  1. My guess is that since ED has not really released anything hardcore in years this is exactly what they are hoping for.
  2. How many rare bugs equal a whole bug?
  3. Me too. To funny :megalol::megalol::megalol::megalol:
  4. If ED ever does do the F/A-18C I am sure it will be worth the wait. But I will be honest, there really is no proof that they are even working on it. Based on the timeframe needed to develop the A-10c I would have to say it's still many years away. Probably closer to 4 years. If you look closely at the threads on the forum you will see that the only people talking about the F/A-18c is us not ED. I hope I am wrong, but time will tell.
  5. Bottom line people have just lost interest. Their seems to be a lot of multiplayer stability issues. The only people talking about this elusive F/A-18C is the players, and their is really no proof that ED is evening working on it. I stopped flying over a year ago. The last two squads I belonged to disbanded. Personally I did not come to DCS for WWII aircraft. Flamming Cliffs is to simplified for the realistic systems that we were all introduced to by the A-10C. I could be wrong, but I believe a lot of players are still waiting for the Nevada terrain that I believe we paid for over two years ago. I will always be grateful for the fine work done on the A-10C, it raised the bar for all future hardcore flight sims to come. But I believe at some point ED has to take responsibility for the reason why so many players have lost interest and hope that someday they really do begin work on the F/A-18C and give the player community what they have been asking for all along.
  6. The bottom line is there really has not been anything as sophisticated and as complex as the A-10C in years. I can't speak for ED or Matt, but if they were going to do the F/A-18C they would have done it by now.
  7. I have never used Steam and I was wondering if someone could let me know from there experience if Steam requires an application on your computer to run in the background all the time like what Electronic Arts uses. I had some problems with Electronic Arts using there App to send advertising to my computer and I had to always turn this App off each time I started my computer. Eventually I had to back away from EA. Can someone let us know a little about their experience using STEAM.
  8. I have never been more confused with ED than now. My first impressions of ED, and what drove me to DCS was the incredible realism of A-10C Warthog, and how well they modeled so much of the aircraft systems. I felt like I was learning to fly a modern jet. Since I have a degree in Aerospace Engineering and I am an actual pilot, when I say I was blown away A-10C I mean it. I have know idea where ED is going, and I feel like everything they have released since then is two steps backwards. I was not impressed with the P-51 and I really do not see how it fits into the modern world simulator that only contains the Caucus region in Russia. If I want to go fly WWII era aircraft there are other sims to choose from which are strictly WWII and have the look and feel of WWII era. I think ED should let the third party developers work on the WWII era aircraft and ED should get back to what they showed us they do well. I do get the feeling that ED is going the way of Microsoft and just concentrating on the infrastructure and getting out of the aircraft development business all together. They only seem to be working on aircraft with less complex systems and shorter development cycles, while they package their infrastructure and sell it to third party developers. Don't get me wrong, I love everything ED did with the A-10C, I just did not come to DCS to fly scale-down aircraft (e.x. FC3 or WWII era)
  9. I am a little sad that there was no mention of F/A-18c. I came to DCS because of the incredible work they did on the A-10C. I am not really interested in WWII era aircraft. I thought I read in a previous post that DCS was updating to a 64 bit architecture, but I see no mention of it in the change log.
  10. I did not participate in any pre-funding and I am concerned that what ever is proposed will not get built. If ED can't do it, why should I believe some third party developer would be able to build a module as sophisticated as the A-10C. Most of the squads I used to fly with have all disbanded while waiting for ED to release another jet sim like the F/A-18c. Since this never happen, most of the virtual pilots that I use to fly with have been force to sit on the sidelines while they wait to see if some thirty party developer can deliver a jet sim as hardcore A-10C. I understand that this takes a lot of money, but a lot of us spent years helping ED with the A-10C to get it to where it is today in the hope that someday we would see another aircraft like the F/A-18c with carrier operations. I think for the community to take crowdfunding seriously were going to first have to wait and see if a third party developer is capable of modeling complex avionics and other systems like what was put into the A-10C.
  11. I find the A10C to be the most rewarding to fly and the most amount of fun. Find a friend to fly with online who is familiar with the A10C and can work with you to understand the systems. I feel that A10C has the most amount of functionality and I only wish ED was still developing aircraft with this level of functionality. The training tutorials that come with the aircraft are well done and that is where I would start after you get your stick setup.
  12. I joined three squads over the last three years and they have all since disbanded. Most claimed that they were not happy about the direction DCS was going. It seems that the feeling was that DCS was moving away from developing realistic Jet aircraft (study sim). I understand that there is a lot of effort going on with third party mods, but we have not seen anything to date that suggest that anything will come close to the level of detail that was place on the A-10C by DCS. This is the level of detail that DCS put out that raised the bar, including a manual that made me feel like I was learning to fly a real military jet aircraft. I guess I am asking the big question: is it time to hang things up? The updates don't really say anything new that we haven't already heard over the last few years. I appreciate the need to keep things quite to prevent mud slinging, but if DCS is waiting on Mod development to take the sim to the next level then we have to be more realistic about the future. What do you guys think?
  13. F/A-18C. I need a reason to start dreaming again:)
  14. Wag's you had me at "F/A-18C". :) Something inspirational... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYeTVed-qAY :)
  15. I have to agree with you guys. If it weren't for ED I would not have the A-10C to begin with. I still dream of the day I get to fly F/A-18C sim again like Janes FA-18C, but not at the expense of losing some of the finest work I have ever seen in the Combat Flight Simulation arena. I have been buying all of the Mods except for FC3 and I will continue too in the hope that someday we will have the F/A-18C. How I miss flying around the boat and all those carrier qualfication landings. I just wanted all the developers at ED and Wags to know that this flight sim jocking apreciates all the hard work you quys have put into DCS over the years and look foward to what ever comes next.
