  1. I would say that I have to agree with you, with new gorgeous aircraft models being implemented into DCS (for instance the new Strike Eagle and the Hog itself) Im feeling that the scenery is really starting to lag behind...
  2. As joey said, you need Max 8 (Max 7 works as well) to be able to export your models in .lom format (which is the format that FC reads). There is nothing else that you need to learn, but remember that learning a 3d package like 3ds Max is a huge undertaking, so stick with it even if you feel that you've gone in too deep. I would also recommend you buy some books or dvds on 3ds Max, it really helps out in the learning process. Personally I love the dvds from 3d Buzz.com, they are really informative and very helpful even if your not a complete newbie modeler. The "3ds Max Fundamentals" dvd even has a tutorial on how to make an F-14 ;)
  3. You have to reach a speed of about 50 knots before the rudders become effective, so, as people said before me, you have to enable nosewheel steering when you are taxiing.
  4. Well, you have to remember that ED's main goal isnt to entertain us sim freaks, but to develop high fidelity simulators for military operators, and who would buy an F-14 sim? The Iranian air force is the last operator of the type, and for some reason I dont really see them buying software from ED...
  5. Yeah, its nice, but Im hoping that the current textures are'nt the final version, because a lot of them are quite low res...

    Game wont unpause

Thanks mate, that seemed to do the trick :)
  7. To be honest, the Hog isnt very hard to fly, so if you already have some sim experience you shouldnt have much trouble flying her. The avionics might seem a bit daunting at first, but just stick with it and you'll get a lot more out of the sim than if you stick to "game" mode. And of course, if you're stuck, come in here and we'll help you out :)
  8. This might be a really stupid question, but what the heck... When I join a server the game is always paused, and I cant seem to unpause it, I always have the little pause icon flashing in the top left corner of the screen. How can I fix this?
  9. The announcement cant be that far away, seeing as Warthog is getting closer and closer to a final release, so lets just keep our fingers crossed for a little while more ;)
  10. I had the exact same thing happen to me, weird thing is it actually flies quite well with just one and a half wing :P

    Jet Thunder

Sounds good, I guess Im going to buy it if its true that it has full start up of the Harrier modeled.
  12. I have 3 hours and 42 minutes after formatting on thursday...
  13. Yesterday I formatted my hard drive, and as I was reinstalling Windows I began to doodle on a piece of paper, I had laing around next to the computer, to pass the time. It wasnt until later I realized that I had drawn a bunch of Warthogs :P
  14. "Jagerpilotene" is quite good, although its very dumbed down and americanized.
  15. Ive been killed several times already :P
  16. Hmmm, I think you just persuaded me :P A Tornado would be cool as well ;)
  17. To be completely honest, no... For some reason Ive never liked the Tornado, and furthermore I think we have more than enough mud movers now with the Su-25 and the SU-25T in Flaming Cliffs and the A-10 in DCS. Dont get me wrong, Ill probably buy ever aircraft in the DCS series, even if the next one is a Tornado, but personally I hope its not ;)
  18. I guess we'll see the next DCS aircraft announced pretty soon, seeing as we are getting closer and closer to the release of Warthog :) And yes, I am crossing my fingers (and toes) for an F-16 ;)
  19. Actually, compared to the price of other games here in Norway, sixty bucks is quite cheap. Its a bit cheaper than a "normal" pc game, and quite a lot cheaper than console games. And considering how deep the DCS simulations are Im more than happy to pay 60 dollars for it :)
  20. Well, Warthog is in a feature lock right now, meaning that nothing new will be added before its shipped. But I do agree that ground crews would be awesome...
  21. The beta has'nt been optimized at all... Im running it on a E8400 3ghz, GeForce 9800GTX (which is the next thing Im going to replace) and 4gb RAM, and its running fairly well with pretty much everything set to high. HDR kills my FPS though, so guess Ill have to wait until I get a new video card to use that.
  22. Las Vegas hasnt been implemented yet, as of right now this is what the area around Nellis looks like.
  23. There are already missions and campaigns available, but they are buggy, so I think its probably best to stick to learning to fly and operate the Hog as of right now. There are training missions available as well, though only a couple of them have voice overs.
  24. Id say its still got quite a way to go before its ready to be shipped, but it is, as other people have said, already very impressive. There is quite a few bugs that need to be ironed out, and it does crash now and then. Furthermore alot of the scenery hasnt been added yet, Nevada feels very barren for instance, but that's what betas are for. I have no doubt that this will be one of the best sims ever created for the home computer, if not the best. Oh, I nearly forgot, the HDR light effects, especially with the sun look awesome, but they do demand quite a bit from you computer.
