  1. If you guys / gals knew how many games don't make it past early access before being cancelled, you'd lose your mind.

It's not a DCS / 3rd Party scenario at all, it's a general software business scenario.

@SkateZilla Yes, I see it shows the info bottom right under "Latest Versions Available". It use to show "Update Available" inside the "Sim Build Slot#1" window. Now it doesn't.

It's no biggy, cos I can always just click update, but wanted to let you know.

Yup, it's fixed internally, as ED removed OB from their site, so the parser is parsing the wrong lines and reporting the wrong strings to compare.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to list devices in order, e.g. start with the one that is used to display the primary desktop. I have zero knowledge about the API though so… 🙂

its the way windows prioritizes them, but the limit of only getting device info for 2 adapters is a WMI Limit for that category, I'm waiting to hear back from MS.

For example, my Desktop, shows the 6800XT as Primary, but when I remote login, it shows it as secondary, w/ Microsoft Remote Display Adapter as the Primary./

My laptop shows Intel as primary, RTX3060Ti as Secondary, but when I remote login, it doesn't show the 3rd adapter. so I see Microsoft Remote Display Adapter, then Intel as Secondary, and no RTX 3060Ti

The Launcher use to tell you if there was a DCS update available within the slot. It doesn't do that now?

    It should.

It pings ED's server directly for latest version.

It may have been broken when ED Removed OB from the server list, I fixed this internally already.

*ie if you look at the home screen under latest versions available, it's a bunch of random text from the updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com site

Correct, App only pings DXGI for 2 devices, I have no way around that, I'll ask MS if there's a better way.

Hmm, strange. Today a DLSS option dissapeared in Rendering tab. I can only select FSR and NIR.

In logs I found "04/11/2024 | 10:16:42 PM | SUPPORT  | NVIDIA RTX GPU NOT INSTALLED"

Ah, OK. SO I think this is becuase it detected Virtual Desktop as my primary GPU card and Quest 3 as secondary... Interesting 🙂

While waiting for MS, I tried to expand the DXGI WMI Get Video Controller call to more than 2 devices and it throws an exception, so I don't think it's possible.

I may look into another route.

Can be mounted or are actually mounted? I'm just surprised they're still in use, especially on new aircraft.

I dont see the point honestly, AIM-120C7s and AIM-9Xs should be pretty much all they need.

AIM-7M/Ps were the last ones, there are no more, they were pushed from active duty for more AIM-120Cs, so once they are gone, they are gone.
AIM-7Ps have the receiver upgrade, but whether or not they are still loaded on Block II/III Hornets remains a mystery, it's in the HOL SCS, but it's prolly just left over, and not in our inventory anymore.

Do they actually stick it to the Superhornets?!

AIM-7M's are mounted to Mid/Inner Pylons via LAU-115C, and Intake stations via LAU-116.

Whether or not it's a popular loadout, I doubt it.

if active jamming is going on, then the growlers are either going to carry AIM-9X's or HARMs

  8. Growlers are now certified to carry aim-9x on inboard and outboard stations, doubling their IR weapons from 2 to 4

So the new short range preferred symmetrical loadout is:
    WING TIPS: AN/ALQ-218 x 2
    OUTBOARD: AIM-9X x 2
    MIDBOARD: AN/ALQ-99 HIGH BAND x 2
    INBOARD: AIM-9X x 2
    INTAKE: AIM-120C x 2
    CENTERLINE: AN/ALW-99 LOW BAND x 1

Long range is the same as before (replacing INBOARD AIM-9X's with AIM-7/120)

    This ^^^

As the pilots say, "There's nothing "Super" about the Super Hornet.😜

Those Articles comparing super to Legacy, were comparing Lot 18 to Lot 21 Legacy hornets to Lot22 to Lot 25 Super Hornets.
*Most of the comparisons were Lot 18, sometimes earlier, Lot 21 was mostly USMC Ds, and a Single C.

Those same pilots have likely not flown Lot 30+ Super Hornets, which is an entirely different cockpit workflow and electronics suite.

The Hornet base design from YF-17 through all the LRIP, A, B, C, D, LRIP E, F, G have all been draggy designs. and when you increase the size you increase the surface area that causes drag.

The *Canted* Pylons have minimal impact on the total drag vs *Straight Pylons*, Super Hornet has a lot of surface area regardless, and continues to struggle through transonic regime even in the clean configuration without win pylons.

The F-35C is just as draggy, the difference is they stuck a huge motor in it to push it through those transonic regimes. (a motor which is prone to problems, hence the replacement program).

F-14A and B have a similar top end, despite the GE Engine having significantly more thrust....  why? transonic and super sonic drag from the large surface area...

If they expect Super to mean twice the speed.. then they are mis-guided.

There's more factors that contribute to the name, More bring back, Less parts, Less maintenance, Better survivability, etc etc.

Sure. Someday 16 or so years from now this particular Super Hornet block will be out of service and declassified / open source. Then ED can make a modules and you all can exclaim, look ED changed their minds! 😆

Anything less than Lot 24 is already declassified, the problem is some of the manuals are simply not publicly available.

Block III Lot 26+ you have the same chance of seeing them as a F-16E Block 60 or 70

but why buy more Foxtrots if the Block 3 Echo can do everything?

    Pilot Fatigue,

WSO does most of the look down and system operating, pilot just has to pilot the aircraft, instead of doing both.

and like i said, Foxtrots can be converted to and from growlers in the block III's, they are all pre-wired,

So essentially they are getting more airframes that can be used as growlers if needed.

Block III Foxtrots are decoupled cockpits and can be converted to growlers.

  13. My Take:
The Navy is keeping Boeing on life support just in case they need them, there are already spec sheets on Lot 49, even though there are no domestic or FMS orders.

in 2025, they will buy another dozen.

    Honestly though,
F/A-18s are more cost effective per flight hour and more mission diverse than the F-35.

The Lot 40+ hornets have ridiculous capabilities that pretty much put it on par with the F-35 electronics wise,

as far as RCS, and Stealth, the enemy is going to see a nice combo of bumble bees, seagulls and mockingjays on their radar.

If anyone is using RCS as the reason the F-35 is better than the super hornets, they don't understand, it's like comparing a baseball and a softball from 2 miles away. the RCS as small as it is, isn't going to make much difference..

Not a prioity at all, but it would be very nice to see a screen resizing option in the future, as a lot of the text is hard to read on a 4K screen. I think we may have touched on this sometime ago already.

yes we have, high DPI mode and scaling is on the future plans, but there are several larger things coming before it, and major UI Changes and Code changes required to facilitate the DPI Scaling.

DLSS "versions" are not game or driver dependent

there are drivers that take advantage of some features at a low level, and some of the DLSS functions are tied to the GPU Driver version.

you can't drop a DLSS DLL in a \bin\ folder and expect all the features to work when the GPU's driver doesn't even know what they are.

But don't believe me, drop a new DLSS dll in your bin folder and run the RTX40 Series launch driver from several years ago and tell me it's not causing problems.

nVidia themselves state minimum recommended driver for each DLSS version, they are independent libraries but they rely on specific driver level instructions as well.
