When I served in the navy 10 years ago, we alwaysed measured things in pints (of beer). I still think that's a good way to legitimate a purchase :thumbup: You see, here in Norway, if you buy a pint at a pub i will cost probably around $10 (Yeah, I know it's terrible, but our gouverment don't want us to use alcohol and tobacco so they try to make it so expensive that noone will afford to drink/smoke). Anyway, the point is, if you do the math, you'll easily see that you get tons of more fun with the Warthog than you get from beer for the same amount of dollars :smartass: You see Oh btw, I can't afford the sim yet myself. Still have to read about the fun in here for two more weeks until I get my salary.

Totally agree :thumbup: I don't see them as a competitor to DCS, but more like a supliment. I'm gonna buy both.

Ah the good old Vestfjord-bull as the locals used to call it (because of the enginenoise) Unfortunately I was too young to remember it when it was operational but luckily I have seen it several times at airshows. It is still a beautiful plane :) Nice pictures. What kind of aircraft is the upper photo?

I found this article in the local newspaper. Thought I might post it since the video was in quite good quality. To the non-norwegian people out there, the article is about one (of many) interceptions of russian planes patroling the norwegian border. The video is taken from F-16s based at my hometown Bodø.

I don't know if this is old news but I came across this link for an F/A-18 sim. I downloaded the demo but have only tried it on my laptop with my mouse as flight controller so cannot say anything about how it felt. But I would describe it like something in between Falcon and Jane's F/A-18. At first I thought it was an add-on for FSX but it is a sweet litle playable demo :thumbup:

Have been fideling with some of the changes I did but no go. Guess I'll just keep on trying. Going away for a couple of days tomorrow, maybe that will clear my head and give me some ideas

Yes, as I did several fresh installs the initial resolution is 1024x768 which my screen is able to show. No as I mentioned in my first post there are no codec packs installed. I have quite recently reinstalled my OS (winXP) so there isn't much installed yet. I did install LockOn with FC and correct patches and played a little bit. Working just fine. I installed some other games (as mentioned) and didn't play LockOn for a week or so. Somewhere in between here I did tweak my system a little bit. My other games still works ok but LockOn, for some reason I can't figure out, won't work. Of course there is the option to install or repair OS over again, but I thought I try to fix this without doing this and maybe learn something from this.

Hello guys I hope someone can help me on this one 'cause I'm out of ideas. I haven't been playing Lock On for some days, and when I tried to start it never startet. It stopped just the second the menumusic started. But it never showed up the loading screen. I thougt WTF and tried everything I could think of. Ended up reinstalling the game. Same thing. :mad: I tried with vanilla lockon. no patches or anything. Still didn't work. Tried installing with another path. No luck either. All my other games work perfectly (RainbowSix, CivIV, World in Conflict) I tried to just update DirectX just incase, no help at all. I have to admit I have been "tuning" my windows by turning off some services and stuff to keep it as fast as possible, but I can't see what should make LockOn stop working? I have not installed any codec packs as I saw several threads about this. I actually have a quite new installation of windows. I agree. I think this is the only way to make it possible. One developer can't afford to make every aspect on it's own, but if we could log on to... let's say "worldwar server" where us flyboys logon with our dcs sim and those tank fanatics logon with their whatever tank sim and the grunts logon with their fps game. So they carry on their mission until we come and ruin their day with our su-25 or a-10 or maybe save their asses depending on the mission. Maybe this will not be for another 10 years but think how far we have come in the computer world the last 15 years. Yes, I've been using it with TS, so I thought why not gather all coms on the headset, but I guess you're right, it's not possible, though I hope someone knows a way to do it

Is it possible to set up LockOn so you could have ie. radio commands on a different soundcard than the rest of the sounds? Like when I use a USB headset (which acts as another soundcard) could I get the radiocom. on my headset speaker while the rest of the sounds goes through my other soundcard to the normal speakers? Couldn't find a way to configure it and don't know how to open the sound.ini file...

But since it was a good show I concider buying a DVD-collection of it which I found. And then I could rip it myself :) Still noone who still got the F/A-18 CD?

Hi! I couldn't find my old Janes F/A-18 cd. Was hoping someone could mail me the file? Not the one which was the original menu music, but the other file which had the same theme as the intro movie. Another question: Does anyone remember the series "Great Planes" on Discovery? Looooooong time ago. Does anyone know the name of the music or happen to have that music? EDIT: Found this :D on youtube - That's the one. Would just like to have the theme in better quality and it will be the new menumusic in lockon for me

Nope, it seems it doesn't like anything else than 256 or 512 but thanks for giving it a try. Of course you could use 4:3 setting for UI but I think I read that it wouldn't work with that HDR Bloom mod, because you had to use the same settings in UI as in game. But I can live with the way it looks for me after I changed them myself. It may not look as good on my computer as you intended, but good enough. PS! My x1950 cards gets very upset :cry: when you refer to them as older videocards :D EDIT: I tried to resize the file to 512 and converted it to dds again and I noticed that the .dds file I made was only half the size of your original file, maybe the software I use (dds converter 2.1) is to blame for some of the quality loss?

Well, the weapon it much butter than the originals from ED though they doesn't show up as good as your original work, but still much better. Only thing that bugs me, as you can see, is the text that are a bit dissorted.

Hi! I've tried your mod but it doesn't show up correctly. I found a tread were TekaTeka mentions that for ATI cards the files must be like 256*256 512*512 etc... I did convert the files by myself, and it did the trick, but converting back and forth wasn't good for quality, so question is, can you send me your raw files or be extremely nice and convert it to 512*512. You don't have to modify them, 'cause they look correct, doesn't look stretched, but they need to be 512*512. Thanks in advance

Wow!!! That was really amusing. I had to bring out popcorn and soda to watch this one :) Was like a full length movie. Great fun. Only thing that was not so good was the poor framerates in the opening carrier scene.

That looks really sweet, but I'm concerned wether I'll be able to hit the correct buttons on my 8" screen. My fingers aren't so small. What screen do you use?

No that is nice. I like it. Have just been watching it with irfanview. Won't have my other computer ready until next week. So have no LockOn installed on this computer. But is it possible to fix the buttons? so they don't look so crapy in other res than 1024x768? (I use 1680x1050)
