  1. :) I don't think you'll be seeing the IRIS forums open here for some time. :) It's tricky enough to manage the flow of information as it is. Still, thanks for the nudge. I'll see what I can show off in time.
  2. Guys the forum was removed due to lack of communication and the fact we didn't really have anything to show. So until the projects are considerably further along, it'll remain that way. :) We'll have a new home here in time. :)
  3. I'd love to say yes, but no... :) Just a couple of the testers having some fun in the F-22..
  4. I'm on IRIS TS3 now, feel free to join for a chat. Teamspeak details are as follows Server IP: ts36.gamespeak.com:9321 No password
  5. I DO love Monty Python... First rule of not being seen...don't stand up.lol. Anyway, after that brightened up my day today, I posted this on our Facebook page earlier and thought it should be shown here too. :) - DCS Update - 9th August 2013 It's been a productive few months on the DCS side, slow but steady coding for the most part between other commitments. The news though is positive. Over the last year we've been working hard to learn new skills in terms of DCS development. We admit that coming from another platform, it's been hard work learning not just how the DCS environment works, but also how to code, model and work behind the scenes with a brand new product platform. However, we haven't taken the journey alone, we've been surrounded by support from the ED Team, always there when we need them, and the valued advice from many other 3rd party developers. We have though, we feel, reached the end of the journey as far as experiments on the BD-5 testbed is concerned. We've determined a number of things on what to do and more importantly, what not to do whilst working on the aircraft. We feel it's time to put that item to bed and focus on one of our core DCS products. Whilst many of you have seen images of the F-22 & F-14 in DCS in the past, we're in final discussions on which airframe will be the focus for the DCS development team moving forward. We'll also be advising those interested in developing with us via email in the next few days. Many appplied for beta positions and only a small few were accepted, we'll be expanding that next week and inviting more people to join the dev team whilst keeping it small enough to manage effectively. We have a wide variety of new positions opening up for this development which we're interviewing for. If you feel you can bring something to the team, I invite you to send a message to us via the 'Contact Us' tab under the IRIS banner at the top of the page. I look forward to bringing together a bright group of like minded people for this new endeavour! ~David
  6. I spoke to Alex yesterday as we were also having the issue with our development models, he's informed me they've found the issue on their end and it should be fixed with the next update.
  7. Yep, I anticipated a barrage of 'IRIS is dead' posts so I was proactive and made the post on our facebook page after speaking to Matt. We're not dead, we're just resting our eyes... :D lol
  8. SkateZilla, I'm seriously thinking of trying EFM, SFM just doesn't like to play with a lot of things and I think the general consensus is a move to EFM for add-on 3rd party mods. I think Alex is on hols at the moment but I'll be bringing the SFM issue up with him when he gets back to at least see if it's an engine code thing or a stupid spanky thing.. :)
  9. My issue I think we've managed to narrow down (thanks to Chris at CoreTex) is down to the empty, nominal and max weight values of the aircraft. Once I altered to a larger weight, I had no issue.
  10. I posted this in the 3rd Party thread but I thought I'd echo it here for a larger audience view.. :) "I'm having some issue with the BD-5 flight model. We're trying to make the best of the SFM currently and have made significant headway with a lot of the flight model, with exception to one thing. Pitch control! The BD-5 has a small weight 170Kg empty and a low wing area of just 11.34m2 The issue we're coming across is that regardless of what values get changed in the SFM area, (Mzalfa, Mzalfadt, Cya, Akldop and Cymax) nothing seems to provide us with a change in pitch authority. Full elevator deflection results in about a 1.5 - 2G climb at best at about 200KIAS. I should be getting far more authority than that. Is there an pitch coefficient or multiplier which can increase the pitch effectiveness? I'm trying to figure out what might be causing the restriction in pitch moment, but it's driving me nuts.. Any thoughts would be great. I've checked various forum posts relating to aerodynamics with no avail. "
  11. Morning all, I posted this today on our Facebook page, but I thought it fair to post it here too if anyone was interested. :) ---------------------------------- DCS Testing Positions open! We're currently accepting beta testing applications for the IRIS DCS Division. Whilst this is an unpaid volunteer position, successful applicants will get advanced and early access to IRIS content. As such, successful applications will be subject to a standard industry non-disclosure agreement and proof of identity check. Beta testers will be responsible for testing, evaluating and bug tracking a number of IRIS content in development for the DCS World platform by Eagle Dynamics & The Fighter Collection. An active Facebook account and Skype and/or Teamspeak 3 client is strongly recommended for inter-team communication but not necessary. Interested applicants should e-mail david@irissimulations.com.au with a brief overview of your skills, what you can bring to the testing process and information relating to your knowledge of the DCS platform. I look forward to hearing from you all soon. Regards ~David.
  12. Hi Everyone! Where shall I start.. :) First and foremost, let me put some of your concerns to rest. 1. It's business as usual at IRIS. No we haven't lost our contact, no we haven't had a falling out with ED and no we haven't cancelled anything. 2. The decision to hide the IRIS forums is the ED forum moderators decision. We respect their decision and the reasons behind it. 3. Yes I DID mention on the IRIS forums here late last year that I personally had to focus on finishing the PC-21 prior to doing any more work on our DCS line. The PC-21 was finished last week and I'm pretty sure I earned a weekend off after all that.. :) 4. Our commitment to DCS and the industry is as strong now as it always has been. Any suggestions including so called 'inside knowledge' is absolute rubbish. If you don't hear it directly from me..take it with a grain of salt! There are many out there who like to spin tall tales for their own benefit. Anyway, I respect your passion for our team and the aircraft we produce. It's a shame to read some of the negative comments here, but that's the nature of the business.. everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. :) So thank you all...and we'll advise you all when we have more to show. ~David.
  13. I would like to vote that the music in DCS:World be replaced with the new trailer music... :) Just my view.. :D
  14. 0,0,0 is located at the 1/4 chord of the main wing and on the rotation axis.. As seen on the following pic
  15. Thanks for the guides guys.. I've now created a working collision model which was tested by taxiing into a truck... :D Unfortunately it hasn't solved the issue of exploding on takeoff or landing. For those interested, the landing gear code is as follows; nose_gear_pos = {1.493, -0.64, 0.00}, -- nosegear coord fore/aft, up/down, left/right of scene center main_gear_pos = {-0.137, -0.57, 0.494}, -- main gear coords fore/aft, up/down, left/right of scene center tand_gear_max = 0.988, -- distance between main gears in m If I change the vertical clearance of the gear to -2.50 I can rotate and takeoff, but anything lower than say -1.5 will result in an explosion... The less height between the scene center and the tarmac, the less AoA I can achieve without exploding.. Head banging on the desk continues.. :)
  16. Hi Ron.... Nice to see you here... if you need help/assistance etc, just msg me.. :) DB.
  17. Yes, It comes in handy, but ONLY if you are the owner of the original content... For me it's been great being able to get access to max files of previously lost IRIS source content, but I've already had to deal with nasty buggers ripping out our work and putting it into different platforms or selling it on 3d model websites.. Double edged sword indeed... :)
  18. Great hints there Rudel.... That explains a lot... thanks.
