  1. Thanks. That helped. I had read through the briefings but didn't notice the SOP manual.
  2. I have finally stepped out of the A-10C and Hornet, and started properly flying the F-16 I pre-purchased so many years ago. This campaign is great, but I haven't been able to decipher where I am meant to be marshalling in the missions. I have been through all the documentation, but steerpoints aren't mentioned, and while there is great info on the marshalling requirements such as the pattern to fly and what altitude to fly, it tells me my marshall point is "Alaska". Where is Alaska? Thanks.
  3. I'm currently playing through the F-16 included missions. I have played "Coiled Viper" a few times. If I order the wingmen to attack targets individually when first approaching the intercept point, they do seem to engage and attack the aircraft. A couple of times though, I have specifically gone after the escort Migs, and that has left me short of ammo to take out the cargo aircraft, the main targets of the mission. After chewing through all my missiles and gun ammo, I lock on to the cargo aircraft individually and order individual wingmen to attack the target, and they all reply "Unable". They are nearby, they all have full ammo except for one fired AIM-20, they have not reported bingo. What are the conditions that lead to wingmen becoming this useless?
  4. Please revisit this ED. It has always been an annoyance in VR, as spectacular as VR is in DCS. Makes it very hard to bring up the SMS page, select two tanks to drop, to drop your tanks while you are doing 550 Kts at 100 feet in the F-16. It is fine while you r sitting in your cockpit at startup, but flying and hitting multiple small buttons become a PITA when the mouse cursor keeps moving all over the place from minute head movements in VR.
  5. I get shot down by a Mig-29 that follows me as soon as I dive down to WP4. E-3 also gets shot down by either Mig-29 or Mig-21, and Wingman is Bingo before even reaching WP3, while I still have 10,000 lbs remaining. Not sure how Mig-29s and Mig-21s came into the picture, as I never even get a warning from the E-3.
  6. Very old thread, but ATC frequency is also incorrect for Dawn Raiders mission. Mission info lists it wrong frequency and the preset is the wrong frequency. It must be manually tuned to 251.10. Not sure but it may also be incorrect on Island Style, as that also departs from Al Dhafra.
  7. OK, issue solved, in a way. Flew the entire mission again today, and after hitting enter on the DED on each Lat/Lon field and altitude during alignment, the navigation issue was solved, range and distance was showing on the EHSI, datalink was working, and bombs hit targets. I can't say that solved the original issue though, because as written in the above post, I had successfully guided the bombs on target with the TGP before I had figured out I needed to confirm the Lat/Lon during alignment. So, still not sure why the guidance wasn't working the first 6 times I flew the mission. It's probable that I forgot to hit a button somewhere, but can't be sure what. In any case there is no issue now.
  8. Update - After flying Dawn Raiders again tonight, I FINALLY got the LGB to guide onto target. I did change a whole heap of things, so not sure which helped, if any. Instead of using pairs I used a single LGB on the Scud launchers (although I then successfully dropped a pair of GBU-12s on to the building at the airfield). Before startup I set a completely different code in the kneeboard (1521) and then changed to that code on the TGP. I set lase time to 15 seconds instead of 18. I bypassed the hold at WP1 and headed straight to the target. I flew directly over the target instead of orbiting. Will report back if I narrow down any issues. Now I just need to figure out why the TACAN isn't working and the EHSI won't show direction or range, although I think I just read why on another post (not confirming L/L during alignment).
  9. Yes, as far as I can tell they are identical. I haven't touched the kneeboard codes, and they show 1688. Also haven't touched the TGP codes previously, but they showed 1688. Tonight I did go into Laser settings during startup to set time for laser firing, and those codes originally showed 1688 but then changed to 0. I went to set them back to 1688, but then they reset themselves to 1688. May have just been something that happens during startup. In any case, as far as I can tell, codes match up. Next step is to try different codes I suppose .
  10. I only seem to have this problem in the mission "Dawn raiders". I have created a few practice missions in the mission editor, and the GBU-12 is hitting target designated with the TGP. In Dawn raiders, which I just flew again, the laser is firing, the code is set to 1688, but the bombs just free fall. laser gbu12 miss 2.trk
  11. No idea why the track is so large, but I only use single player. This track is from the Dawn Raiders mission so maybe it's large because of that?
