Real life Tasking referencing Hornet
wiz_of_wuz replied to wiz_of_wuz's topic in Military and Aviation
Thank you for the thoughtful response and context! Greatly appreciated! Wiz -
Can anyone speak with authority as to if a single Hornet would be tasked with two missions at the same time? I.E, Bombing mission in conjunction with a SEAD TOO? Are Attack missions in real life single threaded or are they usually multi tasked? Wiz

Can I have open and stable 2.5 at the same time? I just updated stable after months and when I log in NONE of my modules are available to install in stable. Multiple restarts and even tried a single aircraft .bat to no avail. Open Beta is fine. Thanks!

How do you go about determining what the view of a particular cockpit should be? I play on a 55 inch TV and my only reference is the TOMCAT since I have been in the cockpit and know exactly what the view should be. I have been looking on line to get an idea of what the Mirage and Hornet look like from the seat but I am not having luck do to location of cameras. I am looking specifically for example how much of the radome is visible and how far back the pilot sits from the panel. Suggestions cheefully accepted. Thanks! Wiz

Can someone help.me.settle.the burner on takeoff debate
wiz_of_wuz replied to Sublimearrepentido's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Sublime I am doing everything I can for you without getting my ass kicked to the curb. Go to google and search F14B/D NATOPS (Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization Manual) and start reading. There is only one BIBLE for Naval Aircraft and Naval Aviation has one for every single aircraft. Good luck! Sections 4 and 11 are takoff restrictions and trust me it wont take you long to find it. -

This is straight From the BIBLE for F-14B/D I am not sure About the operational limits of the catapults on any carrier but what is written below for the Tomcat is taken as the gospel. 4. Prohibited Maneuvers. The following additional maneuvers are prohibited: 1. Intentional spins. 2. During afterburner operations: a. Sustained 0 to – 0.5g flight. b. Flight from – 0.5g to – 2.4g’s for more than 10 seconds. 3. At MIL power or less, zero or negative-g flight for more than 20 seconds. 4. AIM-9 launch with landing flaps and slats extended. 5. Fuel dumping with AB operating or with speedbrakes extended. 6. Dual-engine afterburner takeoffs, waveoffs, bolters or catapult launches. 7. Single-engine maximum afterburner takeoffs, waveoffs, bolters, or catapult launches. 8. Rolling maneuvers with blank angle changes in excess of 360!. 7. Afterburner Takeoff. Afterburner takeoffs are limited to single-engine minimum afterburner takeoffs, waveoffs, bolters, or catapult launches. Dual engine afterburner and single-engine maximum afterburner takeoffs, waveoffs, bolters, or catapult launches are prohibited. 11 Takeoff Configuration. Afterburner takeoffs are prohibited specifically because of controllability concerns in the event of engine failure during takeoff. An engine failure during a MIL power takeoff with the F110 engine will produce significant thrust asymmetry. -

Our A Cats on the America used burner for launch. The best thing on the deck at night was the Tomcat launching. Soft whistle of the intakes as she made her way to cats in the soft glow of Island lights and the sea of red tipped flashlights. The night was broken and the deck began to rumble as the mighty Tomcat began to roar. Her lights popped on and in an instant she was gone........ -
Thank you man! It is a messed up feeling to come in at 3K and push the stick over..... I appreciate the quick responses. Always appreciate the help! Wiz

Continuously Computed Idiot Pilot I can not for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong......... I have watched the videos and read the guides and I can not get it to work. So here I am begging...........:helpsmilie: I have the snake eyes loaded Everything is in the Hud........... I have nuts on 450 Kts, seat all the way up, and I have dived at 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and so on and the f*&^%$#@ pipper will not come to the target. I will get the break away X before the pipper shows up. I sure as hell hope this is something this idiot is doing wrong. Be aware that everything for CCIP is in the HUD and TAS and RS is selected and the Rad Alt is working. I am not zoomed in and the fall line is all I see until the break away X appears.......... Thanks for any help to this Mirage noob.......:joystick:

Thank you for bringing this AC out for the free period. Still learning the ins and outs and having a blast doing it. Some of thie design makes so much sense you wonder why every jet doesnt have it and some things make no sense at all but I am sure they will at some point. I did purchase it last night along with the campaign associated. I am looking forward to many hours exploiting her strengths....:book: Thanks again! Wiz
