Had a quick look at GH with CA, the released version of campaign (Tested CA-push-14-2.miz and few other) crashes my DCS also, but my copied versions from earlier last year seem to work ok to the point you actually get into the A-10c cockpit and mission is running, so I have attached my versions for your testing. PS. Have found and corrected one issue in all missions that I think was causing the crash to desktop, the farps had no names or frequencies assigned to them, and it was logging an error of not creating the heliports (FARP). There are other errors logged also, but missions seem to run now with no crash. Here is the edit second edition. https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6kzsjpygspp4kh/DCSW%20-%20A-10c%20Campaign%20-%20Georgian%20Hammer%20with%20CA%20%28Patch%20To%20Game%29%20%28v1.57x%29.zip?dl=0 Regards, Ian.

The patch is only for Georgian hammer only which requires the player to control ground troops with Radio Commands when flying. There has been absolutely no work done on Georgian Hammer with combined arms to control ground troops. Good to know it is still working with the testing and fixing I did on that. Have done no work on GH with CA myself and don't intend to as GH alone took ages, that campaign is massive, but if it is crashing on running, I am sure ED would want to fix it. Regards, Ian.

FM Homeing - Why doesn't it work? What am I doing wrong?
MadDog-IC replied to leonsilver's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Honestly, I can't remember if I had fixed anything in the other missions (They are saved in the newer 1.5x format also, the originals are not), so I just included them for completeness. Cheers, Ian. -

MadDog-IC replied to leonsilver's topic in DCS: UH-1H
The stray eagle mission has a missing ELT-Tone.ogg file for the radio transmission on the Pilot (Transmission will not work unless you give it a sound to play). Find attached a fixed version with the sound file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mnl68mr0v9jjjow/Huey%20Single%20Player%20Missions.zip?dl=0 Regards, Ian. -
SU-33 Heavy Sky campaign delete it
MadDog-IC replied to Iskra's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement, I am glad someone is getting some joy out of the repaired missions. I am currently on holiday for a few weeks and have had a productive last few days getting the Su-33 Heavy Sky missions going that I was previously stuck on, those are now fixed, so at least I have the ball rolling again. Current progress: (SU-33 Heavy Sky Campaign) Missions 1 - 20 are working well in the old DCS v1.216. Missions 20 - 25 are in varying states of repair and will need AI logic for aircraft and vehicles, voice overs, balancing and Briefing changes to make missions doable. Last and final stage to do once all missions are completed is to import and convert to DCS 1.57x format, then correct F-15c pylon / Aim-120 missile fault, Time of Day issues with wrong lighting, add extra advanced waypoint options to aircraft so they don't dump their ordinance when attacked, etc. Time Frame: Best guess to finish would be 1-2 months depending on issues faced when ported to DCS 1.57x as I may get more issues than I am use to with previous versions (this has slowed progress in the past), also when and if ED decide to include in the release versions again. As the main man says, it will be done when it is done. Regards, Ian. -
SU-33 Heavy Sky campaign delete it
MadDog-IC replied to Iskra's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I have been doing some work on those missions previously but they are only half done in dcs v1.126 format and need to be retested in what ever version is about when I finish all of them such as dcs 1.57x. (My work was being handed to WAGS at ED for inclusion to there dcs general releases, I don't know where I stand as such now as I am not the original author. (ED rep did ask me to let him know when I finish them) I was in no hurry to do anything with these missions as there were no forum complains about them not working correctly. I have also found them quite basic in nature and I can't get the AI aircraft to mimic the flying of a human pilot for a self test function of the missions. I replied about this in another forum and ED seemed interested in them when I finish them. So they could be coming back in the near future if I can get motivated. Regards, Ian. -

