo its ridiculous...but hey, it keeps me alive. Here is the official AF description. "Mission The Pave Low's mission is low-level, long-range, undetected penetration into denied areas, day or night, in adverse weather, for infiltration, exfiltration and resupply of special operations forces." Our job is basically to go in when all others cant. Usually when a team knows we are coming to pick them up they can count on us there.
  15. Chaff, flares....you name it. The Iraqi's dont even bother shooting at my bird anymore unless its AK'S or RPG's.
  16. ACC A-10 Demo team is the only hogs with a chrome gun just like hitman said. The earlier pic with it is old, before they changed to the newer pure grey color scheme....its simply a cool factor for the crowd.
  17. We fly with our flaps down for the whole show. It has served us well thus far and we also use a trim function while in the delta.
  18. Thats right. A couple days ago the Virtual Thunderbirds put on its first remote show over water. Alot of work went into making this happen. Not just the planning and mission building but the hours sight survey, studying each marker placement to abort plan...no detail overlooked and this was no ordinary VTB airshow as was done in the past. Six red, white, and blue jets took off at Sochi-Adler airport and then heading west to the resort town of Sochi ( a real resort town) and performed a high remote show. And here are the pics. I wish I could get all of them in here but here is just a taste of what was demonstrated that day. Thanks to my fellow team members for making this a great first step into our remote shows....no challenge lies to big for us after flying this!   19. Yak-40....LMAO! This is truly a russian sim. Lets not fix any of the plethora of F15/A10 issues or the fact that you cant even refuel on a kc-10 online after all these years but hey here is a russian model that is absolutely useless in a combat flight sim. I finally give up hoping for anything for the western aircraft. I speak in regards to the western aircraft and all things related to them. I gotta say the russian stuff is truly amazing when it comes to this sim.
  20. Was to ambiguous I think. My point is its not just about the airplane. Sure the aircraft will give you up to some level of advantage with its great or small but never count out the pilots abilities in the equation either. Whats the use of a fantastic piece of machinery if the guy in the seat cant operate it effectively right?

You arent ignorant and in no way did I use that word...I hate forums when it comes to interpretation my friend and I respect your comments very much too along with your position in the formation community. I just was stating that I posted because I took this topic of interest . Mainly cause its been discussed so many times it felt like we were going around in circles with the f14. Nothing personal, just my two cents bud...and now back on topic...I think the better pilot will win in the F14 vs F18 engagement.

  23. Amen to that. Makes me wonder why people post threads where just by the topic you know it will either end up locked or going around in circles. If I was so curious about the F14 and what the big deal is about it I would do alot more research. Otherwise its just one of those threads that replicates the Jerry Springer show but in forum format....personally, I enjoy the TV version better. But hey, isnt ignorance bliss?