  12. Hi, I've been flying DCS for quite a few years, on and off, but mostly flying the A-10C and the F/A-18, with some shorter time in the F-16, F-14 and other older jets. I have just started getting into the F-16 properly, but am having some issues getting the GBU-12s to follow laser guidance. They just seem to come off the jet and fly their default trajectory, despite the TGP having a point track/lock on a target, and the laser firing. I am just using the default 1688 code and have not changed that on the bombs or the TGP. I have mostly been flying the Dawn Raiders mission over and over trying to correct my mistakes, but I can't figure out what mistakes I'm making to not get the bombs to follow the laser. It is firing, I have the targets (launchers) in view in point track but the bombs just miss by a mile. I am dropping from about 27000 feet and have the laser firing time set to 18 seconds. I will attach a track from the last flight if that can provide insight into what I am doing wrong. Thanks. laser gbu12 miss.trk
  13. I do mean 50Mb/s. I'm in Australia, and yes, our internet is that crap . I don't have wired set up at all. Currently living with others and we have a router to share the internet. The incoming connection is nowhere near my PC. In any case, there is no problem with my internet. There is either a problem with the install or with the servers. I'm hoping it's the latter. Cheers
  14. It may be. I did consider that due to some of the error messages. Thanks for the info. No cable currently. Wifi is sufficient. not great, but sufficient. About 50 Mb/s.
  15. Hi, Trying to do a new install on a new PC. I started a couple of days ago, then my 5GHz wi-fi went down yesterday, so just did a little bit yesterday. i have stopped and started the Updater about 3 times. Today I got home from work, reset the wi-fi to get the 5GHz working again, then not long after opened up updater the updater as Administrator. It should have only had about 14GB or so left to download. Now it just searches for updates, then shuts down after about 2 minutes. This has occurred 5 times now. Same happens if I try to run the game, which I guess just runs the updater first anyway. Here are the messages from the autoupdate_templog: 00000.031 --- Log file: C:\Users\scott\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS\autoupdate_templog.txt 00000.000 === Log opened UTC 2024-02-12 05:36:17 00000.009 INFO : DCS_Updater/2.16.2.17 (Windows NT 10.0.22631; Win64; en-AU) 00000.009 INFO : src-id: 5972e82a1851d36865c17506579c27cbd5b8e3b4, lib-id: b88ea51ae2210987a3865f77cc1802548216d7a8 00000.010 INFO : cmdline: "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" 00000.030 STATUS: Initializing... 00000.031 INFO : basedir: D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 00000.031 INFO : DCS/ (x86_64; EN; WORLD,CAUCASUS_terrain,MARIANAISLANDS_terrain) 00000.031 INFO : branch: 00000.032 STATUS: Checking for updates... 00029.911 ERROR: www.digitalcombatsimulator.com replied HTTP 502 Bad Gateway 00029.911 INFO : DCS/ (x86_64; EN; WORLD,CAUCASUS_terrain,MARIANAISLANDS_terrain) 00029.911 INFO : branch: 00029.913 === Log closed. 00000.000 === Log opened UTC 2024-02-12 05:38:48 00000.013 INFO : DCS_Updater/2.16.2.17 (Windows NT 10.0.22631; Win64; en-AU) 00000.013 INFO : src-id: 5972e82a1851d36865c17506579c27cbd5b8e3b4, lib-id: b88ea51ae2210987a3865f77cc1802548216d7a8 00000.013 INFO : cmdline: "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" 00000.051 STATUS: Initializing... 00000.051 INFO : basedir: D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\ 00000.053 INFO : DCS/ (x86_64; EN; WORLD,CAUCASUS_terrain,MARIANAISLANDS_terrain) 00000.053 INFO : branch: 00000.054 STATUS: Checking for updates... 00024.043 ERROR: www.digitalcombatsimulator.com replied HTTP 500 Internal Server Error 00024.043 INFO : DCS/ (x86_64; EN; WORLD,CAUCASUS_terrain,MARIANAISLANDS_terrain) 00024.043 INFO : branch: 00024.044 === Log closed. Any ideas please? I really don't want to spend another 3 days trying to install this for the third time on my new PC. Installed it once successfully a few weeks ago, but then had to do a full Windows reinstall. Thanks
  16. Hi, Loving the Raven One campaign so far. I am having an issue with Mission 03 though, and will probably skip it now, due to the length of time in the mission before the issue keeps occurring. I startup, take off, join up with Smoke and that's all fine. First time I played it, Smoke approached the tanker as I was waiting on the left as instructed, looked down for one second to extend my probe, and when I looked up, Smoke was gone, and I saw his canopy falling away. I assume something happened and he ejected, but there were no calls. I was still off the left wing of the tanker. I tried to continue, and did for a bit, was unable to tank off the right hose, but tried the left hose and I could connect with that. After tanking I just quit as I felt I should have a wingman to continue. Just played it again today. Again, got to the tanker, flew off the left wing of the tanker, indicated for Smoke to go first, but even though he acknowledged, he did not go first. I couldn't see him at all. He was in formation with me with about 40 NM to go to the tanker, the last time I checked, but he was gone. I waited about two minutes, but he didn't approach the tanker, and I could not find him. I checked the extrenal view cameras, and it switched straight from me to a C-130, so he had apparently disappeared totally from the mission. I checked the notes in the debriefing for a clue, but it only had startups and takeoffs listed, nothing about an ejection or dead pilot. Not sure what happened.