Su-33 - Heavy sky Campaign missing in 1.5.7 beta
MadDog-IC replied to SnapRoll's topic in General Bugs
I have been updating these missions for WAGS, but have had issues which has slowed progress, but about 10 of the 25 missions are fixed already, so should I continue to fix them or forget about it ??? I didn't think they were such a problem, as no one has ever mentioned any issues with the missions before in the forums. Regards, Ian. -
Last mission of original campaign broken?
MadDog-IC replied to Gault05's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Thanks for letting me know, saves me from doing the same tests, similar issues seen in A-10c missions with missile effectiveness being reduced. Regards, Ian. -
Last mission of original campaign broken?
MadDog-IC replied to Gault05's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
I re-tested mission with the AI flying the player role and used the radio commands to send in the bomber group whilst it was keeping the enemy fighters busy, the Su-34's and Tu-22 do as they were assigned and get most if not all of their missiles off, so long as they aren't engaged by american fighters. Have checked in Tacview to see results, this shows that they have scored some hits on the carrier and escort ships, but a great deal of the antiship missiles are intercepted by the american defense systems, namely AIM-7 and RIM-66 missiles. End result was the carrier was still afloat because not enough missiles hit it (1 x KH-31p + 7 x KH-22), from memory I think it take about 10. Things most likely to have changed (Since tested before): RU Su-34 and Tu-22 - anti-ship missiles may have less explosive power. American ship defenses - May have better capabilities to track and destroy incoming anti-ship missiles than before. American ships may be hardier and require more missiles to destroy each of them. Something must have changed since I rewrote the missions and tested as another user some time ago had reported that he didn't have to do much to complete the mission successfully. Regards, Ian. -
Here you go, after a fair bit of time trying to suss it out, found some errors in the dcs.log, I have it fixed. Look's like having errant OR statements in some of your triggers with out another statement was causing a compile error and partial crash in the code, causing trigger zones and radio stuff not to work. I removed the extra OR statements in the conditions and all is good. ie. IF you have some thing along the lines of: Zone Trigger If unit in zone (Pilot #001) OR OR Play "Sound.wav" Fixed Mission: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u2j6q9ewleenjhh/Overlord%20-%20Spitfire%20Ace%20-%20Fixed.miz?dl=0 Regards, Ian.

Your mission is working as it should, you are mis-interpreting how it should work. Mission Goals / Results = Is more like how much or a percentage of the mission you have completed successfully. (for campaign missions 1-49 you go back a mission, 50 you replay the same mission and 51-100 you have completed the mission and continue on to the next). Mission Score = Points awarded for killing vehicles, aircraft, etc. (These are predetermined and hard coded by ED and awarded for each kill, you can't manually set these anywhere). ie. If you downed 10 aircraft you may get 15 points each for a total of 150 mission points, But the Mission Goal may be set that you only have to take a key flight group of 4 for which you get a Mission Completion Goal of 100. Your Mission Score will never change unless you kill enemy equipment. Mission goals / results and Mission score can be checked in game using the ' key, they will show as Results and score. Regards, Ian.

P-51d RWR not operational
MadDog-IC replied to MadDog-IC's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Thanks all, 3 minutes to warm it up got it going. -
Have a problem with both the P-51d and FW-190 aircraft, in that if I fly a mission already started in the air: My rudder pedals will not travel any more that a quarter of its range on either side of centre. The main X-axis (aileron controls) start to do similar things when you fly around a bit. If I fly the same mission but start from the ground, all axis work correctly. All Axis's are setup correctly with no conflicts and work as expected in all calibration screens of windows and DCS. Cheers, Ian.

Any one else having issue with the P-51d Rear Warning system, as it doesn't do any thing for me. Turn it on and use test switch = Nothing Still sitting in hanger with wall behind me = no warning at all. Cheers, Ian.

Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread
MadDog-IC replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in DCS Modding
I had the same problem, followed the diagnostics on authors website and implemented the new export script commands which weren't upgraded from the older Tacview 1.28-1.4 versions and copied over all the TACVIEW directory to the correct folder location. DCS 1.5x stable = Wasn't installed and updated properly. DCS 1.5x OpenBeta = Was installed and working correctly DCS 2.0x OpenAlpha = Was installed and working correctly. Remember in the install process, that it only looks for DCS installs that have a directory format of DCS.xxxxx, hence why is doesn't update the DCS World stable release. DCS DCS.openbeta DCS.openalpha Regards, Ian. -
Saitek X52 Pro SST Programming Software
MadDog-IC replied to retired_old_sarge's topic in General Bugs
You only have to left mouse click on the profile and it will be loaded, should show its name on your throttle MFD display. To have that profile load by default you Right mouse click on the profile and select "set as startup profile". If you have the profiles listed in the profiler, can't understand why you can cycle through them with the joystick. The flashing button is normal, going up or down with the hat switch should show the profiles name on the Throttle MFD as you cycle through them. When you have the one you want, you go right with the joystick hat switch to set it. -
Saitek X52 Pro SST Programming Software
MadDog-IC replied to retired_old_sarge's topic in General Bugs
You have done well. To install my profiles (Some are still WIP): Place all .pro files in this directory: "c:\Users\Public\Documents\SmartTechnology Profiles" Run Profiler.exe from saitek suite and when icon is on the windows taskbar, right mouse click the profiler icon and choose the profile you want to use by left mouse clicking on it name, right clicking on a specific profile gives you the option of making that one your default startup choice and or loading it into the editor for modifications. Because you are going to be using SST mapping joystick buttons to actual keyboard commands to send to DCS, you need to go into DCS own controls section for each aircraft module you are going to use an SST profile for and wipe all default joystick button assignments from the listings, you do that by clicking in a column listed under your joysticks name and then click the "Clear Category" button at top of page. You can swap your profiles with joystick by holding in the throttle bodies I Key (Clutch) in and using the silver hat on the Joystick to cycle up and down and right to select the profile for use, left for using no profile at all. You should be right to go now, learn my profile and just run DCS as normal. (Some of the profiles, you may have to map your fire and weapon button in DCS as for some reason, sending those keys from SST doesn't work) Regards, Ian. SmartTechnology Profiles.zip -
Shame that it has changed to this policy of no exchange between Steam and ED Store, I personally use the standalone installer, but have some modules purchased through steam also. From a consumer point of view, choice is a good thing, everyone has there own personal reasons for choosing a purchasing method, me included. Some times I regret not buying modules in a sale on ED store, but then shortly after a similar sale is on steam and I decide to purchase them because I don't want to wait any more. I just think this will hurt ED more than help them. Regards, Ian.

Saitek X52 Pro SST Programming Software
MadDog-IC replied to retired_old_sarge's topic in General Bugs
Firstly: What versions of SST and Drivers are you using and what OP System. Disable your antivirus program if you have one temporarily as this may interfere with the software installation. When installing Drivers, don't have joystick plugged in, until you told to connect it, check in device manager that all devices are installed and working (no yellow explaination marks), especially anything related to you joystick. There was a version of SST or driver that wasn't digitally signed and would never install correctly as windows doesn't allow unsigned drivers anymore (I'm currently running 7.0.53.6 in windows 8.1 x64). Always install software by right clicking on the install program and choose to "Run as Administrator". Last stance, try the step by step resolutions marked here: http://www.solvusoft.com/en/files/missing-not-found-error/dll/windows/saitek/configuration-software/sai3dviewer-dll/ Can also help you with some X-52 Pro SST Profiles once you get past this hurdle. Not much good at enterpreting logs, but as no one has helped so far, I will give a stab. Are you running tacview ??? Looks like you have or had the older version installed, If still installed, I would uninstall tacview and reinstall with v1.6, or at least clean up the export.lua script so it doesn't try to run the old lua file, DCS may be failing due to incorrect TACVIEW install. From your DCS.log: 00134.127 ALERT EDCORE: Can't execute Lua file C:\Users\Ben\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\Export.lua - [string "C:\Users\Ben\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts/TacviewExportDCS.lua"]:262: table index is nil Regards, Ian.

To many of us are always looking for the next plane, terrain, etc for a buzz, my advise, just pick one or two modules and play the guts out of them, better to be a master of one that a jack of all trades on 10. I could play A-10c or Ka-50 mission alone for the rest of my life, there are just so many of them. As you said, just fly and stop studying so much. Regards, Ian.

Is 1.5 using more cpu cores now?
MadDog-IC replied to Knock-Knock's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am fully aware of the 2 core line they have, I don't care how many cores it uses so long as it runs ok. I am only stating an observation. Why core zero and two use to do the bulk of the work, core four and six now have more load. Physical cores usually doing next to nothing when at desktop, then when dcs runs (Highest values, Average across all 8 cores with (HT) is 25%): Core 0 =50% Core 2 = 67% Core 4 = 65% Core 6 = 87% The other cores could be used more efficiently by windows and its sub-systems and not DCS directly.
