Since upgrade #3 the landing and takeoff was more difficult, normal ?

It seems you understood the concept of a free market afterall. You don't have to buy what you don't like. However, the MiG is far from beeing unplayable. You would know that if you stoped complaining about something that doesn't affect you, and instead gave it a try.

This is a bug, not a feature. Apparently it will be fixed in the next patch.

Very nice work! Thanks for creating!

Version 0.0.4 released Hi, In version 0.0.4 I addressed the problem of a wrong (to low) speed being displayed. Thanks for fable2omg for pointing that out! I also changed some problem that could occur if you selected a file from the drop-down list, that wasn't a SARPP recording but something else instead. Download version 0.0.4: http://www.blumen-huschle.at/John/SARPP/J-SARPPV0.0.4.zip Changelog: - Fixed the problem where a to low speed would be displayed. (The SARPP recording was changed from km/h to m/s, therefore this problem started to appear) - Addressed a bug where non .txt files would appear in the drop-down list, if such files where in the recording folder. Userguide: After opening the programm add one or several graphs by clicking on "Add Graph" (1). Now, select the SARPP-log which you want to view from the list (2). By default the last log is displayed. Now select which data you want to view on the "Primary" (3A, left axis) and "Secondary" (3B, right axis) to view. You can make as many selections as you want, however you must select at least one option from the primary axis for the graph to be displayed. Once you made the selections, click on "Draw Graph" (4), and the graph will be drawn. You can repeat this process as many times as you want. You can also "re-draw" the same graph again, or remove it altogether. Your feedback is appricated! Thanks, John

Thank you for reporting. I will upload a fixed version in a couple of hours!

Hello, I have been playing around with the SPS-141-100 today, trying to figure out how active it can jam a SAM system. After some testing, I came to the conclusion that it is not even picking up a hostile radar lock as it should. I have attached to tracks two this post. In the first track (#1) I did not turn the SPS-141 on and I just flew straight towards the SA-3 site. At about 23km, it would fire one missile at me. In the second track (#2) I did turn on the SPS-141 on and, again, just flew straight towards the SA-3 site. As before, the SA-3 opened fire at 23km and shot me, just like with the jammer disabled. This might even be realistic as even the SA-3 had plenty of ways to deal with a jamming target (from manually inputting range information to optical guidance). However, my concern is, if the jammer aboard the MiG even turns on. According to the manual the red light should illuminate when painted by an enemy radar. However it doesn't, although the jammer is on and the aircraft is clearly locked. Due to the lack of proper documentation on the subject, it is hard to tell if I am missing something (maybe another mode, although I tried various combinations of settings on the SPS panel) or if this is a bug. Because, at this current point in time, the jammer seems to be useless in singleplayer. Best regards, John #1.trk #2.trk

Hello, It appears that since the last update (23.09.2014) the IAS saved in the SARPP file created after every flight is much lower than the actual IAS during the mission. See the attached SARPP recording. In the mission I have flown there, I have reached speeds in excess of 1000km/h (IAS) however, the maximum showing up in the SARPP recording is around 350km/h. Thanks, John SARPP_DATA_2014_09_02_22_39.zip

It does work. If you have loaded the smoke pods you can activate them by pressing T on your keyboard.

You are taking this discussion way out of context. Nobody here seemed to ask for that. So far this seems more like a couple people wondering how the radar is supposed to work at a low altitude and how the general radar behaviour is.
-
In theory yes. If you go into a 35°dive, the radar would be looking down 5-10°. I am not sure how practical that is, as you will probably run out of altitude quick. At a low starting altitude you might also get ground clutter displayed.
-
Did you turn annotations of? Because at 5:16 an annotation should pop up, explaining the difference since the update. At least I set it do pop up, and I hope it does...

Thanks again for the reply Nicholas Okay, makes sense. They don't have a meaning in scan mode then? They are there, but they are just used in the track mode? Okay, thanks! If you need any more tracks, let me know! Best regards, John
-
Thanks Cobra for your reply! Okay, that is good to know. So it is really that limited. :noexpression: Okay, good to know. So they are not supposed to be there in the scan mode at all? Hmm, then I wrongly assumed in my last video that they would indicate lateral distances to the side. Ups. Anyway, what about the low altitude locking? Is that a limitation of the radar as well? Or are we doing something wrong? Best regards and thanks for the great work, John

In this post from beczl he attached a word document that shows some technical data from the RP-22SM. Also indicating that it is at least to some extend stabilized against the horizon (8° climb, -25° dive, +- 70° in bank). EDIT: On page 4 of the very same document there is an image from the locked target. In the horizontal bar that appears, there are indications for 5 and 10km. We don't have those in the sim. I start to wonder if the radar described there is somewhat different to the radar we have in sim?
-
As requested I attached a track. In the track I couldn't see the targets on the radar screen, until I went into fixed beam mode. Going back from fixed beam mode to the normal scan mode showed the target for a short time, after it would disappear. I had no problem locking on in this instance, however I had problems with that in other (similar) systems. Neither the LST-Mode nor the side-lobe filtering made any difference. At higher altitude I couldn't notice this behaviour at all. Radar Demonstration.trk

Can't seem to find a start up checklist any where...
xxJohnxx replied to dotChuckles's topic in MiG-21Bis
In the English manual pdf the checklist starts at page 76. -
Today I covered the probably most requested topic: How to operate the MiG-21Bis radar. If you have any more suggestions, feedback or questions, please let me know! Enjoy, John

Hi, Thanks for your responses! Yes, I will probably do one of the next videos about that! I will put it on the list as well ;) I will see what I can do about that one. I am personally not very good at dodging incoming missiles myself, but I will give it a try and see how it ends up. :joystick: Thanks! John

Didn't know that! Thanks for pointing this out guys!

If you get g-loads in excess of 5g you apparently might be able to lose them. I didn't test this myselfe, but it was stated in the diffrent tutorials several times.
-
This is quite intresting then. Because mine is rolling to the right most of the time, and I have to correct to the left. Not sure what could be causing this.
-
Yeah, it was changed in the patch yesterday. It now represents the actual behaviour. The manuals apparently will be changed soon to account for that change.
-
Mine is rolling to the right as well. Maybe OP has his stick a bit uncalibrated?
-
Hi, Yes I was thinking about making a video about that quite soon as well. However, just to clearify, the SAU Autopilot can't land for you. It will just be able to help you out on the approach, landing has to be done by the pilot. ;)
