  1. LOL. I'm glad I'm inspiring some one. However, I stay so busy that I can only fly the sim once in a while, so I spend a lot of time when I am on the sim trying to remember what the switchology is for all the weappons. Maybe I should go back to the 172 on MSFX.
  2. Sign up for the RSS feed on the site outLAW listed. They provide almost daily great pictures of the A10 in action. One recent picture showed an A10 with an experimental nose radar setup.
  3. Used the CH pedals for years and used to love them until I got the Saitek Combat pedals. Now my CH pedals are gathering dust in the closet.
  4. I was taxiing out of a shelter when I was late making a tight right turn. My left wing tip hit the shelter across the taxi way from mine. I expected to lose part of my left wing tip, but that's not what happened. I heard a crashing noise, but the damage was bullet holes all over the outer third of the left wing. Maybe I just touched the building and woke up a sleeping guard who, in his panic, sprayed my wing with his automatic weapon.
  5. There are some excellent articles written by a retired pilot that explain how to attack ground targets using dumb bombs. He goes into great detail on how to maneuver the aircraft into the proper position for a successful attack. You can find the articles here: http://www.simhq.com/_air/acc_library.html Scroll down to the section labeled Air to Ground and then to the titles, "Moving Mud - Air to Ground Basics - Part One - Bombing", and, "Moving Mud - Air to Ground Basics - Part Two - Bombing".
  6. Technique used by F-16 pilots. For great precision military pilots use a method called 'washing the stick'. It sounds crazy but it works. Stir the stick in a single direction just a few degrees off of center. Use your rudders in time with the circular motion at the inverse direction when stirring the ailerons(right rudder when stick is at 9oclock). While washing the stick you can make very minute corrections. I know I know.. it sounds crazy, but it works.. especially when air refueling. This technique is described in the book, "Vipers in the Storm". The author used this technique to "relax" when he was especially tense during a mission. I use a little reverse rudder when making hard turns to keep from losing altitude. e.g., during a hard left turn I'll use a little right rudder. I learned this technique from the book, "Stick and Rudder".
  7. I have this same issue. When I launch DSCW and then the A10C, I usually start at the power panel, but nothing works until I click the mouse anywhere over the left console. The game then minimizes. All I have to do is click on the icon at the bottom of my screen, the game reappears, and then all is well. I thought it was cleared up with an update for a while, but then the problem reappeared. This has to be a programming bug somewhere.
  8. Slowly, but I think surely, World and A10C 1.2.1.etc., are coming together and the little irritating bugs are going away one by one and it's becoming fun to fly again. But there's one thing missing that I loved on MSFSX and I wish was on DCS mods. That is where the location and condition of the plane is remembered so when you return to the game, the plane is where you left it and in the condition it was in when you left it. Maybe someday?
  9. Glad I found this thread! I've been having the same issue for three days. What I've been doing is clicking the mouse near the left console. That causes the screen to minimize. When I maximizer again all is well.
  10. Merci nomdeplume! lol! I should never try to do this stuff when I'm tired and haven't had my coffee. As soon as I read your reply (I just had a good night's sleep) I realized I hadn't reinstalled the modules - and I think I spent a few hours trying to figure things out. Thanks again.
  11. Okay, I've given myself a headache. Installed 1.2.1. and my A10C and CA self activated. It worked fine. Then after I set up my rudder pedals (I forgot to set up the brakes) and went back into the game, I think my Kaspersky screwed things up and the game wouldn't work at all - something about a "PDM Keylogger". So, with some of the files screwed up, I uninstalled and reinstalled the 1.2.1 world again. But this time there was no self activation and I have dollar signs at my A10C and CA. I tried to force the activation by holding down shift and the multiplayer icon, but that just takes me into the multiplayer area. HELP?????
  12. Uh oh. Installed everything and got to use it once just long enough to realize I had to set up my Saitek rudder peddles and brakes. I noticed though, that my mouse was stuttering over switches. Restarted the game, it updated, and then nothing worked. I suspect my Kaspersky anti-virus program is responsible because it found and isolated a " DCS PDM Keylogger". Now what?
  13. Duhh, actually I do. Thanks for the reminder
  14. Thanks guys (Revelation and Pyroflash). Just went through the process. This might hurt marketing in the short term, but I can see the benefits for the long term. I wish I had thought to save one particular mission I've been building for a while.
  15. There's obviously some very smart and gifted people working on this sim, but I have a question. Why make it necessary to uninstall and deactivate everything and then start all over again. Why not just produce a patch that could accomplish the same thing - the KISS method? Just wondering.
  16. My pick was the A10C because it is about as close to the real thing as you can get without flying an actual million dollar simulator. To get proficient you'll have to study the manuals, practice quite a bit, and keep up with these forums. The learning curve is high and long. But that's my cup of tea. I was always disappointed with MSFS, and I had been flying that ever since it first came out. If you want to yank, bank, and kill right away, get something else. I liked MSFS because you could go anywhere in the world. In comparison, the DCS World is relatively small, but, because the A10C demands so much, I don't miss the big world at all.
  17. I'd give my Thrustmaster HOTAS, track IR, and Saitek pedals to be 60 again. LOL
  18. I'd be willing to venture that I'm the oldest member here at 71. I've been flying simulators since Microsoft (and the old disk operating system (DOS)) had stick figure fighters in a cube world. At the same time, and over the years, I've visited a lot of sim sites and read a lot of forums, few of which I ever bothered to revisit. But I continue to be impressed with the professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to the hobby I see on this site every day. I know writing code to produce a simulator like the A10C is far from easy. And producing the reams of documentation necessary to fully enjoy the simulator isn't an easy matter either. It takes a cohesive team of selflessly dedicated individuals. I've worked with a lot of organizations in my lifetime and I always found the groups that openly shared knowledge and information without restrictions were usually far superior to those that didn't. And added to all that is their unusual patience in dealing with the questions, comments, reports, and suggestions from users all over the globe. I like gauges, dials, switches and most anything that flies on a computer, especially when it's also capable of blowing up things, and most especially when it comes really close to the real thing. I haven't been disappointed and I too thank paulrkiii and the rest of the ED team.
