  1. I have noticed this too. flying level is darn near impossible with the flaps in auto. looking at the FCS - stabelizers are fully deflected and trim does nothing to correct it.
  2. Something isn't right, I have deadzones defined, but the AP won't engage anything despite the indicators : on the UFC and indications on the left DDI. when I do the above, I do get the INS ATT master caution, but I don't get 3 X's in the procedure row. This must be a bug. AP doesn't work at all.... for me at least.
  3. is this suggested/recommended for the X-Axis too?
  4. just getting into a flying formation with a tanker or any aircraft is a nightmare of skill and patience. landing at night in a crosswind at minimums is easy by comparison. or maybe i just s#ck at pilotage.
  5. ok - that's right..... maddogging a 120 at > 15nm is a waste (even at high altitude) other than it makes the enemy go defensive, but they easily evade and turn back pretty quick. You have to quickly close the distance and pitbull another shot before they turn back into you. at least, that is my limited experience.
  6. I know I've read this before, but can't remember: what the difference between a missile being pitbull v maddog? Also, how do you maddog a missile off the rails?
  7. This has all been educational - I did manage a 1v2 victory last night at 37,000 feet beyond 12nm - I need to check my tacview to double check and calculate the actual distance - since it only displays engagement distance in feet.
  8. I've been reading a lot of BVR info lately and trying a lot of stuff - I still stink. However, in a 1v2 situation I can splash one, crank, descend, extend and re-engage. Doing some quick math - if I'm being followed (AI) at 1.0M, then I'm guessing I need to extend 50-60nm from the enemy plane before I turn hot again. This gives me about a minute to re-acquire the target before he's approaching Rmax. I'm assuming a lot of constants, but does 50-60nm seem excessive or not enough distance when extending?
  9. That looks like a test question for the Graduate Record Exam. Ugh.
  10. ok - that's what i needed to know. I pre-purchased NTTR, but i thought i had to wait for 2.0 open beta to use it. I'll download it tonight now. fun! thanks!
  11. so, 2.0 open alpha download will create a completely different icon/.exe that will run totally separate from 1.5?
  12. I'm wondering if I'm missing out on the F-15 and now the SU-27. The updates to these both say it is "a free update for owners of FC3" Well, I have FC3, but how do I get the free update? Did if come with a subsequent DCS update or do I need to download a new version of these individual modules and install them? If if came with a DCS update, is there a way to tell if I'm using the newer version? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
  13. I am trying to find an explanation of the options menus (from the main screen) . Does this exist somewhere?