  17. Definitely getting this shortly. I was always a huge fan of the Mosquito, Hope we can get one equipped with the 40mm Bofors and one with the 57mm Molins Cannon.
  18. I have been watching lots of videos by this Youtuber and ex Tomcat RIO and instructor, Ward Carroll. The latest vid is on BVR tactics which I thought some DCS pilots may be interested in. Most of the vids I have watched of Ward's have not been tactical or technical, although there may be some of that scattered throughout. I just find he is a great storyteller, and I would highly recommend anyone check out his other videos. The first vid of his I saw was on the history of the Blue Angels, which had lots of info I had never learned before.
  19. It's fake. I saw the image today on Imgur website and had a laugh. I wish the Huey actually did have a tape player like the Tomcat does, but then maybe that would break copyright depending on the songs used. I always think of Painted Black or Born to be Wild whenever I see a Huey anywhere, as well as Fortunate Son, and probably a few more from movies or TV shows back in the day. I actually didn't know which song Fortunate Son was, but of course I recognised it as soon as I played it on Youtube.
  20. Awesome job with the Serpent's Head 2 Campaign! I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to end. I have been flying the Hornet for a while, but this was the first time I had really learned a heap about it in a relatively short time. Prior to this campaign I had only flown the Agressor's BFM campaign in the Hornet, which is awesome, but limited to BFM, as the name implies. I just finished today, taking two attempts to complete the final mission.. Damn that was hard lasing that vehicle with no lock on. On the first misison attempt I used all four bombs and never hit him, but this time I got him first try. This campaign also pushed me to learn to do A2A refuelling, something I have never been able to achieve before. I am really happy to say that I can consistently refuel in the air now (in the Hornet at least). Perhaps my greatest achievement came at the end. I was feeling the pressure of the landing right at the end of misson 10, mostly because the pilot said he felt pressure, and that background music . I also only had about 1200 pounds of fuel remaining. Somehow, despite not being able to see the runway until right near the end of the approach (obviously because it was dark AF) I snagged the 3 wire for perhaps the first time ever. I can always land on the carrier fine, even first time most of the time, but usually my approaches are horrible. This time I managed an _OK_:WIRE#3 !!!. Really, great job on the campaign. It was a lot of fun and I learned a LOT. Cheers,
  21. Actually it doesn't seem to be happening anymore. I think the "Disable Hotplug" may have fixed it, but not sure. Perhaps it was an update.
  22. Have you kept turning the friction wheel? You need to keep turning it in the "increase" direction until it becomes harder to turn. It is like tightening a screw, yo need to turn it until the pressure increases, it is not just left to right positioning. Not sure if you have tried this already.
  23. Hi, Since updating to DCS World 2.70 I have been getting intermittent messages saying "Input Device TrackIR unplugged" and then straight after "Input Device TrackIR plugged in" (or something similar to this). Yesterday it just happened a few times randomly, but today in a campaign mission it was disconnecting and reconnecting every 5-10 seconds. The main issue is I don't even use TrackIR, and I never have. I recently installed OpenTrack so I could use the mobile app "Smoothtrack" with other sims, but that was not running, and has not been running at all for about a week. I always use the Oculus Rift S when using DCS World, or at least 99% of the time I do. If I check controls options when I get the messages I can see an input device called TrackIR. I tried to do a rescan which removed the TrackIR input device, and then I selected "Disable Hotplug". Not sureif this has fixed it. When the issue occurs there is a major performance hit and lagging and pauses, so it is very annoying. I have checked all USB entries in Device Manager and ensured that the "Power Management" entry is unchecked, but the problem persisited even after doing that. The main question is, why is DCS World detecting that I have TrackIR when I do not have it? Cheers,
  24. Doesn't look too bad for me in the A or B. I usually check by checking the seat back relative to where my back would be (or is) and the same with seat height in comparison to where my real seat is. I always reset my view when first starting DCS World, and periodically, by just looking forward with my head straight and level and pressing numpad 5. Some games I have to adjust it manually by moving my head forward, back, up or down, then pressing the reset view key, but DCS World is pretty much always spot on for me with a comfortable position looking straight ahead.
