Agree so far, flight dynamics seem great and the model is very well done. Any photoscenery or some nice textures for DCS World? That's the one thing I miss vs a decked out FSX, wonderful ground textures and photoscenery.

I went ahead and bought the Huey with the understanding that the devs DO intend to finish what they started. If I'm being honest Id say Im not terribly optimistic that it will be completed, as they have several other beta projects on the table and the Huey's been out for quite some time. Hope I'm wrong. I haven't had time to setup my Warthog HOTAS yet, so haven't actually gotten airborne, but - even though damage isn't modeled, can we still fly "by the book" or do the engine instruments stay mostly static? I can look past the damage if the gauges perform correctly (EGT etc) Seems between this and the Dodosim for FSX, that these are the two best sims for the home user! If only we could get some of those Dodosim features into the Huey and we'd be in business :) Thanks for everyone's input, and here's hoping they continue developing the UH-1 and release updates in a reasonably timely manner.

Think I'll give it a go with the hopes that they come through on the added features (engine managment etc) Think it'll still be enjoyable in the mean time. Do we know if these modules will work with DCS 2.0 or will they require updating?
  4. Hello, so just how realistic is the Huey? Reading threads it looks like there's still some issues (collective buggy) that have yet to be resolved, and it sounds as though updates are slow to arrive. Are the developers even supporting this module any longer? Can we expect more updates? Basically I'm looking for the most realistic heli sim I can find at the moment (at the consumer level, not necessarily commercial level sims) and hoping this will fit the bill. Also, I assume these modules will work just fine in the new DCS 2.0? That was always my complaints with DCS A-10/P-51, the visuals for terrain and environment aren't up to the levels obtainable in other flight sims, but judging from screen shots of 2.0, that will no longer be an issue. So in closing, at this point is most everything simulated fairly well? Are we expecting to see any improvements? Would you buy the module over again knowing what you know how? Thanks and much appreciated. Ty
  5. Well why can't you just simply answer my question? Are you telling me it's a problem with the sound? I simply would like to know if this will be fixed or if the engine sounds are final? Instead of banishing this question to a location that will never be seen, you could just answer the question.
  6. I did see that, and am just trying to confirm that those particular sounds are still a wip. I can only hope, as the rest of the sounds are excellent. It's just that wonderful Merlin idle sound seems off. Still a wonderful aircraft though, even being a beta wip. Very happy with it. Thanks
  7. I'm goin to try this again.... My last post was moved into DCS world-bugs and problems. This issue has to do with the P-51 itself, not DCS world. So anyway, once again, why after start-up does it sound as if it's idling so high? As if the throttle is open to far? If you've ever heard a real P-51 idle you'll know what I'm talking about. I realize the sounds were recorded from the real aircraft, but that characteristic Merlin idle sound where it sputters, burps and farts is just not present in the current beta build. Is this just because all samples have not been used? Or are the engine sounds/idle sounds complete? Thanks
  8. I'll have to respectfully disagree. It doesn't have that tell-tale V-12 Merlin sound when it's idling. It goes right from the start up sounds (which are great) to a high idle, as if the throttle were open further than idle. It should sputter, burp and fart while idling, for lack of a better description :) The list of incomplete items shows sounds as not being fully finished, so perhaps it will be corrected. The rest of the sounds are great, at least everything else I've heard, it's just the idling sound that seems off. Good day!
  9. But before pre-purchase, can someone from ED put my mind at ease and assure me that the idle sounds of the Merlin will be added/corrected? As it sits now it sounds as if it's idling very high. If you've ever heard the real aircraft start up you'll know what I'm talking about. I personally love the sounds as much as the aircraft itself, so am very much interested if the start-up/idling sounds will be fixed/added. Thank you!
